Also, if you guys don't recommend the L96 then I may as well get an AEG of some sort.
I'd definitely say get an AEG over a bolt-action sniper rifle. You'll be a much bigger asset to the team if your gun is capable of shooting in full auto. Plus, it'd be expensive to upgrade a spring rifle to even out-range and out-weigh the benefits of an aeg, as been said before.

Having one as a gift don't get it too many things I don't like about it, the bipod slot where it clicks it dismantled it self by just being there.
