I can appreciate a girly coffee, but I prefer mine strong, black and no sugar 'cause I'm sweet enough ;) Terrible coffee is the stuff I bombard with sugar and milk.
Cocktails always get a bad rep as being girly but I don't see why. Some long drinks (e.g. Martinis) are manly as fuck and even something apparently girly like a screwdriver or a Woo Woo get you fucked way quicker than beer. Everyone I know who used to underage drink has a certain soft spot for spirits; I mean if you're going to underage drink are you going to deal with the hassle of beer or are you going to pool your money, buy a bottle of vodka and mixer and split that?
I never really got why beer was manly anyway. I like beer, I'm quite fond of real ales and stuff (Hobgoblin? London Pride? Yes please) but it takes ages to get buzzing from beer. Once you start downing gin + mixer, you get fucked and I can drink most "macho drinkers" under the table. Also spirits are lighter so you don't get as much of a beer belly and you don't have to deal with beeriods the next morning. If you can't hold your drink, your vomit doesn't smell as bad! If you use energy drinks as a mixer, you're on it for a night out vs. getting sleepy from loads of beer. For a tenner, I could get a few beers or I could get 70cl of Tesco Value gin - don't even get me started on drinking in bars in London, where a fucking pint of beer sometimes costs upwards of £6 but a pitcher holding multiple servings on strong cocktail can be got for about £10. The more I think about it, the more I wonder why people drink beer to get recreationally drunk.
I think beer tastes absolutely horrible, or any other form of alcohol really.
