You need to get the right gas concentration that there's enough oxygen to let it burn, but enough gas it actually does something. Even then, it's liable to just explode, which may still leave people alive. Even if it just sets you all on fire, it's a terribly painful way to go, takes a bit for your nerve endings to die. More likely the gas'll just leak out of every crevice it can before you get anything done, unless you purpose-build an airtight box big enough for everyone.
Nitrogen suffocation is a [I]potentially[/I] painless way to die.

and then if you survive life will be bad bcos youll have to go through all that pity shit that you probably dont want or need, could negatively physically affect your body (OD affecting your brain, jumping breaking your legs or whatever etc etc etc) and you'll just make life rly bad on the long term
