fordlord how did you remove your roof racks? did you just use expansion plugs in the holes or did you actually go out and buy the inserts?
fordlord how did you remove your roof racks? did you just use expansion plugs in the holes or did you actually go out and buy the inserts?
Right now I'm saving up to get the inserts from an L wagon, those things are something like $160 new, IIRC.
does it look fine without them?
its really the only reason i havent done mine yet
Without them on, it leaves slits along the roof, they are maybe 3/4" wide and go along the whole roof.
If you look on some of my pics a few pages back, you can see them a little bit.
I don't think they really stand out much, but I would still like the rails from an L wagon just to complete it.

You'll want it more once Im done with the rollcage. 20' of round steel 1.5" tubing is $40. 20' of square steel 1.75" tubing is.... $116.
Looks like Im going to be forced to use the round. I can build it the same. It would just prefer the looks of square. But come to think of it, the round would be easier to use because of the change of angles when it goes around the truck. I can get the saw I need for $100, the compressor and tools (cutter, grinder etc) for about $250. and the welder for $250. All together $600. OR I could smash real hard one weekend and just rent the tools. I plan on doing a concept sketch of the roll cage eventually.

I've got two vids if anyone cares to see them as well.
I think the round tubing looks better personally and like you said, it is a lot easier to fab with. Don't rent the tools, buy them. That way you'll always have em' when you need em'. I so want a project truck. Lucky.
I'm the youngest here but I have the most badass car, in my oppinion. Hell Strike's camaro would be the second best here.
I can show you a picture of the coronet rollcage if it would help you with your truck.
Nice truck justin.
And uh..... Thats good for you Valon.

In my opinion, DOC's truck and my truck are the best here. But like the bolded text says, that's just my opinion, i like trucks more than cars.
And what does age have anything to do with it? I know 15 year olds at my high school that drive Audi's to school as their FIRST CAR. I also know 40 year olds with pieces of shit that don't even get them to point a to point b without breaking down. Age doesn't have anything to do with what you own, really.

Just saw it, mine is a K10 Custom Delux rather than a K20 though.
Can't seem to find the picture of the car, I'll see what I can do tomorrow.
[editline]26th November 2010[/editline]
Also, go with round tubing. And it is better to buy all the tools, incase you or a bud needs to use them later.

Yeah, I figured yours was a K10 because of the stepside.
Your truck looks pretty good all around.

As does yours, I've been thinking of getting the dents and scrapes worked out and giving it a new paint job like you did (which looks damn nice btw) but i can't afford it right now. I could always go for some spray paint but i would like something more professional.
And for the record, mine is a 1977 so it's fairly identical to yours which is pretty awesome, too. Don't see many of these trucks any more. I've heard that mine is probably one of a kind in at least this state, if not further than that, which is pretty cool as well.

Yeah, these are getting rare.
I haven't seen any that are the 73-79 body style on the road. I have seen a few rusting away in peoples yards though. I do see some 80's body styles on the road, but they are usually in poor shape.
I do have a couple of rust holes inside the bed at some of the seams, but other than that there is only some surface rust.
What do you have for a motor?
edberg has the coolest car here
