Watching all the new Dr. Who's recently (like from Eccleston on). Up to The Doctor's Wife now. So good. Though the Doctor is getting noticably more mental as the series goes on.
Hopefully he'll be sobered up by now.
I meant E19, not the Doctor, although I bet the End of Time was kinda sobering for the Doctor.
i think rtd was a great writer, way better than moffat.
hi guys
I'd just like to say, these were the views of a mad man whom had just staggered in after a Bonfire.
I feel much better now.

So what did you have? Apart from a visit to the bonfire?
Speaking of Bonfire Night, the new Doctor Who game's been released. Guess I could play it, see how it is.

Quite a bit of Strongbow and some Vodka..
And yeah, the new adventure game is pretty good.
I'd play a bit more (got up to when [sp]the TARDIS landed in the basement[/sp]), but i've got to work on my personal statement.
So I want to watch the old series, where's the best place to find them?
they're pretty cheap in shops, depending on what episode you want, or videos off Ebay, i don't think there's a full database online so just use google

oh god
Well, I finished the Gunpowder Plot last night, and i've got mixed feelings for the game. On one hand, the gameplay's been a bit shaken-up, with actual weapons that worked against the Sontarans and Rutans (Slingshot against Sontarans, some sort of "EMP Gun" against Rutans); feels kinda neat to have some semblance of combat in the game, even if the weapons only "incapacitate" your enemies, though by the time they allegedly come around, you're probably out of the area.
On the other hand, there were issues with design, like in one part I could actually sneak through tables, and there were parts where I could just fall out of the world, though in the latter case I somehow reappeared in the actual level each time. Either they were skimping on the QC during the development process, or my copy might be a little bugged.
All in all, a mixed bag. Also, there are special easter eggs in this adventure, involving certain landmarks where something appears and gives a creepy description of something. I forget what it was.
Does anyone else think that Moffat actually knew how Series 6 would go when writing 5? Seems to me like he's written himself into a corner.

He probably has an outline kepted in private, then tells certain writters parts of the outline and main actors their character's hidden past without anyone knowing until the final script is written.
Anyone know the name of the where they introduce The Master for the first time? (Old-Who)
look for the third doctor, "Terror of the Autons".
I truly didn't like the plot for series 6. The episodes, good. The plot - convoluted.

I watched Closing Time again last night, that stands as one of my favourite episodes from Series 6 though.
What have I missed, DW thread?

Didn't stop them doing Journey's End, though?
I hope Jack at least makes an appearance.

didn't it end like, horribly dissappointingly?
[editline]10th November 2011[/editline]
i don't know myself i stopped watching after like the fifth episode because it just seemed like a poor attempt to emulate a XIII/24-style conspiracy-sillyness.

oh for christ's sake. what goes through RTD's mind when he makes endings?

Nothing.
Y'know, we all know that Russel's writing isn't exactly the best, but i'm wondering what changes to his writing style would make his later productions less like what we've come to expect from Mr Davies. Does he tie up most loose ends? Should he hide more things in plain sight instead of pulling the rabbits out of the hat (Chekov's Gun vs Deus Ex Machina)? Would it be wise to lower the amount of "gay" in his stories?
If y'all have any ideas as to how Mr Davies could improve his writing, by all means post them.
I'm not being condescending or agressive here, in case I come across as such; i'm merely curious as to how a not-so-good writer could improve his writing style and produce better stories.
The way Davies depicts gays makes it come off like he's saying "Look at the funny gay man! He has sex with men, isn't that funny?"
Yes, that seems to be a problem. I guess the 51st century is a bit too decadent for the taste of 21st century chaps like ourselves, and the other portrayals seems similarly that way.
Maybe if it showcased possible internal struggles, like coming to terms with one's orientation or exploring the reasons behind it, that'd probably be a bit deeper than the shallow approach of just wanting to bum a brotha, which has it's appropriate place in certain things, but isn't to be overused (and somewhat abused) outside of some seedy porno you find on the internet.
Also, I can think of a few examples of the "funny gay man" depiction, like the scene with the guy at the bar, but didn't Jack have some sort of attachment to Angelo, even after his betrayal and all those years after the 20's?
