Did you guys have a 'Exploding Head Syndrome'? I had it a couple of times, and it's far more scary then your average sleep paralysis. http://www.sleepassociation.org/index.php?p=explodingheadsyndrome
I had 'exploding head syndrome' thing once when I crashed on the couch. That shit was fucking annoying. Sitting there one moment, then all of a sudden, this extremely loud noise, like an explosion or a pop or a nuclear bomb... or rather what your brain would detect as that went off in my head and fucking startled me like a bomb went off. I knew what it was immediately cause I read about this shit, but it still scared the hell out of me. Haven't tried this lucid dream/sleep paralysis thing yet but I'll give it a shot sometime. And in case anyone is wondering, the human sleep cycle is an hour and a half, and sleep itself is in increments of this, with 15-30 minutes used for dreams between cycles. Use this to your advantage. You'll get far more energy out of a hour and a half or three hour nap rather than a two hour one. It's easier to wake up too. I've tested this myself, try it.
Just fucking got out of sleep paralaysis or however its spelled (on my ipod, bear with me) As i was trying to fall asleep, i listened to some soft piano music like i do most nights, and to my mistake, i didnt move at all. Started getting numb and then i couldnt move. Suddenly, i hear my bedroom door shut, and i see a all black man seemingly wearing a suit (slenderman hurr) and walks over to my bed. He sat down and 'stared' at me for what seemed like 5 minutes. Suddenly his face area gets bigger and a loud scream jumps out. I then woke myself up, and posted my terrified ramblings to twitter. That was terrifying.

http://www.sleepassociation.org/inde...ngheadsyndrome
Yes. I used to have it fairly often; not so much any more though. Mine didn't sound like a pop or a bomb though, more like a really loud, sharp and short buzz. Like a sharp acid synth; if you've ever heard one :V
i remember having sleep paralysis when i was in 3rd grade, i heard the weirdest and scariest sounds ever, it sounded like a freight train passing right above me. scared shitless
I tried it last night and I could feel the paralysis setting in. It felt cold and as if I didn't have any limbs at all. I then heard buzzing noises like a buzz-saw and suddenly I could not breathe. It scared the shit out of me and I immediately snapped out of my stupor. I must try this again tonight.
You were really close to a lucid dream. If you would just have not been scared and gone with the flow, relaxing even more, you'd have gotten a WILD.
How can I tell when it is about to happen. And if It is about to happen, to stop it from happening, I just hold my breath for about 5-10 seconds? I want to see how it is. Just like the others, I want to do this, but I am scared :saddowns:
Going to try this again, yesterday at about 9 pm tried it also, fell asleep :D I did hear some buzzing and shit, although I snapped out of it, tried again and again, in the I fell asleep. Woke up with my clothes on in the morning, felt like shit.
Tried it and fell asleep...
As weird as it sounds, I think this would be pretty cool. Aside from the insanity and night terrors. But if it was a cool hallucination...
I have bad experiences with Sleep Paralysis. I had it when I was face down, I couldn't move, I couldn't breath, I couldn't scream, I felt like I was going to die.
Once when I was a kid, I woke up and the whole room was filled with red smoke and there were these ghost-like things floating around me, and I yelled out for my mom but in the dream I thought that my voice was muffled, while my mom had actually heard everything I said and she was scared shitless and thought I was having a seizure or a panic attack or something.
Have you guys ever "died" in your dreams? I keep having a re occuring dream where I'm stuck in this house and I'm running around and this monster type thing keeps chasing me. Everytime it's about to take a chunk out of me I wake up... *Edit: Tried this voluntarily other day. I couldnt move arms and legs and kinda got scared so I held my breath and "woke" up. Also, did you guys feel like your whole conciousness was inside your head? I felt like my arms and legs were a part of someone elses body, like it was almost an out of body expierience.

I recently had a dream where i was with my family in a car, and their was a bunch of ultra modern mafia bank robbers running around with machine pistols. I was sitting in the front, and made eye contact with one of the gangsters, and therefore, much like all the other people they'd met previously, shot me. I fell out the car door after being shot twice through the window, then he aimed over the car and shot me another 2 times whilst i was on the floor. It was kind of scary, considering i could almost feel everything. The most interesting part is that i survived, and that with much difficulty i managed to crawl to safety. It was odd, i didn't feel the pain but i did feel the weakness that comes with pain. Coming to think of it, i've died quite often lately in dreams. Like last week i was a turtle Vs a guy with a spear. That was unpleasant.
did this last night. it felt like my feet were falling. and that sensation was slowly moving up. everything felt heavy. my finger twitched and lost it all
to try or not to try this... hmm...
This makes me want to start lding again
Just tried this, but my computer monitor(which was lighting most of the room) cut off, and I thought I was entering paralysis, freaked out, and just got up. Basically, the room just got darker, and I freaked out. Some questions: If I want to enter sleep paralysis, I leave my eyes open, right? Also, does it matter if the lights are on or off? And, is it okay to swallow so your throat doesn't get dry, when trying to do this?
Sounds unpleasant to me.
I really want to try this but I'm also really fucking scared of the outcome.
Do what you would normally do when sleeping, aka lights off, eye closed, shallowing only when necessary.
Alright, thanks.
I'm upset. It was uneventful for me last night. I tried it, and after about an hour all that happened were my limbs were numb. Then I fell asleep. I'm going to try again tonight.
What the fuck, why was the dream thread closed? Garry, that was NOT a crap thread! The OP was handwritten and amazing! Easily the most informative and well written thread in GD!
Do I need to close my eyes? I tried this, with eyes closed, I couldn't feel my hands, that was it. So I need to have my eyes open or what?
Do I need to close my eyes? I tried this, with eyes closed, I couldn't feel my hands, that was it. So I need to have my eyes open or what?
You're trying to get to sleep, so ofcourse you got to keep your eyes closed. Unless you sleep with your eyes open, that is.
You're trying to get to sleep, so ofcourse you got to keep your eyes closed. Unless you sleep with your eyes open, that is.
Real men sleep with their eyes open. :smug:
Going to try this shit out again, hopefully I won't fall asleep again.
I tried this last night but I ended up falling asleep and having a strange dream that I was in a strange Minecraft-like block world and I had to wake up Gabe Newell, who was laying naked in his bed, to change the world. I don't know why I had this dream. And yes, I distinctly remember Gabe's fat, naked body. I think at one point I even got into the bed with him.
Real men sleep with their eyes open. :smug:
Have fun drying your eyes, which cause blindness.
