I like the looks of all the Imprezas, but I like the late 90's more.

It looks much better than the original hatchback model.
I think it looks even worse than the hatch. Bring back the look of the first generation imo

yes, my people
Well, without actually seeing whats going on its hard to diagnose, but I think it might be getting too much/not enough fuel at lower rpms. Does it run fine if you rev it? If it does, I would start with either adding or removing fuel at lower rpms, there will be a screw for that.
But it could also just be the idle speed, but thats another area thats hard to diagnose without being there. If you start it after its warmed up and it idles low and tries to die, try tapping the gas just a little. If it smooths out with just that little added gas, than the easiest thing would be to increase the idle speed.
Ok. Thanks for the help man. And yes, it runs fine when reved. I think Ill just find that screw and turn it up. Ill also start waiting a bit longer for it to warm up.
Ho hum. If it is adding too much fuel at low rpms, you will see blue smoke out the exhaust or smell the unburnt fuel. if it isn't adding enough, it will just run like shit but no smoke or smell. If your idle is set low, (I would guess 800rpm on something like that, generally) then it is something with the carburetors fuel settings. They are a bitch to tune, and a good idea to live by is "If you don't know what Lever A does, Lever B" In other words, do a bunch of research before you touch ANY of those screws.
I have a friend that drove a 1967 mustang as his first car. (Yeah I know, the little fucker) Except every other week, I don't know if he was trying to show off or look cool or what, he would fuck with the cool little screws on the front of his carb. Then he would call me or my dad when his car wouldn't start, and lo and behold, he either had the fuel cut off or set to just DUMP into the engine at an astonishing rate.

AH HA. So that is what that terrible smoke. Im assuming it running too rich will screw with it aswell. I really need to learn carbed engines. Thanks for the advice.
Does anybody know of a trustworthy site that has specialized 4 wheeling equip. (Wenches, field jacks, gas cans etc...)?
Also is a 2000lb winch for a truck for $100 a good price? or is that too weak? i plan on taking my truck out in the wilderness, but no extreme rockclimbing.
Yes, corrected from wench. late night posting.
i would think that a wench would have to be paying you if she was 2000lbs
oooooh boy
what are you gonna do now? sell it as a "part car" as we call it here, and buy another car or keep it and use the usable parts for another kia?
We're hoping the insurance will pay us what the car is worth. My dad found an awesome Skoda Octavia (I let him help me find cars. The man is a genious.) for 440,000 ISK. That's very cheap if you must know.
We're just hoping the insurance company let's us keep the tires, because WE JUST BOUGHT THOSE FUCKING NAIL TIRES!

My sister had that Skoda before she got an Astra hatchback and the Skoda wasn't very reliable... but it might've been rampaged by the previous owner though
also, you're icelandic? :buddy:

A 2000lb winch is smaller than the one on my quad, and sometimes its not enough for that. You would need a much more powerful winch.
A forum you can look around that has a lot of things is pirate4x4
Yup, also skoda is a very reliable car! I just like the idea that it's also stick shift. It'll be much easier to drive over the mountains now because our Kia was automatic which is VERY lazy.

What Ford said. a 2000lb winch usually isn't even as much as your truck weighs. I would run an 8,000 pound winch on my pathfinder, and it only weighs 4000 lbs.
Next year's road trip is in the pipeline. A few friends and I are going to drive the Applecross Loop in Scotland, a series of amazing roads finishing at the Applecross Pass, an infamous road even featured on Top Gear for it's amazing thrill drive and views. "In what cars?" I hear you ask. Well rentals is the sensible option, we'll all definitley be ticking the 'Super Cover' insurance option so if one of us is to over to it on a corner and pile it off the side of a mountain we won't have to pay any insurance excess! Being 21 we won't be able to rent anything like an Audi S4 or BMW M3 but we should be able to get our hands on a Clio 192, Golt GTI or Fiat 500 Abart... All cars with enough poke and grip to please.
Really looking forward to it, it looks like it'll be a fun trip.
