Well now, I can't be the only one a little bit pissed at the fact we're being fed a "watered down" version of what is essentially a british TV show compared to the version that US viewers are being shown.
Well, you could just... procure it ...from somewhere... ...i have already said too much.
I've just been thinking, it's probably best not to publicise this thread as a place for Torchwood too. This is a mostly Brit thread, and if we get an influx of new Torchwood viewers, they'd probably be from America, and so would have seen Torchwood AGES before us - it airs on the 8th for them and the 14th for us, leaving us with only 1 day a week or so we could view this thread without spoiling it for ourselves. Also, I just learned something interesting from DWM, and that's that Britain will be and already has been watching a toned down version of Torchwood in comparison to America. In Children of Earth, the child's death-scene was a lot less violent than the American aired version, and in this new series, the American one will be more violent/sexual that the British version, though the British one WILL have a longer airtime to fill its slot, so will have extra footage. /random info dump
I'll watch both versions.

[editline]3rd July 2011[/editline] and canadians and swedes and norwegians I guess
I wonder how long 11 has before his song ends. I don't "want" him to regenerate yet, but I'm curious what Moffat will cook up for his regeneration...
So I'll get it the 8th, so I won't spoil it. But that means I need to find a iPlayer proxy, and nothing seems to work, so I can watch the Brit version.

John said this in an interview when Series 1 was aired. I've known about this for a while. British Censors are REALLY tight. Which is why we don't have Late Night Talk Shows [editline]3rd July 2011[/editline]
I wonder how long 11 has before his song ends. We always see the multi-doctor stories from a nostalgic perspective. If the 11th Doctor is actively working with a future incarnation it will be strange. At the end he could regenerate into the twelfth Doctor anyway. Would be unique and interesting. Though I don't want Matt to go
Yeah I really wish we had something like the Craig Ferguson show or whatever it's called. ....hosted by David Tennant.
In all seriousness, how many Americans are in this thread? Me and who else?
I'm the only Swede in here.
No I wish we just had The Late Late Show here like Australia do.
In all seriousness, how many Americans are in this thread? Me and who else?
I am! Though in all fairness, I tend to lurk more in this thread than regularly contribute.
I'm the only Swede in here.
And I'm the only Norwegian here. [editline]03 july 2011[/editline] Actually, isn't VaSTinY Swedish?
I think the 50th Aniversary should have all the living Doctors. PLUS Doctor 12.
Too bad Chris Ec's out.
Alright. Where can I watch the 6th season? [editline]3rd July 2011[/editline]
Too bad Chris Ec's out.
A replacement actor, possibly?
And I'm the only Norwegian here. [editline]03 july 2011[/editline] Actually, isn't VaSTinY Swedish?
Your flag says Sweden. D:
I just realised how good an actor this guy is. He played Baines in Family of Blood. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/OtHfy.jpg[/thumb] That's him in Game of Thrones. He plays a dick in both roles I've seen him in. :v:
As I said, DWM painted it as if 11 will definitely be the last incarnation in the latest DWM magazine... :ohdear:
Last incarnation? As in if he dies the doctors story ends completely? D:
Last incarnation? As in if he dies the doctors story ends completely? D:
It brought up the fact that we've seen him die, but he still has 200 years. The sentence that worried me was "given that we now know that he is the last incarnation of the time lord". I posted this along with the Rory condom ad, so I think no one really paid much attention to this... I'm really hoping that this is just a writer being dumb. I'm sure that they would always leave his life/death ambiguous if they ever wanted to finish Doctor Who purely because it's something that could always be revived...

I sort of want to believe it's a clone of some sort.
Pretty sure it's a case of the writer thinking that what they've seen in the episode is the only thing that could possibly happen and there's no way that they could change something further on down the line.
Wait I just remembered. "Time can be rewritten." There's still hope! :D
Yeah, I'm just hoping it's an ignorant writer or something. I just hate them for putting doubt in my mind.
But many people consider doctor who a children’s show and HBO would be all like 'this episode needs more sex scenes!'
The Matt Smith era Whos have been far from children show content. Yes, they're readily viewable for a child, but they just don't feel like kids shows. And I say that in the most loving way possible.
I'd say this entire new series (1-6) haven't been very "kids friendly" at all.
I agree, partially, but the 10th Doctor episodes felt pretty childish and pure scifi as possible, even maintaining that level of intrigue that keeps us watching. I guess it sorta fits the Doctor, the show, I mean. Eccleston was supposed to be the War Torn Doctor; he's fresh off of murdering his entire species and eradicating the Daleks in a long and bloody war, so while most of the episodes felt like they were a big adventure, there was a feeling of caution and awkwardness when he was in violent situations, mostly because he went fairly manic. Tennant is finally dealing with all the crap he's done and is attempting to return to a semblance of normality whilst also trying to atone, giving the show a fairly lighter if still dire tone. Smith, on the other hand, is just back to normal and dicking around. He's the Doctor as-is. No trauma, no need for atonement, none of that. He's...the Doctor. If shit hits the fan, he'll throw more at it. He's the Doctor that made the decision to end the Time War. If he wants to go to war, he will. If he wants to just have fun, he will. Because that's the Doctor.

[editline]3rd July 2011[/editline] My gods we need somebody with a voice or accent similar to Matt Smith's (of which I'm hopeful we have a gigantic surplus here) to record that last sentence while the song plays in the background.
