Except that my anxiety affects other stuff than just my high.
Sure, get therapy and then stop smoking weed, it's not for everyone unfortunately.
I used to get I'd say occasional panic attacks that were very mild when I started smoking weed and with time I've built an healthy relationship with drugs and I don't have those any more. I guess OP could, with time get along with weed and stop having these panic attacks over time. I remember that I used to twitch a lot when high and I sometimes felt uncomfortable but I stopped having these feelings.
You need to calm down. Weed is good for you, literally. And you shouldn't be feeling pain as marijuana is a potent painkiller, I suggest you attempt to find out if your weed is laced or just not good.

lol it's not a potent painkiller don't be ridiculous. Pain I have before and after is identical. You can psychologically ignore the pain but I'm doubtful it has any physical analgesic effects.
Also, it's ridiculous to say weed is good for you, it's just not bad for you. You're the sort of person that give us a bad name, arguing ridiculous left wing views that you aren't validating.
Back in Feb. I started smoking every day, still haven't stopped. About 3 weeks later, I was high in the shower, and I had some weird pain in my foot, and I got all freaked out and pretty cause myself to have a panic attack. Sound would freak me the hell out, and this pain in my foot was so intense, I felt like my veins would rip out of my feet.
Ever since then, smoking weed has always been a little odd. I get pains in my lower abdomen sometimes, or my neck, sometimes my left arm. I've had a handful of panic attacks since then, but I still have good highs. I pretty much always tweak out (get really hyper/jittery).
I know for a fact that I have social anxiety, but I was diagnosed with ADHD as a kid. I used to take Ritalin like 8 years ago, and have been on Strattera for about 5 years now. I stopped my Strattera after the first panic attack because I figured that might have been a cause, and oddly enough, nothing changed (as in, NOTHING, I used to be hyper as fuck off my Strattera and now I'm not).
I'm 99% sure I just get anxious and all my physical symptoms are all just anxiety-related, but the goddamn 1% uncertainty ruins it. I feel my heart pounding sometimes, and I just start to panic. Thoughts?
More importantly: how do I start having awesome highs again?
For the awesome highs, Just wait about a week, because your body builds up a tolerence over time. Wait as long as you see fit and happy tripping!
You can tell a Doctor about you taking Weed, it's their Hippocratic oath NOT to tell others (Police included).

Taking the Hippocratic Oath is not required by modern medical doctors.

Ah, good. I get the twitching, and the longer it's gone on, the panic attacks are less intense. I still get a pain in my lower abdomen, but I probably have some bowel issues (lol, maybe I just don't eat enough fiber) or something. I actually noticed this yesterday, but my mindset in the first 5 or so minutes after smoking affects my entire high. I always try and be too serious or too focused on stuff I think, and if I just chill out and stuff, I usually have good highs. I only have bad ones if I start focusing on some insignificant pain and then it progresses (in my mind probably) and just starts to hurt more. Problem is, I'm not even sure the pain is real.
Oh, and there's never any pain if I'm out skateboarding...
Pengas
Oh, and there's never any pain if I'm out skateboarding...
I guess you're only feeling pain when you're not thinking about something else, try watching a movie or listening to music it might just work.
Read the following while you are stoned, OP.
You have cancer. You are going to die very soon
Take it from me. If weed brings out a mental condition, stop smoking it.
I now have schizophrenia.
Huh, you have ADHD and you thought smoking EVERY DAY was a good idea?
Back in Feb. I started smoking every day,
More importantly: how do I start having awesome highs again?
I've had this EXACT thing, I smoke every day still and it's basically the same as before I had my first panic attack. You've already made the first step, You know it's in your head. Just stop believing in that 1% uncertainty. The heart pounding thing I've had EXACTLY as you've described, And I freaked the fuck out and started getting them when sober too. All it is, is you notice you have a slightly fast heart-rate, This scares you, Which causes your body to start releasing adrenaline which makes your heart beat faster and you get more scared; You have to do something almost Buddha, Just LET IT GO. This is the lesson weed is supposed to teach us brother, To let things go and be content.
If you don't fear it, It can't hurt you.
To be honest, this is the only thing I actually believe about weed. It really does bring on anxiety disorders that are irreversible a lot of the time. If you're having anxiety from weed, don't just get benzos and continue, stop smoking, it's just not for you. My mate has been fucked up for life from smoking weed daily. It's caused him to have a huge anxiety disorder, and it's not uncommon either.
Hurr, that's why weed can be prescribed for anxiety. Other mental factors come into play that can come from weed (Fear of getting caught, fear from ignorance etc) that can cause anxiety. But weed on its own? no.
Personally I believe anxiety is hard wired when you reach a certain age. There's no turning back. "Treatment" implied medication but I do believe therapy CAN work too, however getting therapy so you can use a drug seems dumb as fuck. It really is one of the only negatives about weed but it really does cause anxiety long-term in a minority of users. Look on erowid and you'll see a lot of interesting experiences with that.
Don't post personal opinions in a thread about medical issues; Science doesn't agree with you, and you are in no place to make these claims and try to get other people to believe you.
You are aware that there's other ways of treating anxiety, right? Medicine is garbage anyways. I know quite a few people who've done therapy or something for anxiety and it gets rid of it. Anxiety is one of those things that isn't hard-wired, since it's mostly just an emotion.
I'm ADHD, it fucking helps me out a shitload on it's own if it's a sativa, and if it's an indica smoking with my adderall works to help combat the side effects.

Weed can definitely cause anxiety problems.
Weed can definitely cause anxiety problems.
Anxiety issues caused from weed are more or less "learned" over a period of time... In other words what you do stoned will be imprinted onto your sober half and you'll start to do that.
In other words it's not the weed; it's you. (well not so much as your fault for it, but it stems from shit that you do when you are stoned)

It's also prescribed for chronic pain yet I find that it increases my perception of pain. It's psychadelic afterall, it does what we think it's going to do a lot of the time. Fuck off about anxiety. There's no doubt that it does cause permanent anxiety disorders from chronic use and although the drug is very healthy if you go to a more technological drugs forum such as bluelight you'll see a lot of reputable people talking about this.
And since posting this thread, I've been pretty fine mostly. Still no breaks, and only two occasions of "anxiety" that I've shrugged off in about 5 minutes. It's all about my mindset when smoking, if I get scared of a pain or something, I'll get anxious. But if I just relax/hang out with friends/whatever, I'm 100% fine.
Guess my problem was that I was just letting myself get anxious, but after 5 months, I've pretty much learned how to deal with it and to ignore it.
yet I find that it increases my perception of pain.
This was mostly my problem, but after talking to a lot of my friends, I found out it's pretty common, thus I stopped freaking out whenever I'd feel something.
I don't buy the permanent anxiety bullshit though, because it's all about your state of mind and what you think is going to happen. I'd get anxious just thinking about past experiences and anxiety. Now it just doesn't cross my mind anymore and I'm fine.
When you say you smoke every day, how much is that everyday?
I personally know a guy who's got a permanent panic disorder as a result of 2 years chronic smoking. I also have read the reports of many people having similar issues on Erowid and Bluelight. Sure, it's not that common but it definitely happens, which sucks because it's so innocent otherwise.
When you say you smoke every day, how much is that everyday?
It depends, something like 0.3 g usually, some days with friends it could be up to 2 grams.

One) it's used to help people focus on other shit then the pain. If you go and smoke and only think about the pain of course it's going to make it worse you're putting all of your focus on it.
Two) find the science to back up your "it gave me xxx disorder". Anecdotes =/= science.

How long is chronic use? I've been smoking a bit over a gram a day for the last 5 months now, but still did it a lot before, and haven't encountered any problems yet. I'd stop if it did give me any problems though, but i can't see it happening to me
Chronic use tends to imply > 1 year with drugs but normally it's more than 2 years. Anecdotes are all we have on the subject but empirical evidence on weed is fucking dumb anyway. Lung cancer, schizophrenia shit etc.
It depends, something like 0.3 g usually, some days with friends it could be up to 2 grams.
Cause I've been smoking close to everyday for about a year and a half with friends and I haven't found there to be any problems.
Chronic use tends to imply > 1 year with drugs but normally it's more than 2 years. Anecdotes are all we have on the subject but empirical evidence on weed is fucking dumb anyway. Lung cancer, schizophrenia shit etc.
Enpirical data is needed, otherwise anecdotes mean shit. I could say I can flap my arms and fly, but with out the data to prove it my story means shit.
You just don't develp anxiety issues from nowhere chances are he already had one, and his envioment combined with the weed made it worse, but weed alone no. You act as if the guy sat there and did nothing for those two years besides smoke, I'm sure there was much more than that going on with him to creating the issue.
Now stop blaming a neutral plant, it's up to the user how shit goes down.
No weed, just like any other drug, can exacerbate or bring on certain side effects such as anxiety. Don't glorify it with "neutral plant" bs...
No weed, just like any other drug, can exacerbate or bring on certain side effects such as anxiety. Don't glorify it with "neutral plant" bs...
It can exacerbate.
It can't cause.
He's claiming cause.
I hate people who claim weed is PERFECTLY safe and you should smoke it 24/7. I know it's really safe and much safer than Alcohol but there's absolutely no doubt that it can bring on panic in individuals you'd never expect it in.
The difference between cause and exacerbate is hard to define but I'm going to say that if he didn't have any panic attacks before smoking. Then after 2 years has them all the time now. That's caused an issue, not exacerbated it.
Fuck off with your dumbass 420 shit. Weed is healthy but it's not for everybody and all drugs worth doing have negatives.
Not all people can handle smoking weed often. Sucks for them
