I remap all my games to ESDF, More keys around it for extra stuff.
Wasn't that the normal movement layout in Tribes 2? Seriously I read that and the memory hit me.
I should remap my keys to ESDF since I always accidentally put my hand too far to the right!
why dont you make that 236 wpm?
Who needs to type at 236 WPM?
No way I am switching keyboard layouts. I need to be able to type well on other keyboards not just my own.
My old RS teacher used one of these when her arthritis was getting to here. After a year she lost the use of her right hand and switched to one of these

Hmm. My conception of the design of QWERTY is that they put more often used keys apart to reduce jamming the mechanism of type writers. I have no idea where I heard it, so I'm probably wrong :saddowns: I've been tempted to try Dvorak for a while now. I might switch to it and change my keyboard's keys around for it tomorrow :v:
The Dvorak Simplified Keyboard (pronounced /ˈdvɔræk/) is a keyboard layout patented in 1936 by Dr. August Dvorak and his brother-in-law, Dr. William Dealey. Over the years several slight variations were designed by the team led by Dvorak or by ANSI. These variations have been collectively or individually also called the Simplified Keyboard or American Simplified Keyboard but they all have come to be commonly known as the Dvorak keyboard or Dvorak layout. Dvorak proponents claim the Dvorak layout uses less finger motion, increases typing rate, and reduces errors compared to the standard QWERTY[1] keyboard. This reduction in finger distance traveled was originally purported to permit faster rates of typing, but in later years is also purported to reduce repetitive-strain injuries, including carpal tunnel syndrome.
fixed In case you didn't realise, purport is often a false claim

My sister use Dvorak all the time and she types fast as fuck. But she uses Linux all the time and don't play any other PC games than the Sims 3 (on windows ofc, multiboot)

THE HORROR BUT THATS NOT ALL OH THE HORROR /caps
No thanks, QWERTY is way more known and widely used, out of sheer practicality I'd stay on QWERTY. Not to mention I don't really care about my WPM.
they made qwerty to slow you down back in the day because people would type too fast on typewriters and the keys would jam
I thought it was so that commonly used keys would not be too close too each other, so that the risk of pressing two adjacent keys at once would be reduced.
I get like 120 WPM with my good keyboard and screw this, almost everyone uses the qwerty format anyways
I don't like how the vowels are all squashed together.
That's the point though.
I remap all my games to ESDF, More keys around it for extra stuff.
Remove the S and you get EDF! EDF! EDF! EDF! Medal if you get the reference.
that said, I have my own unique typing style (I never bought into the "standard" aligned fingers typing method they teach in school) so I don't see the point of this
Agreed, the type they teach is awful. I remember in elementary and middle school when we took "computer" classes (where they just taught you how to use a keyboard) the teacher would get angry at me when I used my own typing style that was way faster than the shit they try to teach.
Good ol' AZERTY keyboard
At least it has a 0 key
The "computer class" in my elementary tried to teach us to use the shift key for only certain letters. Shit now you guys got me thinking about typing again. ARGG THIS TOOK FIVE MINUTES TO TYPE!
I'd be interested in giving this a go on a dvorak keyboard (with the right letters on each key).
Truly I see no point on learning the Dvorak keyboard. If you grew up using Qwerty on the keyboard and typewriters, then trying to retrain your brain would take so long for such a unused format would be recockulous.
But Im already used to querty.
Who doesn't use QWERTY?
Who doesn't use QWERTY?
People who are familiar with the AZERTY keyboard.
Shit looks confusing as hell.
Fuck every keyboard in this thread besides qwerty, seriously. It must be so much harder to learn another keyboard when you already know the qwerty one, as opposed to not knowing one at all.
