What is power-to-weight ratio and what does it do?
well for every one weight you have, you compare it to every one power you got and then this somehow turns into a conversation about why this makes honda civics with a H24a2 swap better than ford mustangs
what?
no
civics are best because we have VTEC. What does mustang have? yeah, nothing. you know how much horsepowers vtec adds? at least a thousand, my tuner friend told me that when vtec kicked in, its more like a jet engine than a v4

I wish I could get ahold of a Z that had less than 150,000 miles. :(

Does that mean the higher the value, the better it will be?

Also, does any of you guys know this one?
What is power-to-weight ratio and what does it do?
It's just a ratio of power to weight :downs:
Like, say you have a 1500kg car with a power of 150kW, it has 1kW for every 10kg, so thats a power-to-weight ratio of 100W/kg (0.1kW/kg). If you have a 1000kg car with 100kW it has the same power to weight ratio, because although it is less powerful, it is lighter. So you can expect similar performance.
It's a truer indication of a cars performance potential than just looking at power. A higher power-to-weight ratio is better. It can be increased by lowering the weight of a car or increasing the power.

basically it's what everyone else said but it's the reason why my small ass mx-3 can pull on a 3 times more powerful yet 4 times bigger truck
my microwave is rated at 1.2kW

Im looking into a first car and i found the 6 cyl. camaro series from the mid 90's to be pretty appealing. Does anyone have one to vouch for how they are?

if you don`t get the top of the line 90`s camaro it sucks
don`t get it
yeah v6 camaros and mustangs aren't all that great. the new 2011 mustang's v6 option is a helluva lot better though.
i bet you could find a good 90's camaro ss.

If you've got the extra money, go for an 8 cylinder. The best advice I could give you is search around more before you jump on something.

fenders
rocker panels
driver side door
header and valence panels
trunk lid
wiring harness
polyurethane kit
sequential taillight kit
door handles
mirrors
trunk dropdown panels
gas tank mounting metal
parking lights
new dash
some anti squeak kit for the trunk
hood insulation
stuff that isn't in the picture:
entire new floor pan
deluxe houndstooth seats
cut pile carpet
disk brake conversion kit
electric fan
aluminum radiator
rack and pinion steering (the power steering we have is broken and it takes up too much room so we're going manual steering)
new leather interior stuff(interior door panels, speaker tray, etc)
new chin spoiler
emergency brake lines
the only thing that hasn't arrived is the trunk floor pan. otherwise it's only a matter of time until the car is ready :D
also when i was looking under the car, i looked up some numbers on the transmission, and it turns out i have a muncie m22 rock CRUSHER
Can I come help you with this? Sounds like one awesome project. Jk, but seriously

ohio is kinda far from delaware
That ramcharger is running good and everything. Just got to replace the charcoal canister and im good to go get it smogged. So excited. drove it around the block today, and I felt like I could drive over anything I saw. (of course I couldnt but the thing felt so beastly)
This is a 1972 Pontiac Ventura, it had a Pontiac 428 with a Roots type super charger. Its a beautiful car and it not to bad on the track. Its a show car that ain't a slow car. It hasn't been out in the past 2 years but the best quarter mile pass on it was mid-10s. The reason it hasn't been out is due to my dad going through his retirement as well slowly getting its new engine together as well as rebuilding the 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix that has been neglected the last few years.

The paint is a candy blue, the flames are a harlequin so the color changes depending on the angle. The tilt front end mechanism was fabricated by my father along with all metal work on it. The paint was done by a friend of my father who owns a bodyshop.

Telling someone to get an 8 cylinder on a mostly teen forum? Good luck affording the fuel.
Telling someone to get an 8 cylinder on a mostly teen forum? Good luck affording the fuel.
they get acceptable gas mileage if you don't floor it out of every turn
Telling someone to get an 8 cylinder on a mostly teen forum? Good luck affording the fuel.
A V6 from that period wouldn't be getting the best of gas mileage either, if not the same. It's just that insurance is going to charge him the same price for either engine so why not go a step up? That MIGHT be the case if his provider follows the make/model rule. It would be about 4 buck difference per week.
It all depends on his driving style. Not that I would necessarily recommend a Camaro as his first car to begin with.
Protip: If you are close with your parents and would consider putting your car in their name until you're older, do it.
that`s the 2009 lol
So, his is an STi.
they get acceptable gas mileage if you don't floor it out of every turn
True. My Mustang gets ~20 mpg. A tank lasts me about 1 1/2 - 3 weeks, driving less than 10 miles on a usual day.

California's farther and I don't give a fuck about the drive. I just wanna help with the Mustang
