But many people consider doctor who a children’s show and HBO would be all like 'this episode needs more sex scenes!'
The Daily Fail would love that.
It would be quite bigger with larger production values and budgets, even though the story is what matters for most of us. But they've gotta work with what they got. I dunno whether or not it has anything to do with being funded by the main broadcasting organisation in the UK, though i'm pretty sure the BBC is an autonomous broadcaster, and isn't state-owned or anything.
The BBC does have to broadcast what the Royal Charter tells it to, like Songs of Praise.

In my opinion Doctor Who is already on the borderline of adult AND children's show, the adultery part comes in with all the suggestive sentences and such but that's just me
I'm fine with it aslong as they don't start showing sex scenes, would probably ruin DWho for me
Team up BBC with HBO much like they did with Starz for Torchwood. It'd produce some interesting results. HBO are fantastic at making quality TV and they would keep true to the origins of the show like they've done with Game of Thrones.

You fancy making the titles if we ever get around to making this Doctor Who series? :v:
I take it that's the end of the bit before the titles of The Eleventh Hour? As I see skyline.

Sure, I'd be happy to do the titles. It's not actually the skyline, it's the rest of the clouds in the vortex. Because I have the vortex layer turned off in the screenshot to show the clouds more clearly.
Here's a shot of all of it so far:

Annnnd colour change half way through:

Unfortunately, I can't hide the upcoming trail of clouds because they're on top of the vortex layer, which was rendered separately. Gonna upload a video of what I have so far (no colour correction or titles yet) and post it here.
I need to rerender the clouds in Maya because not all of them spin, and I need to redo the TARDIS pass to fix the glow on the windows.

Here it is:

The TARDIS is a little shoddy on the animation side too, but you can sort of see what I'm getting at.
Well if everyone else is showing off Vortex's I guess Ill toss in the one I quickly put together as a test for the Doctor Who Mod...

No after Effects or special effects added, might make its way in to the next pack.

Sorry, doctor who mod?
Sorry, doctor who mod?
Well not so much mod as it is my Addon Packs,
http://www.facepunch.com/threads/763896-Doctor-Who
What happened in the last episode? I don't know if I missed it or not and all of them are off iplayer.
Long story short, the Doctor thought it was time to blow this scene, get everybody and the stuff together... ok, 3 2 1 let's jam. (I doubt Acezorz will approve of this in the least)
But in reality he ammased an army, took Demon's Run with barely any bloodshed (save for some infighting involving the Headless Monks and the Anglican Regiment), only for Madame Kovarian to switch the rescued baby with a Flesh avatar, and set the surviving Headless Monks on the heroes.
Basically a letdown
I thought it was nice to see what the doctor was capable of when he plans things out, most of the time he just appear in the middle of a crisis and just half asses a solution to the whole thing. Here we got to see him plan what he was going to do methodically before hand and the result was quite impressive.

I liked that aspect of it too, I hope we see more episodes where the Doctor plans ahead of an event rather then appearing and solving a problem.
Also, on the subject of a companion lite episode, I think it would be interesting to see a whole series where The Doctor doesn't have a permanent companion. Just him going around in the TARDIS looking for anything thats interesting and/or needs to be saved.

Also, woo! my 1000th post! :toot:
I think someone has some competition on the trailer front. I just saw this on the DW site I go on. All 5 series of epicness:

There are no words to describe how awesome that is!
None of the Youtube videos will even load for me *sigh* But I can imagine people being a lot better than me, maybe they're in the job already. All I can do is learn new things and progress, which I love to do. As long as I get better than great! Aim is to become a director mostly, but if it means getting their through being an editor then that is what I will do.
Also, got the sister playing Bioshock.. she got in the tower and said "Can I go in the light? Nothing will eat me will it?" My reply: "YOU DON'T EVEN LIKE DOCTOR WHO WTF"

That was great, only complaint was the BBC One logo being too high up and too small. If you exclude that, it's a cracking trailer.

Yeah, the whole time I watched that trailer, that BBC logo annoyed the hell out of me.
Guys, I looked at these Adventure games... then I played Penumbra/Amnesia.
I'm not kidding, Doctor Who NEEDS to be made by the Amnesia makers, it has everything like the clues etc, a game where you solve puzzles and avoiding enemies without the need of weapons. It's so eerie, I went down a dark narrow corridor to the end to find something in a desk, with my lantern on. Oil runs out, I turn around and in the distance is a figure in the mist slowly walking to me :ohdear:
Now if that was a Dalek or a Cyberman, it would be safe to say I would have a different and new outlook on them.
Aye, the BBC should get into contact with Frictional, only good things could come out of it.
Maybe this is what we should do.. Amnesia has a custom story editor doesn't it? It's editor is very similar to Valve's Hammer so it could be a good chance to design levels and make stories from it.
[editline]20th June 2011[/editline]
Oh god, we have to make the Weeping enemies our first enemy. Imagine having to keep as many lights on as possible and looking away from the object made it move? :ohdear: Or Vashta Nerada.

No.
Torchwood looks awful this year. The very style of it has gone out of the window entirely, and looks more like CSI now than Torchwood.
Keep Doctor Who in BBC Wales, where it belongs.
Torchwood has alway looked awful that is it's style.

I completely disagree: Torchwood looks better than it ever did, what style are you referring to? It actually has a developing plot now instead of monster of the week and it has Bill Pullman.
Bill fucking Pullman!
I really wish Phillip Pullman wrote a Doctor Who story. Wow would it ever be good.
