All bosses are assholes. Get used to it unless you plan on taking over the company some day.
I'm not American. But right now, I wish I were.
American or not you still have workplace rights. Edit: Didn't realise your problem was resolved. Good on you!
I like the way Florida does it. You can be fired at any moment for any or no reason at all. Sounds cruel, but that's just the way it should be. As a business owner, I should be able to choose who and who doesn't work for me. And no, I'm not a business owner or extremely wealthy person. I'm a mere delivery boy in a low income family. Yeah, I'm not gonna weep and demand that the world owes me a job or success, that is all up to me.
That's why we have trade unions, the rights of the proletariat need to protected against the privileges of the bourgeois.
Average temp is 98. Yes, I consider 100 slightly sick.
God damn, it how could I miss this? Seriously, I read the thread five times and I missed this post five times. Learn your math. 38.9 degrees Celsius is 102.2 degrees Fahrenheit, not 100. Moron. Oh, by the way - I went to my new workplace today and it seems pretty good so far. The work conditions are better and I even have my own workspace which I don't have to share with a retarded co-worker. And my new boss who I met today is actually a 24 year old guy. He inherited the shop after his dad died. He's really cool and he understood my problem. He even said that if I'm a good employee he'll give me a raise in a month or two, so my salary will be pretty much the same as with my old workplace. This turned out much better than I thought.
Work through the fever you loser. Not to be offensive but both me and my girlfriend got pretty bad cases of the flu last month and be both went to work and in my case my boss sent me home because i was simply too sick. You should always go in and see if you can work. Not just call in lazy sick.
You're a fucking idiot. Why would you go into a workplace with something contagious where you interact with other people? People get sick from CONTACT with sick people. Quit being such a dick.
Umm what? 38.8 is nothing, unless you have 39.5 or above stop complaining
Ah. Where do I begin. Well, today I woke up with a really bad fever - 38.8 degrees. I don't have to tell you that this isn't good. I called my doctor and asked her what should I do (her shift in our local medical facility starts at 1 PM). She told me to stay home for a few days and told me to buy an antibiotic. (Augmentin, if I'm not mistaken) So, I went to the pharmacy that's near my house and bought the antibiotic and some Nurofen for the fever. Now, I work as a repairman in an electronics store and handling electronics and fragile equipment isn't easy with a fever. So, I called my boss, explained the situation and told him I won't be able to go to work for a few days. He just said: "Great, you're fired. I can't stand it when a worker of mine calls in sick. You should've come and said it in person". What. The. Fuck. He wanted me to drive 5 miles in rush hour with a fever just to tell him I'm sick? I kindly explained to him that I can't really drive with my head spinning around from the fever. He told me that I'm still fired and "I hope you start respecting my opinion". What? What do you think, FP? Am I wrong or is he? I personally think he fired me for a bullshit reason, but I might be wrong.
sue you have a legit case
If your work place has a Union then you could dispute his actions and get something resolved, I'm pretty sure he can't actually fire you without a legitimate reason.
Good on you, OP. I'm sick with a fever today but I still had to go to school to turn in some projects. I'm fairly sure I got everyone around me sick. :ohdear:
Umm what? 38.8 is nothing, unless you have 39.5 or above stop complaining
You get a 38.8 degree's celcius fever, i dare you, do it, see how it feels. Not so funny now, huh? [editline]10th November 2010[/editline] Glad that you have a new job, etc.
I believe that's illegal. Well....paybacks a bitch i guess.
by lawsuit he means ur cock
By lawsuit, he means your cock. http://www.edufind.com/english/grammar/
Give him your fever by spiting in his drink while he's not looking.
God, what the hell dude. I've seen illogical shit (I called my work 5 months back if I could get a day off for a party, they tell me I have to call 2 weeks before getting a day off. I did that last week, and now they tell me I should've called 3 weeks before, wtf) but this totally tops all. It's even worse that he told you you're hired again when you told him you were going to sue him. What an illogical prick. I hope your new boss isn't as fuck-ass as your old one was.
By lawsuit, he means your cock. http://www.edufind.com/english/grammar/
He was being ironic.
I haven't called in sick in 4 years. That way when I need a random day off I can have it and my boss is all like "he's so selfless :allears:" [editline]11th November 2010[/editline] Then again I never really get flu.
You had a 100 degrees farenhiet? All though I agree that's a prick move I'm siding with your boss. Just because your slightly sick doesn't mean you should take a few days off. I would of just went in, and drinked a ton of cold water, and took some vitamin d supplements (seriously. they make you feel amazing). No need to worry about a fever when you could of just went in, and got paid for working still.
Since I know more at Biology than I seriously need to, I say you're a dumbass because you will start feeling sick if your body temperature raises just by two degrees if your defense system is already at loss because of a cold or whatever. Cold water and vitamin d doesn't cut it at all. A fever can only be cured by resting and taking the necessary medicines.
