I had sleep paralysis once. My body locked and I was unable to move, I started drooling and making choking sounds and my eyes were blinking uncontrollably for a minute or so. It was an experience, I can tell you that much.
I don't know if this is related I should probably look it up, but sometimes I have dreams where something happens (once I spent lots of money, lucid, once something to do with planets, also lucid) and I woke up and I was bricking myself and I had a deap feeling of oh shit oh shit oh shit. Dunno.
I find the easiest way to stir myself from SP is to just try and go back to sleep. I either go back to sleep, problem solved or wake up properly.
Well. Reading about people having scary shit encounters scares you. But you don't get to hear about the people having a good time? Simply, think of something joyful. And if there's something scary 'approaching', don't be all like "OH GOD ITS HAPPENING FOR REAL I'M GONNA DIE" Simply change your mind into "What is happening? Let's have a closer look." Your mood affects your dream. I'f you're scared, YOU WILL BE scared during the WSP, aka Waking Sleep Paralysis. However, If you're feeling rather fine and horny, you might just be doing that hot girl in your class right in front of your eyes.
The interesting thing about this is that even the smallest of discrepancies can be utterly horrifying - just like in many dreams. Once, I was experiencing this and thought I saw my keyboard on the floor. For no apparent reason, this frightened the living daylights out of me - and when I woke up properly, I was like "What? Did I really just piss myself over a keyboard?". Your brain tends to skip the section marked "Logic".
I want to do this but risking death? I ain't sure now.
It's just your body falling asleep, it isn't dangerous.
I have had this happen once, was extremely scary. I had a dream that i was lying in bed at night and someone came in to try to kill me, but at the same time i knew i was dreaming. Tried to scream and then woke up [but wasn't sure if i was actually awake] and noticed i had tried to scream in real life, and then i couldn't move at all.
Can this happen randomly or does this require full co-operation from yourself to make this happen?
I didn't experience anything particularly unpleasant when it happened to me. I just kinda woke up and tried to get up. But my body wasn't quite responding. And then I was like "wtf is this shit!? did reality lag out or what" :P I did read a story about one guy who woke up paralyzed... face first into his pillow, unable to breathe. Now that must've been shitty.
I tried this once when my friend told me about it. I literally thought I was being abducted by aliens. I finally did what it says above and held my breath and then I actually passed out not realizinig I was still holding my breath awake. Do pregnant women get this alot? Seeing as they sleep alot on their backs.
SP happens every night, while you're dreaming. Hypnogagia happens when SP takes effect while you are awake.
If the body should have problems with breathing, it should automatically wake you up.
Had this once. Scary as fuck
So what you lay on your back, and close your eyes and don't move?
Shouldn't this happen all the time to people who are paralyzed from the neck down? I have to try this once, to see if it's bullshit. edit: actually sounds a lot like self hypnosis
I've been doing this for awhile now actually, I've always really liked the feeling, however the feeling does vary, sometimes like you're buried in sand so heavy and losing the will to move and other times I've felt a sense of lightness and a sensation like I'm spinning around or felt like my arms were being lifted into the air without moving them at all. While you do it, try and imagine yourself spinning around and falling, try and imagine what it feels like. I've been able to do that, feel like I'm spinning down falling just by thinking about it (Not exactly the same, just a similar sensation.) However I haven't really experienced any full on hallucinations, I pretty much always keep my eyes closed. I have however seen images in my mind that were very vivid, more vivid then anything I have imagined before so.
ima try this tonight
R.I.P. to all the people on the first page.
Happened to me just this morning. Everything was slo-mo and shit
I sometimes have sleep paralysis, it's brilliant for getting into a lucid dream easily. It was scary as fuck for the first few times but once you learn to use it to get into a lucid dream you want it to happen.
Do you shut your eyes?
The transition stage just before a lucid dream usually feels like falling/spinning and I often hear a loud whizzing sound before the dream "stabilizes". [editline]04:53PM[/editline]
Do you shut your eyes?
yes, and relax relaxation is really important, instead of struggling to move you should relax and just go with the flow
I can get into Lucid Dreams easy enough, it's maintaining control without forcing it. I usually have some kind of plot device that I use to trick myself into staying longer. Like lucid cola. Or a magic sword or something.
Has anyone had a wet dream whilst doing this?:smug:
i wanna have sex in my dream
Also don't get too excited or you'll wake up Best way to get into a lucid dream from sleep paralysis: 1) relax 2) go with the flow 3) don't get excited/scared or you wake up When you get in a lucid dream it's usually really fuzzy or dark, atleast for me, so try looking at your hands to get more detail, and try speaking. Helps make it clearer. It sounds strange when said like that but if you ever have a lucid dream, you'll understand how it feels like. It's incredibly annoying when you think "fuck yes lucid dream" and get all pumped up and then feel the dream fade away from overexcitement and then wake up.
Holy shit gotta try this!

In the most sublime state of mind i think i slipped into this once, lying on my back listening to the beatles, mushies in gut. Can't remember when i drifted off but i could barely notice my breathing (which was the only worrying part) or move my body at all, everything slowly turned to a dream (Lucid? i still remember it vaguely) and then i woke up the next day feeling good.
