"Its just an F150. lol you got ripped* off pal." - typical YT user against the Raptor. Made me want to kill him through the internet. [img_thumb]http://www.beyond.ca/i/ford-raptor.jpg[/img_thumb] Is it normal to have sexual feelings towards a truck like this?

[img_thumb]http://www.beyond.ca/i/ford-raptor.jpg[/img_thumb] Is it normal to have sexual feelings towards a truck like this?
The only thing different between that and a regular F150 is the suspension, right? Looks like the only thing different is; Control arms Shocks Fenders Wheels and tires Gear ratios
Nope. Its more like Control arms Suspension geometry shocks fenders hood doors interior dash transmission engine axles tires frame length bed length tailgate electronics
I really want a 1998 NISSAN SKYLINE R34 GT-T. I also want someone to teach me how to fix cars, build engines, shit like that, can anyone help?
Nope. Its more like Control arms Suspension geometry shocks fenders hood doors interior dash transmission engine axles tires frame length bed length tailgate electronics
According to the F150 forums, the differences are the gear ratios, control arms, fenders, wheels and tires, and some changes to the electronics I also see a lot of people saying the Raptor isn't really that great and that if you want an offroad truck, your better off making one
What do you have for a motor?
350 V8 small block 5.7 Lr 4Bbl, as far as i know it's just the stock motor and carb, although it may have been rebuilt at some point. Doesn't put out much power, it struggles to keep up with modern day traffic. I want to get a larger Cam upgrade in it, easy +50 Horses, but my dad doesn't want to deal with tearing the motor apart to put it in (I don't have enough knowledge yet to do it myself, still in highschool, haven't gone to wyotech yet like i want) so that's still kinda an idea. As for rust, i've got a bit of surface rust on the rocker panels i think they are called, below the door underneath, but the steps pretty much hide that and prevent any water from getting in there to make it any worse so it's no big deal. The rest of the truck is rust free, i've still got the original wood bed back there but it is all rotted out so the previous owner just welded a large slab of diamond plate over it to cover it up. No rust in the bed though.
Can't seem to find the picture of the car, I'll see what I can do tomorrow. [editline]26th November 2010[/editline] Also, go with round tubing. And it is better to buy all the tools, incase you or a bud needs to use them later.
Yeah and its MUCH cheaper too. Buying the tools will put off the cage for quite a while seeing as Im pretty poor right now. But the truck's not ready for severe offroading (engine, interior, exterior) wise yet, so I suppose I can just expect to have all the tools by late next year. Shouldnt take me more than a week, at most to fabricate the cage. And the tools would only suit me. My friends are mechanically retarded. [editline]26th November 2010[/editline] Ah yeah rust. Im thinking about sanding any rust I can see. Then covering it in rustoleunm. Any thoughts?

Which are excellent off road for a stock truck. Much better than a regular F150. They have a longer and stronger frame as well IIRC. I did a lot of fucking research on one when they came out, but gave up after I found out they didn't have the 6.2 yet.

I dont see the point in just buying an expensive vehicle just to have one. I enjoy the personal touch a vehicle gets when its personally worked on and customized by the owner.

Overall those are the major changes Fordlord. Even if you add options to some of the F-150's Ford offers, (without the suspension, 6.2, or the offroad options) you'll already be close to if not over the base price of the Raptor. It isn't all that different but it's so worth it. I'm not saying i'm like cumming all over this thing. Just that it looks awesome. Would I much rather build a buggy or trophy truck... you bet your ass I would.
but a team of highly educated engineers with millions of dollars in spending money will do 100x better a job than you ever could
No, not really. they design parts. Then have somebody pu those parts together. Why not (if you have the money) buy those parts and put them together the way you want it? unless you're lazy.
my bro + shitty celicas = ugly rims
every kid at school + hondas, impalas, scion tc's = (constant shitty driving, ugly rims)

Why not (if you have the money) buy those parts and put them together the way you want it? unless you're lazy.
okay the engineers behind the BMW M3 just make the parts then they magically put them together and bam, it drives! what you said first about buying expensive cars is stupid, there`s a reason the cars are expensive, if you`re going to buy an M3, the car is stringently tested to make sure each of the parts work how they`re supposed to, that something isn`t too big or too small and that you can get the most horsepower with the best ride quality and dependability. when you`re building something, you`re just one guy with some shit you bought off the internet, have fun testing how aerodynamic the car is in your garage with some fans and a piece of cardboard (this is for high performance cars, since you mentioned spending a lot of money) you keep saying stupid generalizations like that, how `it`s stupid to spend a lot of money on a car when you can just do it all yourself and if you don`t you`re lazy`, no, no it`s fucking not
He's saying that the design engineers (with millions in spending money) plan/design/test the parts. Those parts are then shipped out to factories all around the country or other countries and are assembled there.

It's not really stupid, it just depends what the person wants to do with their money. If they can afford to build one themselves or buy a car from the factory their going to choose the best option that suits them. If they like cars but have no idea how start a project on one then they are most likely going to buy one from the factory... and opposite for the person who knows how to do build a car. [editline]27th November 2010[/editline]
but he makes it sound like they don`t put any effort into pre configuring how to install these parts and how tight each screw should be tightened etc.
Well yeah they do but they don't physically mass produce hundreds of thousands of vehicles. I think he knows that but again, we all suck at wording things.

My cars fuel tank is leaking :c I'm having it welded.
that's an easy job to do in your driveway. maybe put a finger where the gas tank is leaking, and then just weld around it and quickly remove your finger to weld the last spot. shouldnt take more than 10 minutes, and its perfectly safe!
no just use jb weld bro
