You don't. Deal with his rules, negotiate better rules, or move out.
There are no "stable" rules, I just do exactly as he says when he tells me to. The rule is what he says goes, or you get hit (He's an ex bodybuilder) It's what he says when he makes me work back-breaking 12 hour days without pay for his groundworking company, pulled off the computer for no better reason than he's grumpy after coming home from work or constantly doing really pathetic things. An example of something really pathetic is calling me downstairs to shut a bin lid he's standing next to, because someone left it up but he doesn't know who, or to shut a DOOR that's he's sitting on the couch next to. And then you get more serious stuff like he won't be bothered to get us food, so when he gets home, if my moped doesn't start up and I don't drive there in the rain we won't eat. On that day it wasn't starting and he said "Well, you better walk then", all the way to the middle of town which is about a mile and a half away, while it's pouring down. This was while he had both the car and van at his own service. I spent half an hour starting up the bike so I could get some food. I'm 16, if I moved out I wouldn't really have anywhere else to go, my grandmother wouldn't mind taking me but she's having enough trouble looking after my slobbish father anyway. As for police, my mother can't make enough money to run the house, he is a business owner after all and he knows he's the reason the household even exists. I know this because I got in serious trouble with my mother for telling the school he beat me the night before and I was traumatized, thus why I wasn't talking all the next day. So the day after that I had to come in and explain how it was all sorted out now with no difference at all. I'm already putting up with it and I'm going absolutely batshit insane. I'm ARGUING with myself imagining I'm arguing with them whenever I'm alone and when I do it when driving I drive like a madman with no regard for his own life. I am GOING INSANE Splurgy, do you have steam or skype, I really don't want to clog this thread up with this drama.
What the fuck is up with the people in this thread.
Why don't they just go to a normal game convention?
What a bunch of honest to god fucks.
Splurgy, do you have steam or skype, I really don't want to clog this thread up with this drama.
Nonsense, that's what this thread is for. Chatting and telling problems which some of us know how to deal with.

Are we going to kick people out if they don't like dick or something? I think it's cool but... Why?

When was homophobic language ever part of gaming culture? Those 12yr old's on XBox Live do not represent gaming culture. And having a gaming con is not going to fix this, they are fucking children.
"you cant quickscope youre gay!"

Am I the only one that doesn't really care about people using "gay" as they do in games. Or just generally if someone says "That's so gay." or calls someone a fag (usually this happens in games) without knowing anything about their sexual preference or whatever. I know that's not an actual insult to their sexuality, it's not like they're saying "You suck at this game, kill all fags." I don't know I'm just not bothered by it unless it's obviously intentional.
I'd actually appreciate a female-oriented gaming convention more, simply because there IS actually some (a lot of) negative stigma against women in gaming culture.

When did gay people become something other than a different sexuality? Just because I'm gay means I like different things from everyone else? gaymer is the stupidest word i've ever heard

[editline]10th August 2012[/editline] Just because I like a good dicking doesn't mean I automatically dislike Final Fantasy, guys.
(keep in mind that I use "gay" in the trendy sense of being a catch all for whhat is traditionally called LGBT) By being a queer person, you automatically are affected by several queer issues, whether you actively are interested in them or not. Treatment of gays and gay relationships, whether you accept or reject the current "queer culture" and how does that affect you, and marriage equality are a few examples. The disparaging thing is you'd be very, very hard pressed to find games that deal with queer issues in a meaningful manner, and even harder pressed to find a gaming convention that would be hosting panels or showcasing games that do the same. THAT'S the problem Gaymercon tries to remedy - it's trying to provide a safe place for people to get together and discuss said issues and cater to other interests of the LGBT community that current games and gaming cons either don't meet or don't meet well enough. A lot of people have been saying that this somehow distances gays and the like from their straight peers, but only in the same way that most straight people wouldn't be interested in attending gay bars or a gay film festival or something.
I found Korea's Party Rock Anthem equivalent ... [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] Without the shufflin'

They say he does this as a funny thing and not to be serious.

Since we're no different from other people, I guess that means we all like the opposite sex. Thanks for the insight! [editline]doh[/editline] the point of this post was to point out that what he was saying was that because a lot of us prefer males over females (note: a lot of us), our interests are a little different. i'm pretty sure a lot of gamers that go to conventions are expected to be single, straight, and male.

What you're describing is both physical and emotional abuse and you shouldn't have to put up with it.
Am I the only one that doesn't really care about people using "gay" as they do in games. When people use "faggot" as an insult, not so much my mates jokingly going "Oh you dopey faggot" or stock phrases like "Do it, faggot" but out and out "Look at this faggot! He can't even aim straight! What a fag, I'm going to headshot him with an AWP!" I get uneasy. Not offended or upset, just a bit uneasy. Anyway, the main reason I imagine people have organised a gaymers convention is a) to specifically address queer issues in the gaming world, which a general purpose gaming convention might not focus on b) to provide a safe space for anyone who feels (perhaps erroneously) that gaming culture is a bit homophobic c) to allow people to hit on each other. Seriously, at a gamer con you've got all your nerd guys and nerd chicks and they can use a shared interest in gaming as a way to break the ice, but gay nerds can't really do that... this gaymercon allows them to do so.
Why do we need our own convention? I'm honestly curious. Gays are no more special than any other person on this planet. Are we going to kick people out if they don't like dick or something? I think it's cool but... Why?
I linked this article in that thread. I guess basically the point is that the gaming industry is obviously catered towards the straight, white teenage-to-30-ish demographic, and it'd just be nice to have a convention targeted at a gay demographic. It's also not exclusive or anything; straight people would be quite welcome, it just wouldn't be targeted at them, the same way E3's booth babes probably aren't targeted at gay guys. So we don't "need" our own convention any more than straight people need conventions obviously aimed at them. It's just a cool way for like-minded people to congregate.
So, I can eat solid foods again without much difficulty. Had pizza to celebrate. I think shit's pretty much back to normal.
So, I can eat solid foods again without much difficulty. Had pizza to celebrate. I think shit's pretty much back to normal.
was your choice of words intentional or just a coincidence? :v:
