i am doing pushups while listening to music
That is called multitasking my friend, multitasking.
I need to start exercising again, I always feel great about myself when I do.
I used to go jogging with my friend, he was training for his rugby team and i just needed to feel less unfit.
The first time I did it i felt terrible and pretty pathetic, I jogged 2km before i had to stop.
But then the next day i felt great, and the day after, so i started doing it every 2/3 days and I felt amazing all the time and I could jog the 5km track in the forest constantly.
Everyone exercise it is good ok.
[editline]24th July 2012[/editline]
I stopped cause i just shed all my weight and now i am comparable to a stick insect with big thighs.
I could do like 100 sit ups at a time, but barely manage 20 push ups.
I get in around 200 push ups, 30 pull ups, various other exercises if I cant go to a gym, so damn expensive.
I lost access to the high school gym after I moved over to uni so I started just doing a set of a few excercises daily. I put on like 5 or something kilos and had someone compliment me on how 'firm' I was. I wasn't really expecting all that much from that little, but I guess it stacks up.

All this drama is putting me off posting in this thread now.
And Rape_Man
All this talk about exercise is putting me off posting in this thread now.
Its okay i think you're fit
Why thank you.
Everyone is so wary of "drama", but personally I'd rather interact with people who are willing to have an argument with me rather than avoiding one. Expressing grievances is infinitely healthier than the alternative, and any relationship, whether romantic, platonic, or merely of acquaintances is going to be much more fruitful than one that doesn't.
the productivity of the argument is a function of the average maturity of the participants divided by the number of participants
Okay, the most I can do if four push ups. I hope by next month I can do 10 xD
When I saw Taxi Driver for the first time, the scene where travis starts to work out at home really left an impression. 100 push-ups? really? I was wondering if I could push myself to such insane numbers so I got myself some training equipment and not a year later I was able to do 100 push-ups myself and I still train regularly
I gotta leave for my first job ever soon :o
It's a food market down the road, $8.50 an hour to do like, stocking things. Fine with me :3
Well... I fell down a flight of stairs today because i was drunk (i may have a problem) and I broke my neck again in the same place I did two and a half months ago. After 4 hours with a neurosurgeon and several tests, I found I have no feeling in my fingers on my right hand. Wonderful. I am grateful that I'm not dead or paralyzed again, but I am such a fucking idiot.
Damn man, you really gotta stop the drinking. I know you probably won't really read this since this fucking thread moves at 100 posts an hour and I myself don't bother reading it, but before alchohol ruins you, you should just drop it. I have a feeling you won't be so lucky on your third chance.
Or at least only have it around light company or have it lightly.
I couldn't even get to 5
As I said: I think joining a gym would be good for me ;3
Jesus fuck pushups are hard
I started going to the gym a little under a month ago. Granted I wouldn't call myself a regular yet, because I still have break days, but I feel semi-bad if I miss more than one day without going, and bad if I miss two days without going, so I usually end up going at least twice a week, usually around 4-5 times a week.
Even if you don't really go to build muscle and you don't start off losing a lot of weight, it's great because it can really help you with your self confidence just being there and working at it. It's good to learn how to get a sweat going and not feel irrated/annoyed by it, and instead embracing it. Plus the act of working out, even if you aren't going hard core into it with set goals, does wonders with just making you feel more active in everyday life and making you feel more motivated.
If I don't build muscle I can't fight back against rape_man.
I sometimes wonder why I post in this thread, it's utter shit.
I used to think this, but then I realized why I still follow this thread... it's an ego-boost. No matter how sad and awkward I may be, there's always someone more sad and more awkward.

What a brilliant post, thank you. I've been feeling sad/down for a long time now and one of the reasons I wanted to join was to get my confidence up like you said! That really inspired me :) I'm looking forward to joining.

When you're new a good gym will have instructors that ask you what you want to work at and give you different activities you can do. There's also classes that specialize in different exercises through out the whole day at the Gym I'm interested in.
Sorry, just read that back and it made little sense. I can't explain it that well because I don't know much about it yet. I'm sure someone else can help you :P

Don't fight it. It's not rape if you enjoy it and that's Rape Man's kryptonite.

How... how did you ever... NOOOOO!
Wooh, looks like the thread has got back onto the topic of exercise again.
And some advice:
To start gaining strength it's really not about going to the gym, to get stronger you -need-, I wont express that enough, to build core strength first... or you wont be able to build up those arms/legs/abs/pecs (whatever) without struggling for the first few weeks or so, the best way of doing that is swimming... because swimming is just awesome and you build up muscular endurance while training with it, it is incredibly slow... but your cardiovascular fitness will just explode, I pretty much trained with it for a six week period and it did wonders for my core and fitness in general as well as skipping which is also pretty damn awesome for that core strength building as well as muscular endurance.
Or you could just lift your own weight without running the risk of stumping your growth.
More people need to get into exercising, I went from a shy... timid boy and got turned into a confident man capable of coaching families of people much older than myself, or find myself doing things I have never done before.
Like lead climbing this

(p.s that ain't me in the picture, the place is called 'Muckey gulley', it's a great area for people just getting into lead climbing)
And my highest climb so far, 420 feet.
