The problem isn't the plot twists, it's what the plot twists are. At the moment it seems more like Moffat's son is writing Doctor Who. I've lost all suspension of disbelief and had it utterly collapse in on itself since River turned out be Amy's Daughter, best friend, a timelord, and also the weapon engineered to kill the Doctor. I just have this massive overall complaint with everything becoming too contrived and unbelievable. Yes it's a show about a time travelling alien who can regenerate, but fuck, this whole River Song plot has just gone way too far, and way too far fetched.
While I disagree and say that I still enjoy the series, the story is fantastic and your opinion is wrong, I do get the feeling that River Song feels a little too much like a character from a fan-fiction Moffat came up with when he was younger. Bit OTT sometimes, feels like the character was thought up first, and then the events were engineered to match the character specifically.
Bit hard to describe, but I guess it could be because he's written her backwards.

But she's been in the story backwards. God damnit, I'm so confused!
I hated both Angels and empty children.
Kids I speak to and even older people seem to be terrified of The Silents.
Oddly enough, I was fine with The Silence as well, so hopefully will be fine with this week's episode.

Seriously? An opinion cannot be wrong, you just agree or disagree with it.
Seriously? An opinion cannot be wrong, you just agree or disagree with it.
Isn't that like a... ummm... you know... a personal right or wrong?
Seriously? An opinion cannot be wrong, you just agree or disagree with it.
General Opinion disagrees with it, therefore it is wrong and must be punished!!!!!. Seriously, even though I disagree, you are entitled to your opinion. I'm not a bad person really
An opinion cannot be wrong, you just agree or disagree with it.
An opinion can be wrong if it's downright stupid.
In a lack of better examples, Hitler hated the jews, his opinion was that they should be killed. His opinion was wrong. Nothing to disagree or agree with, it was just wrong.
Same thing goes when your only argument for not liking a story is because it has too many plot twists. It's just wrong, because that's kind of what makes the story good. Advanced plot twists are even better, and Moffat is the master at it.

I'm not defending Hitler here, but not everyone thought it was wrong. If they did, how come so many people actually took the cause, if they all thought it was wrong, they could easily have overturned it.
However, in my opinion, Hitler's opinion changed from an opinion when it was put into practice. That is when it became wrong.
I'm expecting this weeks episode to be shite
A) It's Mark writing
B) No press has been singing praise for it like they do the really good ones. Such as the series openers, Doctors Wife and Blink.

Gatiss' best stuff is horror. This looks like more of an extension of that and could be really good
What I've learnt is if anything in the trailer looks good- it'll be shit.
Anything looks awful or strange. Like Blink. - It'll rock.

Mark Gatiss is an excellent writer. Go watch The League of Gentlemen.
Seriously? An opinion cannot be wrong, you just agree or disagree with it.
I've said peoples opinions are wrong twice in this thread (albeit the first time was a very long while ago), both times I only said them as a joke :v: stop being so serious.
Also, in my opinion, opinions can be wrong. So, is that opinion right or wrong?

An excellent writer. An awful to average Doctor Who writer.

I disagree with that opinion, but you may think otherwise...dammit, stop making paradoxes, just because this is a thread about timey-wimey stuff.

Also, thinking about that 'Silence will fall' thing. It must be to do with the Silence's extinction, otherwise wouldn't they have put it in the human's head to ask the question, ridding themselves of The Doctor.
I've come to realize people only find the episode "messy" and "hard to follow" if they're (in a lack of better wording) stupid.
You seem to fall in the category, not only because of the "messy" part, but generally because it seems you can't handle plot twists.
"if you don't like what I like you're dumb"
I might not agree with everything he said, but jesus christ the way people here react to someone with a differing opinion is just childish.
An excellent writer. An awful to average Doctor Who writer.
Gatiss' writing - what didn't you like about it? Remember that the writer himself still has to bend to the will of the head writer. The stories themselves were pretty average RTD fare - but under Moffat, he could be completely different. I loved "The Idiot's Lantern", and actually, despite the awful effects (which really spoilt it for me), even "The Lazarus Experiment" wasn't bad. They're all very human in their grounding and sentiment and that looks like it will stay for "Night Terrors".
Under Moffat in Sherlock he was brilliant. I quite expect this one to turn out the same.

don't set out to hate it until you've seen it! With Doctor Who, the best way to enjoy it is just to hold on for the ride :v:
I'm still in disbelief that people didn't like Let's Kill Hitler! It's probably my favourite episode of all time.
[editline]30th August 2011[/editline]
Apart from Human Nature/Family of Blood
For some reason, thinking back to Let's Kill Hitler it doesn't seem like the episode was how long it actually was.

I still have Family of Blood on my tivo for whenever I want to see that one scene where the doctor goes, "Oh, and another piece of advice: RUN"

Now that the casting team and writers have more regenerations to play around with, do you think a non-white or a lady Doctor is more of a possiblity? Maybe a ginger Doctor, but they may save that for last.
Non-white is fine, but the Doctor should stay male IMO.

When did that stop being speculation?

if you're talking about the more regenerations bit, watch Let's Kill Hitler
if you're talking about the more regenerations bit, watch Let's Kill Hitler
Yeah, River used all her regenerations to revive the Doctor, but who confirmed that he has access to all of them, rather than using all that power to bring him back?
Yeah, River used all her regenerations to revive the Doctor, but who confirmed that he has access to all of them, rather than using all that power to bring him back?
No one confirmed it. Everyone's just taking an educated guess.

He never wrote that episode, although he did star in it
Gatiss is the viking in this one, or so I heard.
He's picked up his game in my opinion. Victory of the Daleks was a good good episode. I look forward to seeing if he can keep that standard going.
Imo Moffat was always going to alienate people with the direction the show has gone in so I'm not surprised.

My bad. But the point still stands :v:
Just got our TV Guide - says it is the scariest episode yet!
