That's cool.
Does anyone know what program he's using at 0:58?
I think it's SolidWorks.
Awkwardly picked up cans, held a plastic leek(why?), and fired water rockets. Here I was worried Japan had pushed out technology that would take another three years to reach the U.S
And to think, these variations are available to the public now [editline]14th March 2011[/editline]
Was expecting [img_thumb]http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100312192114/stalker/images/d/d3/Freedom_Exoskeleton.jpg[/img_thumb] God damnit now i feel stupid.
Hey, this almost looks like that!
Does anyone know what program he's using at 0:58?
The program is called Solidworks as someone mentioned above (don't know who the tool was who disagreed with him), it's pretty much industry standard for mechanical engineering, they don't use art-style programs like XSI or 3dsmax. Everything is feature based, ie, you draw a square and extrude it into a cube, then you can put chamfers/fillets on the edges, drill in screwholes etc. You can then create an assembly with all your parts together that will joint on hinges you place in or such. I'm working on educational software to teach people how to program industrial robot arms, so I used solidworks to make a simplistic assembly of the arm before I imported it to blender for UV mapping then being sent to a program I'm writing. This is an example of an assembly view like his, with the arm set up (it's a Toshiba 1050 series) You can click on any of the arms and drag and it'll rotate around the joints I've set up.
It looked identical to the Autodesk Mechanical I've been using for 2 years, haven't ever heard of solidworks and it didn't help that it was only a ten-second clip of him moving a joint in it. How does that make me a tool, or does saying that just make you feel like a big boy?
The flicking the can part didn't look right to me. I'm glad the bloopers showed me why.
Holy shit, firefighter exosuits, that's an awesome idea They'd be much stronger, completely fireproof, and have more oxygen, it'd take half as many firefighters half as long as usual
Not a great idea, a lot of the time, firefighters don't have a lot of room to move in, an exosuit would be cumbersome. What firefighters do when they go into a building on fire is they keep a wall to their side and pretty much search with their sense of touch, visibility is basically zero, an exosuit would fuck with their sense of touch, hell, if it was a powered exosuit, they might even hurt someone by bumping into them while searching.
They should wrap it in cloth or something, except for a slit to see through, and then run around outside as a giant robot and scare people
How easy would it be, with the aid of some lightweight sheet metal, to turn that into one of THESE fuckers... [img_thumb]http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1252428_99120101014_SMDreadnoughtmain_445x319.jpg[/img_thumb]
Not very easy. The real achievement here is how he made it so light, yet still strong and stiff enough. A lot more time and money went into this project than the few scenes in the machine shop. Also, lol at his drill bit tapping (I'm guessing the captions explain its edited to look funny...subs?).
Now all it needs is weapons and we can start WWIII!!!
good job missing the point [editline]10th March 2011[/editline] first of all it extends your reach, and second of all you need unpowered exoskeletons before you can have powered exoskeletons. besides, who WOULDN'T want one of these [editline]10th March 2011[/editline] and branches dont have fingers you can operate
Yeah all I see from this is maybe SCVs coming into existence.

Either way though I think you're getting way too defensive over messing up.
[img_thumb]http://i53.tinypic.com/15nokmc.jpg[/img_thumb]
What is that from?
Aliens, same as this line:
"Get away from her you BITCH!"
Holy fuck japan is so cool
Reminds me of this thing. I'll bet it functions on the same basic design.
