I'm not sure if my camera will record videos for more than a few minutes
it seems to just stop itself after a while
the display turns off after 3 minutes, and there's no way to disable it
nevermind then, my camera is too shitty to record a good video

how many people here use radar detectors
Damn you winter.
My gas filler rusted out, so now I can't add gas to my Soobie.
Good thing I have a backup Jeep.
Did I ever post pics of that thing? Ill have to find some..

It's alright, but I've always been a fan of the XJ.
Got it for $600 so my dad wouldn't be driving his diesel everywhere, and we've had it a year.
anyone know why I was getting shittier mpg on the interstate than in city/highway driving? is it because I was going like 70-80 mph, and the resistance is a lot greater at that speed?
in the city/highway driving I was getting around 28-29 mpg, but on the interstate I got like 25 mpg
[editline]16th December 2010[/editline]
also, is there any point in using third, second, and low gear in an automatic?

The only benefit i've found for using them is to slow down quicker (engine braking) or if you are offroading and need a lower gear without the tranny automatically shifting on you when you are climbing a hill or something, and need more torque
so it's okay to shift from drive to third gear while moving?
is it a good way to coast so you don't have to use your brakes really?

I use them for engine braking down snowy hills that I wouldn't want to use my brakes on.

If you're trying to save gas, just put the car in neutral and brake. Braking uses no gas, but motor braking forces your engine to go faster and consume more gas.
putting a moving car in neutral doesn't sound safe at all
[editline]16th December 2010[/editline]
also, wouldn't it damage the transmission?

you realize that every time your car switches gears, it goes to neutral in between, right?
It will do no damage to the car but you should really always be in a gear. Never know when you might need that extra engine breaking.
I was googling it, and almost everyone advised not to shift into neutral like that because 1) it doesn't save any gas and 2) it could damage the transmission
Shifting to Neutral while moving is pointless, and illegal in most places but it won't do any damage to 99% of transmissions.

How the hell is shifting to Neutral while moving in anyway against the law? Also shifting to nuetral when coming to a stop DOES save on fuel, but only a little bit. The engine goes to it's idle of around 800rpm or so. When sitting at lights I have the car in Neutral and the clutch up. Sitting at a light in Gear and with the clutch down can cause a little bit of wear to occur, but not alot.
Being in neutral cannot physically be damaging to a transmission in any way. It is just spinning freely.
Let's change the subject. Tired of seeing 4 pages of you guys arguing over manuals and only going in circles.
Well, post your favorate over the top custom vehicles.
How the hell is shifting to Neutral while moving in anyway against the law?
Its just an old law thats just kinda there from back in the day. Not something that would be enforced, but still techically illegal in many places.
also, is there any point in using third, second, and low gear in an automatic?
I always use it on steep hills to save my brakes or whenever I don't want it moving to the next gear (Like going UP a steep hill). Low gears are also a godsend in 4 wheel.
Speaking of snow... Got another snow day today :smug:

fun on empty parking lots but everywhere else I hate it too

Lawmakers gonna law.
In new jersey it is illegal to have your reverse lights illuminated while your car is not in reverse/ is moving forward.
:downs:
Uh. Of course that's illegal! Having white lights on your rear when you ain't going backwards is dangerous as all hell and super confusing to other drivers.

That's only for auxiliary backing lights.
That's only for auxiliary backing lights.
the book said backing lights, doesn't that mean the ones built in/ the ones that cant really be on while in drive
Yeah, which leads me to believe it's only for auxiliary ones (Yes you can wire them separate from the stock wiring to a separate switch). Unless you have a broken taillight but why would they word it that way?

Shifting to neutral uses more gas than engine braking. No fuel is being injected into the cylinders while the engine is decelerating, it's already been discussed.
someone list some coupes that are no more than $25,000 for my stepdad to consider
