Just saw it, the question hidden in plane sight........absolute genius! Moffat surpasses himself yet again, i personally thought the episode was brilliant it left with a good cliffhanger for when the next season starts after christmas.
Oh god! oh God! I just saw tonght's episode! [sp]THE DOCTOR IS THE MOST MAGNIFICENT BASTARD OF MAGNIFICENT BASTARDS EVER[/sp]
Call me a total idiot, but it's passed me why the question is so incredibly important?
Because [sp]Nobody is ever meant to know The Doctor's name. presumably.[/sp]
I liked the episode but there's one thing bothering me: Are we really supposed to believe that the Doctor pretty must just spent 200 years of his life (more or less a sixth) flying around and nothing major happened? He burned trough 2 regenerations in a few years and then 200 go by like that? And nothing significant happened to affect his personality, either? Come on. Sorry for a badly written post, really tired right now.
Because [sp]Nobody is ever meant to know The Doctor's name. presumably.[/sp]
I got that, I was just wondering why they shouldn't. Anyway, I'm sure Moffat will have that explained in the next season.
If moffat's such a genius as to [sp] make the name of the show the actual question which everybodies spent weeks trying to work out without getting it [/sp] then im pretty sure he can pull off a way of explaining why the doctor's name must not be known.

The question isn't really hidden in plain sight, unless they know they're in a tv show called Doctor Who.
PLOT HOLE Amy remembered killing Kovarian from the time-bubble thing, so she'd recognise her when she's popping in all those walls during Series 6A. Unless it was all a massive gambit to get Kovarian to believe Amy didn't know she was a Flesh?
Well, not really, if you used same logic she would also know who River was, no?

And then they're told "just the Doctor", and they have to deal with it. Although obviously the question itself isn't universe-ending / silence-felling in itself, since loads of people have asked it before, and it hasn't done anything, probably because they never get an answer. But what Dorium said about the time when "when no living creature can speak falsely or fail to answer" - I think, somehow, something will force anything and everything to tell the truth when questioned. The Doctor will be asked "Doctor who?" and will not be able to tell them "just the Doctor". He will be forced to give his real name, which will lead to dire consequences that the Silence don't want to have to deal with.
I really don't know if I liked it or not, it felt like a cheap way out with the teselecta thing. I'm also not sure if I like the whole idea of a 3 series story arc

Besides, there was a 2-series arc with David Tennant in Planet of the Ood when they predicted his song was ending - that wasn't resolved until the end of the specials. I think, as long as it's handled well and continues to have a bit of monster-of-the-week thrown in, it'll be pretty awesome. Also, I no longer just want a car. It must be a balloon car.

I don't think I've ever seen a Doctor Who episode that hasn't entertained me in some way
By the way guys I told you that after this episode everyone would think him dead and he would fade into obscurity and noone agreed I fucking called that
Oh my god. I just got to the part where [sp]The Doctor tells River his real name (Edit: Yes, I know just got to that part after)[/sp] and then the TV suddenly freezes. WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Well, fortunately it came back on.

That was a great way to pull it off. I'm just annoyed at the fact that (in my opinion), the question is too fourth-wally-ish, and that episode felt rushed and was set in another "future that never was". I seriously hope that's not a recurring thing. [editline]2nd October 2011[/editline] Other than that, the Tesselacta thing was stroke of genius.
Now we have to wait until next year :C

Also what did River tell the doctor on the episode where she dies in the library if he never told her his name?

Um, did dain stream the confidential? BBCA doesn't show them, and I would really like to see it.
I wonder if it was a joke to have a blue man in box get taken away by a man with a blue box and be put in his blue box. Then have that blue man be put into a man that looks like the man with that blue box.
Except he never went in the Tesselecta.
But you never saw him be put back on the podium until at the end so you can assume he was kepted in the tardis, (and the doctor brought the tardis with him when he went inside the tesselecta).

The tesselecta thing was genius but it felt rushed - this NEEDED to be a two parter finale in my opinion. Steven Moffat needs to stop playing around with the shows structure so much.
I'm quite sure the tardis was inside the tesselecta or he wouldn't have pointed to it when he was inside looking at river though the eye. Also so what about the eye beamamathingy, if it can teleport the cloathes off people's back then it can teleport the objects like the tradis itself.
160 new posts - nice. Anyway, I think that this half of the episode lacked one thing - Rory punching people (bar Hitler). He should've at least punched one of the Silence. Personally I loved the episode, and thought that the Tesellecta (?) thing was brilliant.
