I met Lemony Snicket in person a few years ago at a book signing. He's pretty funny.
I remember reading these while I was in elementary school.
I think I read up until the carnival one
When I was in elementary school, these books served as a new age Pokemon for me. That is, I saw all the kids playing Pokemon, but my parents never got me the game or the game system. It looked so damn fun; the same was with these books. EVERYONE was reading them, and they said great things about it. I only saw the covers, and made up stories myself based on the covers. Never got around to reading it, as I had no money to buy it from the school library.
I loved this series, never got around to finishing it, but read most of it.
I got up to The Vile Village. I really wish I'd finished them, hell I'm getting the urge to read them all now. Sadly I dont remember a lot of what I read so far, it was soooo long ago. I just remember enjoying them all.
Holy hell, this was one of the best series of books I've ever read.
When I saw the illustration of Count Olaf looking through the door peep hole in the first book I nearly shat myself....
But they're great books all the same
I've read all 13 of these and they're definitely my favorite book series I've ever read. The humor is awesome and is still funny to me even though it's been forever since I've read them (of course I haven't read many humorous books so I'm not sure how it compares).
My grandma bought me The End, she's not here anymore :smith:.
Someone wanna tell me how it all ends?
Spoiler tag that shit though
I remember these being a huge deal in Elementary School..
I remember everyone reading these in elementary school. They had an offer to buy the box set for $30 in a book-order form, should've got that when I had the chance.
I loved these books, could never read all of them as both the school library and the public have few copies. So I never had a chance to read all of them, and I got to read very few of the books in actual chronological order. The ones I did read were awesome, proper order or not.

On topic, this was probably the only book series I read from start to finish. It actually kept me hooked.

It ended up meaning exactly what I thought it meant from the first time I heard it. Kind of a letdown.
I first read Hostile Hospital, and absolutely loved it. Through the years, I collected all the books and now I read them every so often. I find myself going through the whole series when I read them.
Part of my childhood are those books.
My god I loved this series when I was younger. I remember making a model that was supposed to be based around part of one of the books as a class project.

You knew it was [sp]Very Fancy Dollies[/sp] from the beginning? :v:
I loved this series and it’s Deep, interesting plot, with gothic overtones and a sad storyline that kept you hoping for at least a bittersweet victory. A staple of my later childhood.
Though, by the last book, the plot jumped off "Mount. Silly-fuckery" and didn't survive the landing. But the supplementary books were interesting.
Also, i actually missed out on the 4th book, because we couldn't find a copy anywhere, but by the time i got to the 6th book, we found one. It’s okay though, the middle section of the saga you can read without reading the ones before it.
Of course, reading the first and second is necessary, and after the 8 it’s mostly connected.
I never got round to reading it, but I might now. Although I did not read them because I thought they were horror genre books, which I have an irrational fear of. They actually sound pretty interesting.
Man, I really loved these books. I was a member of the official forum for nearly 5 years until it closed down. :3
But I can't remember, but I have a horrible feeling I sold them all to a friend. Shit sucks.
I almost read all of them. I only read half of the one about the carnival. They were really good.
I read all of them besides from the last one, The End. I kinda lost interest especially when a long while ago there was a guy I didn't like who just decided to spoil the whole ending for me just for his kicks.

I actually came up with [sp]Volunteer Fire Department[/sp] before he actually said it was that.

oh god what
Almost read all of these, stopped at The Grim Grotto, I should probably finish these.
I love these books, I have the entire series and the autobiography. I also think I have the Beatrice Letters somewhere too.
[editline]edit[/editline]
I once had a dream where an additional series of 23 books where released in the series.
Read them in ~8th grade I believe, they were awesome.
I didn't like how the series ended, left me with a weird feeling.
Sunny was the best character.
Eh, my grandmother bought me the whole book set when I was younger, after that I only read up to The Miserable Mill because I am a lazy bastard.
