Origin stories simply suck in movie form. They're not even that great in comics but in comics you have a run that lasts a long time, while a movie only has ~ 2 hours. Also call me lame but IMO Green Lantern and Superman are pretty weak franchises. Superman is memorable because he basically is an American icon to some degree, but both characters are hard to identify with because they simply don't feel remotely human, have very little in the way of problems, and their weaknesse (the color yellow ("fear")/a part of his planet that everyone seems to have) are silly and non-nonsensical. They both have weak underlying themes, Green Lantern really never does get smarter than "overcome fear to be a hero omg" and Superman never really gets smarter than dealing with power and being human. I really love Batman though, probably the best thing DC has ever done. Batman, Spider-man, X-Men are all great because they bring forth somewhat real characters that face real problems and in some cases death or bodily harm is even a serious worry for them, and in the case of Batman/Spider-man their weaknesses aren't silly, and in the case of X-Men it touches on some interesting (for a comic book) discussion points about racism, segregation, experimentation, evolution, etc. GL was OK but the origin story part of it was weak and the ending battle with Parallax was also weak. Hammond stole the show because everyone else was also weak or mediocre, and that's not a good thing.
Christopher Nolan should write and direct every superhero movie from here on out.
i dunno i thought x-men: first class was pretty great
Maybe the next Green Lantern, Sinestro got fired and imprisoned then escape and sought revenge by using the yellow ring. Hal Jordan could not defeat Sinestro alone and decided to hire two new recruits, Guy Gardner and John Stewart to help him. Nah, who am I kidding, there won't be any sequel cause this first movie suck.
You know that scene where the helicoper is falling and he creates wheels for it and drives it around a track to plant it safely on the ground? That whole scene was created just so they could make the Hot Wheels set for it. Because of this I am never going to see this movie.
Thank God I saw this for free (in 3D). The 3D was good but it didn't save the movie.
