Have them play ARMA. You can get Cold War Assault for 7 dollars.
You could also try Planetside 2 or World of Tanks.
But then again all three of those games have steep learning curves, what about a strategy game like Command and Conquer? You can get Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert 1 for free. You could have your dad play Battlefield 1942 and see what he thinks of it compared to Battlefield 3 since that's free on origin now.
It would be an interesting twist to have them play something co-op like L4D together but not possible without two computers, two copies etc
He does have two computers, if you take a look, he has a video of them playing Portal 2 together
dead space sucks
Its a good game, its just not a good horror game
I mean its just an action game with jump scares, not a bad game though
Your dad would probably love Prototype 1 and 2, picking people up and throwing them across a city, running up a building then jumping off and landing on a civilian only to surf their dead corpse down the street
Using a bladed tentacle to swipe an entire street cutting 30 people in half from the waist is great family fun
I think you should really get them into a more cheerful game next time. It's all really cool but it would be kinda nice to see your mom less stressed.
You should go for other genres and stuff. Also, it'd be nice if when they play long games people are familiar with, you had a couple saves at some interesting points of the game (example here would be the City 17 into, Ravenholm, the dune buggy section, and maybe the Citadel) instead of them just doing one area. The bit where your mom went "can I stop now" was just begging for a change to a whole different level...
For game suggestions I'd say a GTA game, because there your mom has the chance to not do anything bad and drive according to the law and stuff while your dad punches everything to death, and Garry's Mod vanilla. Drop them into a new singleplayer GM_Construct game, give them basic directions, and just record what happens.
Then link it to Garry, he twitters, and BAM! VIEWS!
Also GTA, yes, that has surprise for everyone!
[editline]17th December 2012[/editline]
All I feel like it could use more directing from you(as in preparations for savegames and so on) and less interfering when they are actually playing.
Yes there is already a Postal 2, scratch that suggestion. Watching that now
I think it's your mum's turn to have a game she can have fun with otherwise you'll scare her off games completely
I think it's your mum's turn to have a game she can have fun with otherwise you'll scare her off games completely
Scribblenauts perhaps?
Make them play GTA
I think it's your mum's turn to have a game she can have fun with otherwise you'll scare her off games completely
Garry's Mod
Maybe another shot at Minecraft but this time with some sort of starting point so they can actually do something
Make them play GTA
I remember when my mom played GTA for the first time. I told her you could steal cars and kill people, so the first thing she did was stand in a busy street blocking the street waiting for a car. A car showed up and when I told her she could just press Triangle to open it (PS2, san andreas) she completely ignored me and tried smashing the doors open for like 5 minutes, and THEN entering the car.
Badass.
Awesome as always! I've been watching all of your vids! Really entertaining to watch your parents play video games! Keep it up!
Have your parents play Scribblenauts. Or the rest of the series is going to be 'My Dad Plays'.
Scribblenauts, GTA, or Red Faction Guerilla.
World of Goo, Braid. Try those.
Cry of fear
Make them play amnesia
You should try getting them to play Conkers Bad Fur Day. Your Mum might get tricked by the cartoony graphics and I'm sure your Dad will appreciate the crudeness.
I had them play Portal 2 coop, I don't have two copies of L4D, though.
For the L4D coop, if you just log into your account either in online mode, then do the same on the other computer but just in offline mode, you can play coop like that. Just load L4D like normal, get one of the computers to host a listen server, and get the other computer to join via console & IP. Used to do it with a friend of mine, worked like normal.
I love the contrast between your mom and dad but I feel it would be more enjoyable if you taught her to navigate better.
I second Scribblenauts to encourage basic creativity rather than forcing a confinement to linearity.
Your mother would probably love it anyway.

Just got a Wii U + Scribblenauts. Don't have a capture card though, and I'm not planning on filming my TV. Any recommendations? I'd like it to have HDMI capture, as well as RCA 'abilities,'
because I'd like to do old console games, too. Maybe Conker's.
I wish my parents were this cool, if I made my mom play half-life 2 we would just get frustrated at each other like always.
Lol, my mom wouldn't even come close to considering it. If anything, she'd stop right when the game starts, it not being a point-and-click card game.
I think your mom would prefer a lower mouse sensitivity.
Oh women and their sensitive mice.
Your dad is awesome.
Make them play amnesia
"MAKE THEM"
"Hey dude."
I hope your dad decides to carry on with these and all goes well, he's giving us all so many laughs.
If you're going to make them play Gmod, go for TTT

You can get Scribblenauts Unlimited for PC.
You can get Scribblenauts Unlimited for PC.
Yeah, I know. But I'd rather not buy it again. And I'd like to get a capture card for other games/consoles, too.
