There was a trailer on BBC1 at 8pm last night, anyone catch it?
Nope.
I think that it worked really well, that it was the closes point you could ever come to instant destruction on a wide scale, just on the tip of oblivion. Perfect prison for the (alleged) root of all evil. Though, then again, if I recall, some of the older forms of the Doctor defeated great old ones.
Indeed; apparently they featured in some of the black and white episodes. I dunno why they did it; as far as I know the works of HPL didn't become public domain until 2008. Regardless of the copyright stuff, apparently Lovecraft was very generous with his works, encouraging others to borrow some of his ideas and reference some of the stuff he made. That's how the Cthulhu Mythos blossomed so much even after Howard's death, and is probably why there's so much Lovecraftian stuff in media. Hell, even the name Lovecraft is kind of a household name. Fhtagn aside, any more news concerning stuff? *grasps straws*
Well, technically it was in orbit AROUND it, but the thought of being on an object in orbit around a black hole is pretty cool, as well as pretty terrifying. I mean, take a look at the Collector Base; that was very close to the Galactic Core, which is technically the biggest black hole in the ENTIRE DAMN GALAXY.
Though I was slightly annoyed at how they laboured the point that the planet was "impossible" due to orbiting around a black hole. Funfact - if the sun were suddenly replaced by a black hole of the same mass, our orbit would be almost unchanged (there would be a slight imbalance caused be the lack of outward-pushing radiation pressure)

"Steven Moffat announces "The final days of the Ponds are coming during the next series. Then the Doctor will meet a new friend"" Yay!
"Steven Moffat announces "The final days of the Ponds are coming during the next series. We'll be bringing you more details tomorrow! oh dear lorrddd
A new friend and the final days of the Ponds... That doesn't sound good. I just hope that Rory AT LEAST goes out after an epic fistfight that'd make God Hand look like a prissy hand-slapping contest.
I love the Ponds :(
I love the Ponds :(
We had to suffer Donna and she just lingered and lingered. And now that they have really GOOD companions they're going to ditch them? I don't understand why, unless the actors are desperate to move on.

I don't understand why, unless the actors are desperate to move on.
the ponds had two whole seasons, and there were really more episodes about them (+ river) and their relationship than the doctor himself than in previous seasons. the way i see it, rose got two seasons because she needed to help bridge the gap between eccleston and tennant for newer viewers. i'm glad we're having a switch. i'd like to see things get back to the interactions between the doctor and his companion instead of having the relationship troubles of two take the foreground in each episode [editline]15th December 2011[/editline] at least i hope to god there's only going to be one companion in the coming season
Just noticed that Voyage of the Damned is on BBC3 tomorrow (Saturday) at 7pm, for any of those who want to see it again.
We had to suffer Donna and she just lingered and lingered. And now that they have really GOOD companions they're going to ditch them? I don't understand why, unless the actors are desperate to move on.
Donna is my favorite companion. :saddowns:
Yeah, do you really want 11 to have two constant companions for ALL of his series. It just gets stale, two is enough imo.
Just heard yesterday that Karen Gillan is getting written off. I wonder who the new companion is going to be. [editline]16th December 2011[/editline] Karen Gillan was hot, and that's a standard I hope they keep with the next companion, even if it's a dude for some reason.
next companion should be captain jack [editline]16th December 2011[/editline] sparrow
next companion should be captain jack
PLEASE GOD YES
another hot female companion please
I hope sometime in the future we get a gay Doctor. Media is too heterosexual oriented, at least with Doctor Who he can regenerate and be a brand new person that would make sense for him to be gay. Bonus points if the gay doctor is just Tennant but with less clothing.

You learn something new everyday.
He's an Alien. Why would Female and Male humans be any different to him?
Yeah Doctor is pansexual but just doesn't flaunt it.
He's a non camp Jack
Jack is camp? I never saw Torchwood. I've always wanted to though.
Jack is camp? I never saw Torchwood. I've always wanted to though.
Does a bear shit in woods?
I don't know, I'm not a bear.
