That's stupid.

It doesn't light up, the top doesn't flick open, but I have to say that it is the only controller I use when I turn on the Wii every once in a while.
BBC News reports that Steven Moffat’s workload on Sherlock is the reason behind reduced Doctor Who in 2012. Damn you Sherlock :arghfist:
The scheduling of Dr Who has got NOTHING to with Sherlock. On the plus side THE BBC SPELLED MY NAME RIGHT!!!!
Ok so I know nothing about the series, should I start at the 2005 continuation or the original episodes for the best effect
BBC News reports that Steven Moffat’s workload on Sherlock is the reason behind reduced Doctor Who in 2012. Damn you Sherlock :arghfist:
Ugh, this was a joke made. Note to BBC controllers. Don't make jokes at important announcements. Seriously. "We're not having a full run of Doctor Who next year. Instead of explaining why let me tell you a joke" [editline]16th June 2011[/editline]
Ok so I know nothing about the series, should I start at the 2005 continuation or the original episodes for the best effect
Start at 2005
Ok so I know nothing about the series, should I start at the 2005 continuation or the original episodes for the best effect
Definitely 2005. The first series was specifically designed to introduce people with no knowledge of the series to the show. Many of the original episodes feel very slow paced and dull compared to modern TV, and a lot of the early ones are missing or only available as reconstructions.
Start at 2005
will there be any inside jokes for the cool cats who were around for the original
will there be any inside jokes for the cool cats who were around for the original
Yeah but you'll never notice them. As the 2005 series was aimed at a new generation, the people that were around for the original are round their 50's.
thanks guys!
Let us know how it goes
Start with the '05 series, then if you like it, branch out into some of the old serials too. Oh and just a pre-emptive heads up: between series 4 (2008) and series 5 (2010) there was a mini-series thing called "The Specials" (:downs:) that ran through 2009. I say this because judging by the number of people who jump from series 4 to 5 and wonder why the plot has moved forwards so much, it wasn't marketed very well.

I have one that shows "The Specials" in chronological order.
Okay, need some help understanding the last episode there... [sp]The Doctor's fall. Did that even happen? Yeah, no blood shed, great job, your greatest moment. And then River bitches at him for a bit about people thinking he's a warrior. Sure he seems a bit down, but his lowest moment? He seemed pretty chipper again at the end of the episode. Additionally, just a "what the fuck" at River being their daughter.[/sp] I probably missed something important, I haven't been keeping up with things as well as I should have.

He hasn't fallen yet.

I think i've a little theory concerning his "fall" being connected to the season-continuation in the autumn. Y'know how the name of the next episode is [sp]"Let's Kill Hitler"[/sp]? Well, suppose that thousands, if not MILLIONS, of time travellers all wanted one goal: to [sp]kill Adolf Hitler[/sp], but achieving said goal would cause a catastrophic reshuffling of time akin to the [sp]Command & Conquer: Red Alert[/sp] franchise, or far FAR worse. In an effort to preserve history, the Doctor would have to essentially be the [sp]bodyguard to the most evil man of the 20th century, fending off (perhaps even being forced to KILL) countless time-travelling assassins[/sp], just to keep time itself from falling apart. And what's worse, he can't even TRY to [sp]change Hitler for the better[/sp], since that would cause an equally-terrible paradox. Perhaps the heavy toll taken from being both [sp]the bodyguard of Hitler himself AND the destroyer of countless time-travellers[/sp] causes him to fall further than ever before, into deepest darkest madness, becoming akin to the Valeyard he so strove to escape becoming. It then falls to his distant companions to try and restore him to the Good Man he once was. Could it be one of the darkest and most amazing stories yet, or could it be so terrible not even RTD would touch it with a barge pole?
That'd be the best shit ever.
Wow, cheers. Guess i'm not all bad.
I watched the last couple of episodes a few days ago and it made me remember why I love Doctor who so damn much.

Anyone find it strange how the teaser shows the "skeleton arm" etc and can be compared to the Vashta Nerada? And one of the two parters was "Silence in the Library". The story arc is basically about the silence.

Don't get me wrong, of course what he did was terrible and awful and shouldn't have happened, but from the 51st century's (well, a few before that, whenever humans gain access to time-travel tech) perspective, wouldn't it very much be confined to the darkest corners of history books? This is the point where I'm proved hideously wrong and it turns out to be exactly right. It wouldn't surprise me, it explains the title pretty well...

[sp]The number of assassination attempts on Hitler that failed due to absurd reasons[/sp] is frankly astonishing. In fact, [sp]they're even used by some conspiracy theorists to "prove" that time travel is real.[/sp]

I still wonder how they're gonna solve that whole die thingy. If it really turns out that Matt is the last Doctor, I'm gonna be quite mad.
