I think that if no one constantly complained and supervised over the people in this thread it would be a much better place

Clearly there's a lot of need for advice in this thread so I linked to the former, but generally speaking chat threads are like those language threads. They're filled with people discussing common interests - gaming, the weather, clothes etc. It's not so much the content as the tone.
I mean I don't want to come across as some bossy person who's like "Do this now!" because clearly there's a core of posters here who've got a community vibe going that supports them, but... well how do I say it, it's pretty infantile. Perhaps it's because I'm nearly 21 and the average age in this thread seems to be 15 but I feel like I'm posting in a thread full of children sometimes. In fact, I don't think it's an age thing at all, because I didn't post like this when I was 15 and when we had a subforum I was one of the older members but we still had a more mature level of posting.
If I'm going to blame anything, I'd say it's a mix of furries and crossdressing that are dragging this thread down. Nothing against either category, but crossdressers clearly like adopting more feminine roles and so are more likely to focus on femininity, appearing "cute" in their posts, mention women's clothing etc than women themselves and furries, well, being a furry seems to be a major topic of discussion whenever you're around furries. I personally find effete men a bit of a turn off in general and I think anthropomorphic animals are completely unarousing; it's not so much that but it's the ensuing posting behaviour. The roleplaying. The "playful innuendos" between two people who probably don't even have pubes yet. The cutesy posting style.
I hate to play this card, but this drives normal gay people away. I don't like using this argument, since gay people already aren't "normal" compared to your average forum poster, but it's not something your run of the mill gay guy wants to be involved in. It holds no appeal to them. You can argue "Well they shouldn't be so judgemental" or "If they can't handle that good riddance anyway" but we've lost pretty much everyone. Cmrna only posts here occasionally. Where's Scooby? Where's Tea? What about the stack of PMs from both old regulars and people I've never encountered before, saying things to the effect of "They're all so weird!" or "The thread's pointless, save your time and don't post in it".
When Garry closed our subforum, there was a struggle to maintain a community - we had one for a bit in Lifepunch but that imploded and we moved here. When it started up as a chat thread I remember thinking that it seemed the community had struggled on through. Now that I've come back to Facepunch, I personally think a mod could close this thread and it'd be no great loss. I imagine we're already getting on their tits with the ambient levels of drama, but this is just an embarrassing thread to have on the front page.
I don't really know why I persist in posting in this thread. Despite being snappy, I'm quite a patient individual and I guess I feel some sort of tie to Facepunch since I've been here so long. It's clear you guys sometimes need at least one person to talk sense back to all these relationship posts etc. But it's draining and tbh I don't actually enjoy posting here that much. There's some good posters in this thread, but they're buried under the dross.

Oh yeah, by the way, when we get locked in to a repetitive posting pattern along the lines of "Show us your desktop!" or "Take a picture of your x" or "Post some music!" nobody cares about your post. It's almost always an excuse for everyone to post their thing, and they're not massively interested in what you post. It's a known fact, like when people are at parties and want to play a song on YouTube (and everyone's waiting for it to be over so they can play *their* song) or when you're having a heated discussion and nobody cares about your point, because they want to make their own.
