Gonna try this now, but I will probably fall asleep before it happening
I used to have this all the time as a kid. Never knew what it was until a few months ago. But yeah, it scared the living fuck out of me. Now that I know I can induce a lucid dream from it, I'm not so afraid of it.
Would be funny if there is some monster sitting on you and you just stare at it like the face in my avatar.
I thought it could only happen in the morning but.. going to try this :D
I've tried this by accident. I was trying to scream in terror.

If I woke up beside your avatar I would burst out laughing.
Shiit i think i've experienced this! I was dreamin' and laying on some weird bed somewhere, and shit got scary. It was like Breen(not that he is that scary) was experimenting on me and had chained me to the bed, and when i dream scary i usually just close my eyes and wake up. It didn't work and i was stuck there and couldn't move:(
Just tried this but it didn't work. I only tried for 15 minutes though. My eyelids were heavy as fuck, and there was this extremely loud buzzing. Then my nose began itching like hell and I had to give up.

Aww, you shouldn't have scratched your nose. That loud buzzing noise means you are about to lucid dream.
Going to try it out now. If I can do it, great, if I can't fuck it I'm going to sleep I have school tomorrow morning.
I have sleep paralysis once every two days or so, pretty much since I can remember. I stopped caring nowadays, but sometimes I must keep moving in my bed so I don't get it every five seconds or so.
I'm scared of having a heart-attack though :frown:
This probably explains why I keep having dreams while awake

annoying as fuck
This happened to me so many times while I was on the 2-day drive to Virginia. I always snapped myself out of it by trying my hardest to flail around until something happened.
-snip this isn't the lucid dream thread-
I'm going to try this tonight. Would it be recommended to just stay with Hypnogagia a couple times or should I jump straight into it and aim for a lucid dream?
When you try to do this do your eyes have to be closed or open? I would find it easier to keep my eyes closed.
I'm making a lucid dreaming/sleep/paralysis/hypnagogia megathread, it'll be up shortly. (Saying this here for those of you that aren't reading the lucid dreaming thread.)
I had this a couple months back. A guy in a suit was driving up to my house... In a shoe. It was weird cause in my dream the angles of view changed and it was very clear. I was fucking freaking out as the guy in a suit who drove a shoe walked up the stairs of my house to kill me. He shot me and I felt this burning sensation and that's when I woke up.
I'm going to try this again tonight.
I advise you not to try to get sleep paralysis, I get it from time to time and it's one of the most horrible sensations ever.
This one time I was sorta dozing off, Then out of nowhere it felt like I was spinning and I had a small pain in my side, But as soon as I woke up it was gone. Did that mean I was about to have a lucid dream or something?
I like when people post stories with no punctuation or capitalization as if they just woke up and ran to the computer
I think I believe they did
I once did this, and I think I missed the "trip" part because all I felt was numbness.
Tried list last night, all that happened was my arms got really heavy and difficult to move.
Same as nightlord, tried it last night and I felt my body getting a bit warmer and heavier. Heard a buzz but my anti-insect instincts reacted so I blew it.
I'm unable to sleep unless I'm on my side, so I don't have to worry about this!
sleep paralysis is just gods method of telling you to confess your sins and make up for all the bad you have done by paralyzing you in your sleep and sending demons to sit on your stomach
I felt a bit heavy last night and could occasionally feel my entire body tingling (is that the right word?) and sometimes I could feel arms or legs pulsating. But I didn't get into it completely since it was pretty noise in the house. (My brother below me couldn't get to sleep obviously -- I really need to move out of the house one time)
Only tried it for an hour or so when I was attempting to sleep. I was close, but I couldn't really sleep considering it was 5AM, my room was half-bright from the light outside and I had to be somewhere within 4 hours.
When I need to go to sleep properly later on tonight I will certainly attempt this again. And hopefully get some actual sleep.
I'm going to try this tonight. I've had sleep paralysis before so hopefully I can get a repeat performance. (And this time I'll be ready for it)
