Every MOBA game is full of dicks, it's kinda understandable, you don't want someone feeding for 60-80 minutes
If you ask me, it really shouldn't take over five hours for you to learn enough about a game to be able to just join a game and play.

Doesn't DOTA have almost nothing in the way of a tutorial? How are you supposed to learn how not to be a drag if the only way to learn is to be one?

Some people enjoy high skill cap/high learning curved games... that's why things like Dark souls, STALKER and SMB (to name a few) exist.. sometimes people want a challenge

The game is still in beta and a tutorial will be implemented. However you can only teach someone so much about the game. The game is played differently by everyone and the metagame changes depending on which country you play with. A comprehensive tutorial is impossible because no game is close to the same as another. That being said, you should learn the basics and play some bot matches until you're comfortable with a few characters and can fill any role. The bots provide a challenge for new players, so once you conquer them a few times, try a pub game. You'll get stomped a bunch, and make some people mad. Unfortunately, the community sucks sometimes. However, there are a few people willing to teach you in a pub and if you listen to them you may just do well. The worst thing you can do though is tell people what to do or be negative. Make suggestions, stay calm and positive. You'll win.
That being said, I'm one of the better Facepunch Dota players, and need some more gaymers to represent with me. Add me if you're interested in learning, or want to go a few rounds. We'll kick some ass. The community is not all bad, and it's a game that is so enjoyable once you understand the mechanics.
Any recent DOTA-clone is awful and responsible for sapping the will for video game developers to make new RTS games.
DOTA (and starcraft 2 as well) is pretty much responsible for killing the RTS genre.

I wish I could have a title as amazing as yours.
Oh and DOTA 2 is actually really good. Sure it has a steep learning curve but thats part of the game, it makes it more competetive and a lot more fun.
