both cost the same but they're my options
yeeeeeeeah i got my car back
So when do all these parts get installed Mike?
Whenever I feel like it, lol. Need to fix the core support first though, it's still messed up. Sometime before Febuary though, when our dyno day is.
My turbo is $1100 new. I think a better analogy would have been that a $1000 turbo is better than a $200 Ebay turbo.
I highly doubt it though, the company that did the crash test is relied on more than the US Government versions. They probably don't want to ruin their credibility.
The thing that most people don't know about that crash test is that the crash test company used a shitty old GM design IIRC.
They called it the X frame. It looked like an X. It was a piece of shit when they made it due to that exact reason. It wrecked like a bitch.

They were showing the differences in safety between back then and today. They didn't have Malibu's back then, and that was the closest comparison.
No it wasn't, it was a rigged test with a car that had a terrible design to make people think old cars will get obliterated in a 30mph crash.

Yeah but they will. They had fucking chrome dashes, so even if the car doesn't get destroyed for some reason, your head will.

ya i meant the whole set up lol, not just the escargot itself
but still a 7000 dollar turbo is still better than a 1000 dollar turbo
My $90 turbo is the best

Yea, good ol' Tennessee.

If you pay that much for a turbo kit you're getting ripped off. So far I have $1700 into my setup and it should be good for 450whp.
I'll probably have less than $600 in my setup when I'm done.
But I'm only looking to make 300ish horsepower.
I'm getting my step dads 1999 dodge durango slt with a 5.9L Magnum v8. I can get it but i am not sure if i want to, because 12mpg is pretty painful. Doesn't matter right now though, i still haven't gotten my license. Still getting kinda excited for getting a car though. It will probably be around the middle of 2011.

What turbo? For your CRX right? With a car that light 300 should be pretty quick.

Yeah, I'm going to prototype the setup on my CRX. 1900lbs and probably 10psi with a relatively high compression engine. After that, everything will bolt over into my wagon after I like how it runs.

I guess when look at the picture of the engine bay you see the difference between modern day cars and this car. Modern cars have all though pieces of crap that clogs the entire front end, making it pretty much a solid block of plastic and sheet metal. While you see how much space there is in this and that the only thing keeping you from the front is a firewall, dash, frame rail, tire, wheel well, and part of the engine. This may be the biggest difference. If you were to occupy that space with something elce, say a high tec suspension system, or some steel tubing this would make it much more rigid and protect you alot better.
I don't know really, I'm kind of just brainstorming.
if anyone wants to buy a whistler xtr-695se radar detector then PM me

the biggest advance in safety has been crumple zones
before crumple zones, the car passed a lot more of the force from an accident onto the passengers
now they will literally sacrifice themselves to save your ass.

The reason they put solid steel tubing in racing vehicles is to protect the driver and maybe a passenger. Both wearing full protective gear Like a flame retardant suit, and helmet. They also only put the safety devices in the cabin since they also want crumple zones. Not to mention most cars with rollcages have the door obstructed if it's an actual cage that isn't just for show. That's what they need help getting out of most cars, and in a highschool parking lot, you wouldn't want to do that in front of the Hotties, now would you?

Driving up from the back, "Oh, they make smaller Buggatti's now?", proceed to pass it with your V6 or I4. "What the fuck? It's a damn Contour..." (The only American Mondeo.)
Guys, if you want a new color for your car, you should just paint it yourself. Like this guy did, looks awesome doesn't it?

You'd be surprised at how small Veyrons are. When I'd seen them on TV I always imagined they were on par with Aston Martins in size as a GT cruiser but having seen one a few months ago parked up outside a pub they are pretty small, about the same size as my car.

Probably not really long lasting though, at least in der colder parts of the world with salt on the roads etc.
