So I saw my friend was on Gmod, so I joined him. He was on an RP server. I saw there was a character creator there, with a loooot of freedom. So I made my character this:

On the subject of the TARDIS, this episode was the first episode where I noticed the Pull to Open sign actually emits light. Pretty cool effect!
People hate the 'power of love' because it's such a cliché plot device which writers can use to get the characters out of any situation.
Although if it hadn't been used so much in the past, it would've been fine in this situation. I mean, it wasn't so much the power of love, but the power of strong emotion, the one thing Cybermen strive to eradicate. It's just that in this situation the story was about a new father bonding with his son, so the power of love actually makes sense. In my opinion this episode was fine for using it, it's just pretty much every other episode that's ever used it that makes it a cliché. Mainly because every other time it's been used, it's been accompanied with a vague explanation and has obviously just been a cheap get-out clause for writers who don't know what to do. With the exception of the ending of The Doctor Dances, another (and pretty much the first in the new series) instance of a parent / child coming together, but like in Closing Time, it wasn't so much LOVE that saved the day, it was something else that just happened to be present in the whole notion of love. Same can be said for the ending of the Lodger, I guess. But yeah. If it wasn't such a cliché, and hadn't been done to death, I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't have that much of a problem with it. Problem is, it has, and, well, they do.
People hate the 'power of love' because it's such a cliché plot device which writers can use to get the characters out of any situation.
Well, that kinda makes sense. Trouble with something so universal, common and versatile, is that it can sometimes be overused and/or misused, leading to displeased fans and critics (of which some of us are both). But use something in the right place at the right time, in the right context for the right situation, even a cliché can be used without too much backlash. That is, if the viewers are intelligent enough, otherwise it doesn't make a difference.
The Doctor made a lot of how old he was, and we know the Doctor who is killed by River is eleven hundred and three. I can't quite figure out how he got that old when we've been with him the whole time since he was nine hundred or so in The Impossible Astronaut. Has he lived 200 years between leaving Amy and Rory and visiting Craig? What's he been doing for all that time, and did he really last that long without a companion?
He could have taken River when she was in jail out on dates, and sense they are both time lords and the doctor with a tardis the dates could last years at a time making her a companion of sorts? On an other note on the rule that the doctor lies, I wonder if it could extend to Dr. song.
Anyone can lie, but one needs to be convincing enough to truly seduce a sasquatch with a silver tongue, as well as having the fortitude and mindset to lie, cheat and deceive without any moral conflicts on the inside. Hopefully River is one of those maverick wildcats with those skills and indifferences.
Surely something has to change this time, they can't go back to the diner and meet with the 200 years younger Doctor again - can they?
Just thinking, another reason why I (still) don't think that River is the one who kills the Doctor - she's been imprisoned by the army that Kovarian is allied with, charged with killing someone. Could it be that she hasn't been incarcerated for killing the Doctor, but not killing the Doctor, and killing someone else? It'd make more sense, and if it's true, then technically she hasn't lied. [editline]24th September 2011[/editline]
Surely something has to change this time, they can't go back to the diner and meet with the 200 years younger Doctor again - can they?
Before "The Girl who Waited", I would've been inclined to disagree, but after seeing that events can be changed with little or no consequences, I'm not sure.
Sounds plausible, but the someone else might be the you-know-what, and some people are more hostile towards that concept than UberHaxorNova was towards the pineapple guy who made the Blue Wool in the desert. But I don't think having the Ganger Doctor would necessarily BROKE THE RULES!, but it'd be kind of a Chekov's Stunt Double.
It's almost as if there's something that has the ability to make her forget about stuff!
Shit.
I think I've finally realized what the damned eye patches are. Some sort of device to protect the wearer from the effects of the silence. Notice how in the scene with River, Kovarian looks straight at the silence and then looks away and back at them and never looks startled. Also, in the prequel, the soldiers/guards look at the silence and don't seem to forget it after looking away. On that point, why the heck are the silence in area 52 and, more importantly, why the heck are Kovarian's soldiers guarding area 52 (or is that UNIT?) Damn so many questions. I want next Saturday to be now.
Apparently Stormageddon translates as Fallen Silence in Greek.
from urban dictionary
Stormageddon A television news term that refers to when a television station or network hypes a meteorological event or uses general fear tactics to build an apocalyptic like panic among viewers; generally implying watching only them can protect you.
Could this apocalyptic event be the death of the Doctor?
from urban dictionary Could this apocalyptic event be the death of the Doctor?
no
no
I disagree I think it may be in reference. [editline]24th September 2011[/editline] Wait... how is the Doctor going to age by 200 years when he gets to America, or did he lie?

I think it's like a holographic display with a picture and description of a Silent so the memory erasure doesn't work on Kovarian, since she can see one at all times.
i am willing to bet money that it is something along the lines of: doctor walks into craigs flat to see it's been re-modeled doctor: huh, i can see you've done the place up a bit, hmm, i don't like it damn how i love refrences (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPwuP11fS7I&feature=related) 0:30
called it! also, i read some where there was a reference to the TV movie with the 8th doctor, did anyone spot it?
I loved the Baby Talk and the "SSSHHH" bits

To the guy making the Tardis Is it possible to port it to GMod and make it so it flies all wonky like in the show
The preview for the finale looks amazing. I can't wait! I also very much enjoyed this episode. It was light-hearted and fun.
To the guy making the Tardis Is it possible to port it to GMod and make it so it flies all wonky like in the show
There already is a Doctor Who pack for GMod with Tardis interior and phonebox.

Stormgeddon, god of everything? Or did I just hear this wrong?
Looks like grlira was right about the eye patch, nice one :D
Damn you BBC and your homosexual overtones.
There's a tiny person in my head who really wishes to head the four knocks if the Doctor was to die. I don't know why, but it would just seem... I dunno.
