Anyone else agree with me that kias are looking like a good buy lately? Good warranty, cars are looking nicer and nicer (this one, and forte), and they're cheap to boot
but this whole sound system thing, I NEVER understood, I mean, I used to see in car advertisements: "305 horsepower V6, 0-60 in 5.5 seconds and a LSD" or "Available sport suspension with LED headlights" or some shit, but now it's:
"WHOA YOU CAN PLUG IN YOUR IPOD"
"OMG LOOK BLUETOOTH HOLY SHIT"
"STORE YOUR FAVOURITE SONGS HERE"
and no info on the car itself...
and now this whole speaker craze, I mean, honestly, if I was buying a car for the speakers, I wouldn't buy a Kia. OR I could put in some speakers and easily surpass that quality with less money, just more hassle
I want to know what is under the hood
and how reliable it is
and its safety ratings even
suspension info
etc. etc. etc., not some electronic shit I can put in myself
It's what the general public likes now.

What were your stats?
9.9lb/hp wassap.
haha oh wow
s14s must be heavy as shit or something.
[editline]19th December 2010[/editline]
wait, s14 curb weight is only like 2700, you have less than 300hp?
i had a party at my place yesterday and apparently when some of the guests left, they drew huge cocks and other gay shit in the snow on my windows and hood, and now you can still see it even though i scraped the snow off.
FFFFUUUUU

Haha, that's great. After work today, I notice that about five or six cars in the parking lot have snow cocks built around their antennas. That's pretty funny.
Ed's wagon Power/weight: 14.76 pounds per hp (SHITTY DYNO GO)
My projected CRX power/weight: 14.61-13.57 depending on how cheap I am
:smug:
My Lude as it is would be running about 14.54 pounds per HP or 155(ish)bhp per ton. Plan on putting it on a diet in the summer, out with the air con, sound deadening and other bits I can shave. Hoping to lose up to 100kg. Plus I've got a few breathing mods; intake, intake mani, throttle body and cat-back exhaust laying around to put on once I've bought a new ECU to give it a tune so should gain an extra 30-40bhp from those lot, hopefully.

POWER OVER BRAKING :flashfap:
a week ago this 17 year old lost control and wrecked into a sheriff's car. I passed by the wreck and saw the officer on a stretcher. it was a minor wreck, but I'm guessing they took him to the hospital just to be safe.
the roads were pretty slick because it had been raining for hours. the 17 year old and deputy were both making left turns in separate lanes from a traffic light, and the 17 year old lost control and slid into the officer's path hitting his cruiser.
lol

they didnt have a fan to put on my topmount so i got nasty heatsoak for all my runs, I'd cool it down and it'd literally be too hot to touch after a 6sec pull, since my car is obviously gonna be a bitch to dyno im gonna buy some electric radiator fans and attach alligator clips to them, i'll just lie it on my topmount for the pulls
that and i almost fell off the dyno

also the heatsoak occurred from the actual charge not rising hot air from the engine

There's a 2000 Jaguar S-Type (V6) for sale in my town, 64,000 miles for $6,900. Two tone paint and purdy rims, I may of found my first car :allears:
unless my mechanic finds something wrong with it/ carfax or something tells me its 164,000 miles instead of 64k :v:
I have a feeling that you are going to end up putting more money into fixing it and maintaining it than what it is actually worth.
lots of people have told me that it will be costly to have work done on a jag but im hoping if anything is wrong with it it wont be something super major.
Oh yeah and theres a mitsubishi 3000GT for sale as well, 170k miles for $2000
Manual transmission, says that the "second gear synchronizer" is worn, i assume thats bad

EDIT:
It's not even the initial repair costs that is the problem. Just the upkeep and the fact that if anything breaks it takes thousands of dollars to fix, especially for a Jag.
does anyone here like jettas?
I would've bought one instead of an elantra, but they were all too expensive :smith:

Doesn't even matter if nothing's wrong with it initially, you're gonna be putting a load of money into it. You'll be paying out the ass for scheduled services if you get them done professionally, and parts will be expensive as balls if you do said services yourself.

They're pretty nice little cars. I was looking at a few myself, but none really caught my eye.

My friend has one exactly like that, except with the V6. Hers is stock, though.
Also, don't get HIDs without getting proper housings for them, else you'll blind everyone else on the road.
Semi related to cars since we are talking about lights.
When I lived in Germany, our apartment had these weird lights on the ceiling that were purplish blue when you looked at them, but made perfectly white light. Are those Halogen?

Not 100%, but I think so.

I looked it up, yeah they were. A while ago my mom purchased some for our accord, I prefer them over HID since you don't need an entire damn makeover to install one.
Anyways, you enjoying the Turbo sound in your Volvo? I've been watching some videos from "SaabKyle" on youtube, and it seems that all Volvo's have a really sweet stereo.

The engine sounds beautiful when it's running.
The stereo is pretty sick, too. I've been listening mostly to the radio (bitches don't know bout my NPR) lately, though, and there's not much difference between Car Talk on a cheap stereo and a really nice one.
