Massively overestimated my ability to understand Finnish; completely lost for half the lessons. Will probably leave and apply for a university/polytechnic/whatever that teaches in English, as the time for that application period is approaching.

Finland's in the EU so you'd get to go to any British uni for free as an international student (the Finnish Government pays off all the hefty International Student fees) which is better than what English students get (I'm now in debt because of my student loan).
You've missed the deadline for applying this September unless you get a place through clearing (but I don't think you'd get the funding at such short notice). Just make an account on UCAS and see what courses you're eligible for.
