Concept cars are always so strange. Except for the original dodge charger concept, that car was fucking sexy.

Takes a little bit to notice it is a 4 door.
lol that anti hotlinking picture again
K so i thought 4 bangers were supposed to be GOOD on gas? I"ve been driving a Pontiac G6 with the 2.4 Ecotec for 3 weeks, and I'm only getting 13.9MPG (16.9L/100km)...... Granted I'm idling it for 5 minutes before I leave since its -20 outside, but I still get 17.5MPG outta my 4L V6 under the same conditions AND driving style.... Like Holy shit I certainly hope something is wrong wit this particular car, cuz thats pretty fucked up.
what's it supposed to get?
So the Celica is out of the window for my girlfriend. We went to see a couple of she just didn't like them.
We're gonna look at a couple of Honda CRXs that she may like:

Ricetastic but I think it would be a good car for her, plenty quick enough. 0-60 in around 7 seconds and should handle well enough if they drive anything like the old Civi VTis which they are based on. Just trying to find a good one with a full working transtop roof. Plus these can be bought for peanuts, about £2,000 for a well looked after model.
They're not that bad, I'm a mopar man though. Seriously think about buying that dart though, that is a killer deal.
I want something that'll be able to handle the twisty roads near where I live and be able to drive in the snow. That Dart is neither.
First actual snow going on right now. Was expecting a few inches on the roads in my neighborhood but a salt truck went by 6 times.... 6 TIMES. Not plowing, just laying down salt. Needless to say I'm pretty pissed.
went to a nearby gravelpit for some snow drifting with a friend today :v:
me in a volvo 240, my friend in a ford sierra.
back part of his exhaust fell off :v:
the gravel pit looks like a rallycross track now
most fun i've ever had
Pictures incoming of my disappointment.
The pictures underplay how hard it was actually snowing but it wasn't a blizzard. Usually this road is packed with at least 3 inches of snow and ice

It wants more snow

Just on that short drive I've concluded that few people in Cincinnati take snowy roads seriously.

I'd probably get the Volvo. It's safe, and you'll probably wreck again.

And that is? Don't be naive. The dart will handle the snow better than this piece of shit. Get a truck or something if you want to drive in snow...or at least an suv. And what makes you think the dart can't handle twisty roads? My 40 year old truck lifted 4 1/2 inches that barely fits inside the lines on the road handles twisty roads fine, this dart will handle it better than my truck...
(the reason i say piece of shit is because its just the same old typical car you see EVERYONE driving today...Most people hopefully understand what i mean by this, can't think of any other way to explain it)

On a more helpful note, you may try a pickup truck, a jeep, or most any other suv:

All-wheel drive is a lot easier than rear-wheel drive with a big torquey engine in the snow.

Eh just go easy on the gas and ease up to speed so you don't slip. You might have take off problems but it is not like AWD is going to help you stop.
is this a good deal

And it still won't help you if you don't have the traction to show for it.
Which is why i say get a truck/suv with 4x4 with some good all terrain tires or something.
Dammit, my mom got a chevy tahoe and I get her old Ford Explorer, I gotta buy a new radio for it too since the display on it is fucked.
Get the audi if you want, I'm just saying you may enjoy it in the summer but once you get snow hitting the ground you are going to regret it.
I had a 97 Jimmy (suv) with 4x4 that i would use on the streets AFTER they salted it, and i was still sliding all over the road, because i had street tires, same as that car. And i live in Albuquerque, A desert wasteland. Don't know where you live but I'm sure you get more snow than me.
Geeee! Fitted my coilovers and painted my steel rims black. It looks like an entirely new car, a better one at that!

yee bro this AWD car with 230-250 stock hp is a piece of shit that`s way worse than a old ass dart :)
yee bro this AWD car with 230-250 stock hp is a piece of shit that`s way worse than a old ass dart :)
My 45 year old truck has 250 hp stock, you're point? And old means shit, just cause it's old doesn't mean it's any less reliable, my truck is far more reliable than some audi, it will take anything the audi will, but go everywhere the audi won't, including in snow.
and AWD and traction control means jack shit when you're on snow and ice, i don't understand why you can't realize that...Hardpacked snow on a rally race like what lord went to is different than freshly fallen snow and slush on black top pavement, you will spin tires, my truck spins tires and i built it for this kind of shit...

**Mpntball2012 from another account**
Why dammit? Program your channels and you'll be fine... until you reset the system. Although I can say that it gets annoying. What year? 4.0 or 5.0?

Agreed, mines AWD and I thought it'd drive in the slow like a mountain goat. I was wrong, any bit of throttle sends you into a mad 4 wheel drift.
It feels good to have another 4x4 fan in the group
The durango I drive slips like no other in slight rain or slush and don't even talk about snow in 2wd. The second I put it in 4wd it is cruises through snow like no other. Also I have the 4.7 v8 with 235 horsepower and around 300 foot pounds of torque.
My Ex only has a 210/245 4.0, which is just fine for me considering the 5.0 comes with AWD and not 4 wheel. Took it out today and it only skipped when I gave a larger tap of the throttle or on slush.

Agreed.
On the rally I went on, it was a bit above freezing, and the grip on surfaces went (from worst to best);
Ice, soft pack, hard pack, tar.
The soft pack would get in your tires and basically make your tires slicks, unless you got them spinning fast enough to get the snow out.
Driving offroad in snow and onroad in snow is a lot different. Snow on tar roads tends to be a lot slipperier.

Basically what i was trying to say.
Think of when you're walking on snow...Soft snow is going to compact and make it hard to walk on (or fill the tread on your shoes and make it slippery), hard packed snow is going to be fairly easy to walk on, where as slush and ice is going to make you fall on your ass...Same with tires on a car. And like you said, tar/asphalt is going to be even more slippery than offroad.

hahaha so you think your 45 year old truck weighs the same as a newer car?
My car has 130hp and a new Ram has like twice that much, my car's still faster than it, WHAT DO
[editline]4th December 2010[/editline]
Unless you really need a truck (towing stuff, driving around a lot of stuff), then buying one is a total waste of money. Awful fuel economy, slow, etc. etc.
Do you see everyone who doesn`t have a truck just slipping and sliding everywhere they go in the winter? NOPE. Just those that can't drive, my FWD car is fine in the winter cause I don't floor the fuck out of it in corners and we get more snow than most people in the world.
