Why hasn't Jenny returned yet?
How convenient that River was made a "doctor".
For the last three years we have known that and you're commenting on it now?! :P

What were you expecting?
(not being sarcastic here, I want to know what you consider to be a good episode)
I have to say, I too found this episode rather weak/lacking story depth.

Matt's first season was the best imo, I think that the 'cracks' plot brought all of the episodes together, instead of these seemingly insignificant episodes we're getting at the minute.
It just feels like a mess.
It was quite a cool episode, but I don't understand why people rip out at the "power of love" thing so much. Emotions are strong driving forces for people, love being no exception, so the whole blind hatred of love's power makes a lot of people come off as terribly terribly bitter and heartless, worse than that stuff that stops you biting your nails.
Unless it's all down to the overusage of that particular trope, in which case I can understand and sympathise accordingly. Though personally I think it wasn't necessarily just "love", but simply a rush of willpower and determination that gave Craig something to hold on to and reactivate the "souls" of the Cybermen, causing the Head Asplosions.
The Doctor made a lot of how old he was, and we know the Doctor who is killed by River is eleven hundred and three. I can't quite figure out how he got that old when we've been with him the whole time since he was nine hundred or so in The Impossible Astronaut. Has he lived 200 years between leaving Amy and Rory and visiting Craig? What's he been doing for all that time, and did he really last that long without a companion?
I was actually hoping [sp]Craig would actually turn into a Cyberman[/sp] because I fucking HATED that character

We haven't seen some of that stuff yet, probably. Maybe he did the investigations in-between God Complex and Closing Time?
Also, i've a feeling that the Silence are from that parallel universe with Area 52 and Emperor Churchill. Maybe their reason for wanting the Doctor dead is that the Doctor of THEIR universe was some sort of terrifying destroyer and all-around bad guy, thus causing the Silence to believe that by destroying the Doctor in all universes would prevent the other worlds from suffering such terrible fates as the ones that befell their universe.
The Cracks were probably the last-ditch suicidal attempt to destroy him completely and erase all things as an insane act of mercy, with the Silencio Assassination being their first attempt to eliminate all Doctors with precision and a distinct lack of omnicidal collateral damage.
Also also, he might've had the odd few companions here and there, trying to kick the habit. A bit of Captain Janeway here, bit of Liara T'soni there, maybe the occassional "Hello River" when the mood took him, but maybe he eventually broke the habit.
Or, alternatively, we invoke his first rule; the Doctor lies. It's all a facade to destroy the Silence and gain a brand new perspective on things, so powerful a masquerade that he's even fooling himself, as well as the countless eldritch abominations that watch from beyond his level of reality, scrutinising his adventures as puppeteered by certain writers. (guess who said eldritch abominations are)

I noticed the Doctor being a bit more socially awkward in this episode than ever before, so I'd say that's sign 1 of him being alone for 200 years. Sign 2 would be that the second he saw Amy, Rory and what had become of them he just switched emotions on the spot. Twice. First he got really happy and then he went back into sad-mode and that's not usually something that happens to someone you saw a day ago or less. So I'd say that's sign 2. He hasn't seen them for 200 years and is extremely happy about it. But then remembers why he left them and therefor backs off.

Hey, it would set us up a Valeyard-esque villain for the next season.
Also, seems like Amy made a name for herself, judging by the perfume advert, where it says "For the girl who's tired of waiting".

Which was a bit disappointing, considering what the Doctor's previous companions get up to when they're left behind.
Although I'm betting that it's a cover or something, just a source of income to distract people from what they're really up to. Defending the Earth whilst the Doctor's gone, and whatnot.
Yesssss The Silence

That felt like they were trying to push on us that they're not returning for the next series.
And I dunno, it could very well be that way. Maybe Karen just said she had signed on for next season because she's not allowed to say that she isn't. v:v:v

Oh, and hang on, the River we see in The Impossible Astronaut is older than the River we see killing the Doctor in the net episode, so she must've known about his death.
So why did she act like she didn't and why did she try to shoot herself? :v:
Defending the Earth whilst the Doctor's gone, and whatnot.
Aye, but they're probably not part of Torchwood.
Maybe she's a member of a restructured UNIT? Haven't heard from them in a while, not since Planet of the Dead.
Also, concerning the Doctor's dispositions since the '05 Reboot. At first he was the sole survivor, wandering about with his Northerness and survivor's guilt, but then he became a bouncy chatterbox with wild swings of emotion, later becoming an arrogant victor, eventually being brought crashing down and turning into an eccentric professor with a PhD in Great Fashion Sense. Where would he go from there? What could his next regeneration posibly bring? Guess it depends on the writers, and most importantly the actor.
Just imagine; BRIAN BLESSED as the Doctor. Now use armour-plating to protect your ears from THE LOUDNESS!
"HELLO, I'M THE DOCTOOOR!"

People hate the 'power of love' because it's such a cliché plot device which writers can use to get the characters out of any situation.

It's almost as if there's something that has the ability to make her forget about stuff!
