this is the origin story for the first human green lantern.
Canonically, this is the first and better human Green Lantern (even though he had a different ring, a.k.a the Starheart),: But Hal was the first human GLC member You know, it would be cool if they gave Alan Scott a little cameo somehow.

[editline]26th March 2011[/editline]
Surprisingly doesn't look too bad, but I wish they made it a black guy like in the Justice League show on cartoon network.
Why does everyone say that? That's like saying you wish they had Steel or Cyborg instead of Superman in the Superman movies.
who says they didn't?
Well, I've befriended and gotten to know a couple people, who work at my nearest comic book store. It's about a 5-10 minute free bus ride. Anyway, everyone I've spoken to there thinks that there's no chance of that happening whatsoever, and I do think there's a fairly good chance of them mentioning him in passing, but I don't think they could pull off a live cameo properly. Furthermore, I think he has one of the best origin stories, and I have a feeling that's already completely gone to waste, wouldn't you agree?

It's the guy who played Jango Fett. Fun fact!
But Hal was the first human GLC member You know, it would be cool if they gave Alan Scott a little cameo somehow.
Alan Scott does have a cameo in it he narrates in the movie, not quite a cameo i know but its something.
I don't like his suit.. Looks like he has a layer of Green Muscle on or.. Or a nano suit. Other then that, I'm looking forward to it. Still think it should have been Nathan Fillion.
Alan Scott does have a cameo in it he narrates in the movie, not quite a cameo i know but its something.
How do you know?
i thought it was well known he would there was an interview where it was mentioned he would.........hang on i'll try to find it.
I really dislike the suits in this, they're so CGI.
I don't like his suit.. Looks like he has a layer of Green Muscle on or.. Or a nano suit. I'm not much of a Ryan Reynolds fan, I can't take him seriously.

I ran into someone a few weeks back who came into the comic book shop and said i quote......"Oh i don't give a shit about Green Lantern or w/e the fuck that crap is im just going to see it because Ryan Reynold's is in it".........however the fuck i did not commit murder that day is a mystery only Batman himself could Solve.
Alan Scott does have a cameo in it he narrates in the movie, not quite a cameo i know but its something.
Rong brought up an interesting point, where did you hear this exactly? Can you verify it?
Yeah I'm sure they're experts on the comics, but for the films, that really doesn't mean very much. Movies are known to stray from source material in any number of ways, so just being an expert on the original doesn't mean you can say anything for 100% about the adaptation.
This is the only reason this movie will turn any profit.
I just wish for once the fans of the actual comic book franchise would be put first.
I just wish for once the fans of the actual comic book franchise would be put first.
I think there are a grand total of about 3 Green Lantern fans in North America. It's really not the most popular series.
I just wish for once the fans of the actual comic book franchise would be put first.
What about Nolan's Batman?
New 'Green Lantern' Trailer To Premiere In Front Of 'Thor'
Earlier today, you read some words from "Green Lantern" star Mark Strong about the difficulty of taking part in the production of such an effects-heavy film. Only one "Green Lantern" trailer has been released so far, and while there are some standout moments, a fair number of fans criticized the apparently unfinished look of some of the visual effects on display. According to Warner Bros boss Jeff Robinov, the effects team's huge workload is actually a big part of the reason why we haven't seen much in the way of promotional video content from the film yet. "We are on a learning curve in getting 3-D materials and marketing materials on the same schedule," he told the Los Angeles Times. Warner Bros. worldwide marketing president Sue Kroll actually goes as far as owning up to the initial trailer and the sour impression it left some people with: "Part of the reason the response to the first trailer was lukewarm was that the big-scale sequences weren't ready to show, and we suffered for it. We can't do that again." Fortunately for fans who have been left wanting, more is promised to be coming soon. WB is showcasing new footage from the movie this week at CinemaCon in Las Vegas and over the weekend at WonderCon in San Francisco. Those who don't attend the conventions will have to wait just a little bit longer, as the second "Green Lantern" trailer will premiere in front of "Thor," which hits North America theaters on May 6.
http://splashpage.mtv.com/2011/03/29/green-lantern-trailer-thor/ They don't seem to be promoting much.

all of those hating on ryan reynolds go watch his better movies instead of his rom coms. buried, adventureland, smokin aces.
all of those hating on ryan reynolds go watch his better movies instead of his rom coms. buried, adventureland, smokin aces.
smokin aces was terrible, the only redeeming feature was that it had ray liotta in it so if I closed my eyes I could pretend I was playing vice city
New trailer that'll be show along with Thor includes a lot of special effects, action and glimpses of the homeplanet Oa. A scene where Hal manifests .50 caliber guns is also included. [editline]2nd April 2011[/editline]
new footage from wondercon is out....here http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/wb/greenlantern/ looks alright but some of the effects still look questionable and i really don't like how Parallax looks.......he needs to be more yellow like the comics judging from the storyline i have to say i would have preffered if they had followed more of Johns's redo of Hal's origins
Oh look they've pulled a "fantastic four: rise of the silver surfer" and taken what should be a huge awesome looking villain and just turned him into an evil cloud of smoke. Parrallex is smoke now. That's so lame.
Alot of companies use the cloud of smoke routine to cut costs of CGI its a known industry trick and im sick of it, if they want people to fill the cinemas to watch they're movies they need to start putting that extra money/effort into it.
