I loved these.
I don't think the film did them justice
I read the first three, but never really got round to reading the others. They were pretty weird books though, and one of my favourite series.
I still have the full series from when I was a elementary school
I read through all of them, it is a great series
Oh shit, I remember this being read out in primary school.
We never got to the last book, I might want to hunt them down and read them all...
I read every single one of them a few months/weeks before the final book came out and read that one from start to finish from when I got home from school until I finished it.
Way better than Harry Potter, I think.
Read all of the books. Am I the only one who thought the movie was absolute garbage?
Your're stupid.
I never read the books, although I've never heard anything worse than "they're the best books you'll ever read." I did watch the movie, which was alright.
I remember seeing a bit of the movie, I didn't like it that much but it wasn't terrible. These are the kinds of books that you create the imagery for.
Like, in the Austere Academy I almost always pictured them as being outside.
I still enjoyed the books, despite the FUCKING ANTICLIMACTIC ENDING.
I've read them all but I never really understood the story, Every book was just a new chapter of What the fuck is happening land.
No he doesn't
He does for movies that shouldn't be funny. I don't dislike him, by any means, but the way he acted in this movie absolutely killed it.
one of my favorite series in middle school, except for the lame-ass ending.

It was a fun movie, but not at all true to the books. Cramming three books into one movie was good and bad... I don't think the first couple of books could be a movie on their own, but at the same time, stuffing them together made it feel rushed and they had to come up with weird 'endings'.
The books were amazing, the film was shit.
I loved this series, by the way. I remember I read the last two books in their entirety on the day each came out. In retrospect, some of the attempts at ongoing mysteries (VFD, for example) lost a bit of steam over time, but in all it was absolutely great.
I only read up to The Slippery Slope but enjoyed the series. Can anybody remind me at what age Violot had to become to legally obtain the money left by her parents?
I found about this thing trought the game made me read the books.
I remembered these. I really didnt get into them. The only book series I ever got into was the giver series.
I loved this book series but never got to finish it, good to know that there's still a few to read. Also the new book series that Snicket is currently producing sounds like it might be interesting as well.
I only saw the movie, back when I was in like 5th grade.

What the fuck did I just read.
ending disappointed me
i cant even remember reading these
I liked the whole steampunk feel of the series, as well as not knowing exactly when the series happened. It happened sometime in the 20th century, I'm assuming, but I'm not sure WHEN.
Loved these books.
As for the film: if Jim Carrey wasn't there to cheer things up it would have been a shit movie.
i lol'd at:
"-This... is a little piece I like to call, The Electric Chair...............
..............................DAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
and
"Let us go back to the time when dinosaurs ruled the earth! gnararagrrrraarra"
Extreme nostalgia rush
I've still got all the books on a shelf right beside me. I'm fairly sure it's time to revisit my childhood.
Got all of them, my brother read 'em all but I only got to the Grim Grotto. Such a good series.
I remember back in 7th grade we went on a field trip to see the movie :iia:
