Whether it benefits me or not, I'm hopeless at doing it. I'm probably the laziest worker at home that I know.
Ha ha, your second sentence reminds me of the time I spent all night doing calculus work (the whole chapter was due on test day), only I actually watched TV all night with calculus papers and books all around me.
Eh if the homework is work marks I do it. If it's for effort I just write some sloppy random shit down for completion. Only time anything is taken seriously is reviewing for a test, that's all.
I did a 6 page research paper on the benefits and harmful effects of homework as a side project. I concluded in the paper that homework is not only worthless but harmful because it associates the subject with the act of doing something that a student rather not do. This eventually leads to a frustration with the subject, eventually a full-blown hatred of it. I further concluded that time is an issue because of the sheer lack of time in a day. Teachers don't consider other classes when assigning homework, nor do they consider work and free time. This leads to an unhealthy balance in time skills, causes students to work late into the night (i.e. some of my friends who insist of doing homework until 2am because they have so much on it). This creates a sleep imbalance, which is very unhealthy for many reasons. I then stated that it is unhealthy to load a student with homework because it creates undo stress and anxiety that can lead to later complications in life, such as the feeling of helplessness when unable to complete all assigned tasks. Besides the stress and ultimate dislike for the subject, I showed that there is no statistical evidence that links the completion of homework and high test scores. In other words, students who did not do their homework were just as likely to score high on tests as students who did do their homework, and students who did do homework were shown to sometimes perform poorly on tests. I used to to get out of homework for all my classes for about a week before my teachers were like, "you know what, fuck that research. You are doing the homework." I now realize that the paper is wrong and that homework, within set limits is not only good for solidifying the material learned in the classroom, it is healthy for teenage development because it teaches time management skills, and it also teaches that real life is also a lot of hard work. Without homework, children will never learn proper time management skills and how to juggle multiple tasks, which is a very important skill in adult-hood.

regular homework is just an extension of the lesson for the teacher who couldn't be asked to fit it in. essays however are important.
I did homework for other classes, but I never did my math homework because it sucked ass and I hated it.
"you know what, fuck that research. You are doing the homework."
Your school sounds awesome.

I've never done homework, I just study for tests and that's it, and I always get A's or sometimes B's.
I don't do my math homework. I pay attention for two minutes of the class and get the highest score on every test. Homework is a complete waste of time.
I did homework for other classes, but I never did my math homework because it sucked ass and I hated it.
I do exactly the opposite, as math is the only subject you really can't learn by just reading.

And most teachers do consider free time and other classes. My teachers always gave ample time to complete assignments they knew would take long and figured that kids would be responsible enough to get them done in a timely manner. Sounds like your school had some problems, or maybe it's just the system itself.
I hate homework, but we have to do it so tough shit.
In the spedecial classes we didn't get homework. :downs:
Waste of time because when you know it they bitch about it.
I only do coursework and the rare pieces of homework which are actually set to help us understand the topic and not just for the sake of setting something. I flat out refused to do a piece of homework we were set which told us to draw a comic about atom molecules attending a prom or some stupid shit though and threw it away. It wasn't even related to the topic we were on and it didn't even teach us anything. I got removed from the lesson when I hadn't even made a scene and my awesome electronics teacher said "Oh I'll handle this, don't worry I'll fill in all the required forms." when he saw me getting spoken to outside and just happened to be passing by. I then spent the rest of the lesson chilling in his classroom, talking to him and drinking coffee. Was a good day.
I don't do my math homework. I pay attention for two minutes of the class and get the highest score on every test. Homework is a complete waste of time.
I do the same. I start listening to the teacher, then notice something that reminds me of something that happened recently, and i completely black out, then 15 minutes later the teacher sets us some work, and i'm like "What? What the fuck are we doing!?"
i definitely did not just watch episodes of peep show back to back the night before i had a chemoinformatics project on protein folding due in
Peep show was awesome, too bad i haven't found the dvd's anywhere.
was the research paper homework
I did it as a side project because I like writing.
I never do homework, projects, coursework, etc., at home. When I'm at home, it's my personal fucking time. I spend so many fucking house being lectured by a dick faced teacher who doesn't actually 'teach' us anything we don't know, or anything that is important for our future. I'll usually finish homework in other classes to pass time while the teacher tells us about how we are only a few months from graduating and that we are going out into the real world, can't they tell us something new? I know I'm graduating, they don't need to tell us that every day.
Schoolwork in schools, please! I hate compulsory homework. Of course if you're behind you have to do stuff at home or if you've been absent, but I don't want to do homework when the teacher could have let us done it on the lessons and plan a bit better.
Homework is okay in moderation. I can handle doing practice questions based on the lesson, but sometimes we just get pages out of a textbook to do and all of the damn question are similar but different enough to warrant being a new question. (for example, 2x5, 2x-6, 5x-20, etc) At one point you understand the lesson and you just don't want to do the repetitive and tedious daily work.
Also, what is the point of doing homework on a subject you're working on a few consecutive days? If it is for revsion, theres no need since you'll be going over the same thing the net day, in class with help and friends.
hey guys im 13 in 8th grade and hamwork SUX i hate shcool~! instead i smoke weed every tday :350: :350:
In my opinion, homework doesn't do anything. I do it, yet I still get poor grades on tests and quizzes. I really don't care anymore. It's stupid. Do it like my health teacher does it: lecture, writing notes on chalkboard, write notes in notebook. I learn better that way. I sometimes don't feel like I'm learning jack shit unless we are explained it or given a demonstration (this is why I like my Chemistry class more than Geometry; we're given a demo on the topic at hand). Most of my teachers just go, "Oh, here's a textbook. Do these problems." or "Here's a worksheet on notes for the unit in the textbook." Are you shitting me? That's not teaching. I want to be a high school history teacher and get a Bachelor's or Master's degree in that. Just a lecture, notes, and there. I learn more & learn better. It's odd that the classes that give us 35% of our grade for homework don't give us any, if not a small amount, but it's the other way around if a class has homework for 15% of our grade but gives us a bunch of it. I don't even get much, but if it were up to us ot do homework or not and still pass, then I would choose not to. It'd ridiculous and time-consuming. I want to come home to relax, not do more work. Fuck the Board of Education, mine is run by a retarded asshole. [editline]05:23PM[/editline] And by the way, in college you take notes while being lectured, and high school prepares you for college, right? Just a little tidbit there that makes sense on how classwork and homework should be done. Seeing as homework accounts for... I dunno. 60-70% of our grades then yeah. I do them. But it's usually the day before it's got to be done because I jsut can't do it at home under normal circumstances. In middle school I did all the homework at school so I was never behind with it and always got it done. Now that I am in media class with computer access 24/7 it's a lot harder to do it, plus we hardly have any time to do it at school. And those times we do... Eh, it's effort and bothersome. But I usually get it all done in time, but many times it's just barely. Also homework is a great thing, the problem is just that it usually is just too much of it.

What school district you in? I want to beat up all of those district people or whatever they are. It's not a great thing, and there is too much of it (homework I mean).
Yes, it's boring as hell, and time consuming, but do you think people actually benefit from homework? Has anyone on facepunch actually refused to do homework? Do/did your parents back you up on hating homework?
I hate it... it makes me piss out my ass.

You will learn to need it, when you find that you don't find everything as easy anymore.
