I think the best free way to talk is use the voice chat function in the steam group.
Mumble is free, provided someone hosts a server.
Also I've been added to the gay chat group an upteenth amount of times and I've never actually been able to get in.

Thanks :) I've only realised the true me after so long last week which may sound strange. Maybe that's how a lot gay people find out; they just suddenly realise what they're missing and not accepting in their life like I've done. Or perhaps I'm just a unique case! Anyhow, time couldn't move slower right now.

I really have to say. It's nothing compared to a long backpacking trip.
I used to be with the Scouts. I'm not anymore because too old and eagle, but going hiking for ~2 weeks was pretty hellish. As was carrying an 85 pound canoe a mile and a half.
But you probably weren't really used to it. Ascents are hell regardless.
