it was fucking awesome to have it back but i noticed a distinct lack of gratuitous violence. i think maybe two inmates got chopped in half?
shit you're right this episode was missing the last few minutes of gratuitous violence that comprises nearly every episode blasphemy i say BLASPHEMY
Ah god damn missed it. I had completely forgotten :smithicide:
I guess we have to wait until next week for it to be up on the website (according to a post on their boards). Well fuck, I want to see if this new season is any good or not.
That was AWESOME but where was the bloodbath scene?
I was confused when there was no slaughter scene? There was maybe a total of 4+ people that got killed in the entire episode.

From the Wikipedia page on Superjail!: "Beginning with the second season, the creators modified the format of the series to focus more on character development and story as opposed to simply providing a pretext for the slaughters that characterized each episode in the first season.[7] The second season premier "Best Friends Forever" demonstrated an immediate break from the first season's template, focusing the episode on Jailbot and Jared as opposed to the Warden[8], setting half of the episode outside of the prison, and lacking an extended fight sequence in the climax."

I think the newest episode was really lacking, in all honesty It wasn't nearly as funny as episodes from the first season, it was way too serious to be true Superjail!.

But I'll keep watching to see how this goes.
It's about fucking time. Loved it, I was only sad that the intro was cut short when [sp]Jailbot got knocked down on it's way to Superjail[/sp] [editline]4th April 2011[/editline] They need to bring back the violence that made Superjail! what it is today.
This happens in like every thread. A change in one episode makes everybody believe that it is going to be like that in every episode, and then they demand that it reverts to the original formula. Just wait for more episodes to see how they go. I highly doubt they are going to abandon the long gore scenes that made them so popular. But I don't think they are going to have one in every episode. [editline]5th April 2011[/editline] And just to make people stop worrying, from this interview.
Geek: From the sound of it, it looks like there’ll be fewer whirling engines of chaos than in the first season. SW: No, no— CK: I think it might have more!
They aren't abandoning the long gore filled scenes. Just because one episode in the season doesn't have it, it does not mean that no episodes will have it.
Geek: In the process of writing every episode, do you have a template for how the story will ultimately end up in that final series of chaotic visuals that will just about kill all the characters? SW: I think that was more the template for the first season. This season definitely has… varying templates, I’d say. CK: Yeah, that’s kind of what the network wanted us to get away from. It feels a lot more like a show now. Our big thing was how do give this a narrative and give a s*** about these characters, but then keep all of the craziness of the first season so it feels like the same show? So we’d really talk about the story and work on it. [There’s] definitely still a ton of fighting and violence [but] I don’t think every episode has that one minute fight anymore. But they all tend to build up to some kind of climax. Also, I think this season—much more than the first season—there’s a lot more animation. Even when two characters are having a conversation, the stuff that’s going on in the background or around them is very crazy so it still has that “I’ve got to watch this again” feeling like you missed a bunch of stuff. I think it lost some of the craziness but it gained character and story and it feels really good. And it was a little bit of a figuring it out [process] too, like how are we going to keep it like [the] first season. And I feel like it retained it real good. I feel some of them are just completely insane. We’re feeling really psyched, I’m really psyched to see what people think that were fans of the first season. And I’m hoping that maybe we can get more fans that can maybe get more into the story now—I see how the show might be too crazy [for new viewers]. People are going to love it or hate it, I think, and I don’t think there’s much in between like, “Yeah, I kinda like that show.”
But from the same article it says that there isn't going to be a full gore scene in every episode, which I don't mind as long as it is entertaining. The issue with anything popular that starts a pattern is that the hardcore fans expect that pattern to always be fulfilled, which is really limiting to the developers. Take Dream Theater and how the end of their albums are always the start of the next album. Or how Kenny always dies in South Park (they eventually had to stop doing it because they were getting sick of forcing it). I think it is good they broke away from the pattern early. The animation is very much improved since S. 1.

The new, smooth animation style somehow hurts my eyes.
The new episode was some how heartwarming [sp]at the end.[/sp]
I don't like the new season's animation as much season one, it looked more hand-drawn.
I don't like the new season's animation as much season one, it looked more hand-drawn.
They just switched from flash to traditional so i think it is an improvement.
They just switched from flash to traditional so i think it is an improvement.
season 1 was flash? no way
I fucking love this, it's very fluid.
Will characters still behave as though they're made of warm butter this time around? Or will it take more then a casually flung piece of glass to harm them.
this fucking show oh my god I love it
Yay a new episode! That was amazing
New Episode is still amazing as fuck, even without the slaughter.
Wow I can't believe I hadn't heard of this 'till now. It's fucking amazing.
I swear I heard Alice say 'welp' in the newest episode
I swear I heard Alice say 'welp' in the newest episode
she did
