Oh right it's Thursday again, Torchwood time in 2 and a half hours.
For me, DW is being put aside for Deus Ex, ONLY 7 HOURS LEFT MOTHERFUCKER! :@
It unlocks tonight? Sweet. Also, looking forward to both Torchwood tonight and Doctor Who tomorrow. (I haven't been in the Torchwood thread for a week, because I know from the flood of activity there are spoilers in there from tonights episode :v: ). [editline]25th August 2011[/editline] Not tomorrow, on Saturday. Derp.
Wait what? Torchwood.. tonight? Did I just travel time? E: Disregard, it's the UK one. Still, cant wait for Doctor, aieou.
Yep, half-hour left.
Question, is Miracle Day occurring at the same time as season 6.2?
Question, is Miracle Day occurring at the same time as season 6.2?
This series is built around time travel.
I dunno; maybe the Doctor's missing the Miracle fiasco, and by the time he returns Jack has undone the Miracle and governments are making their "repairations"...
I dunno; maybe the Doctor's missing the Miracle fiasco, and by the time he returns Jack has undone the Miracle and governments are making their "repairations"...
Maybe it's just a point that's in flux and the Doc'll go back and sort it out at one point. I mean, it could just be a "what if?" moment in time, sort of like how the reality where Donna turned left killed the Doctor. Oooh, maybe it's one of the Trickster's brigade pissing around with time again? Jack messed up their plan with the president when he killed those parasites, maybe they got pissed with Jack and want revenge?
nah the trickster's brigade is just a throwaway villain to establish jack and whats-his-name's partnership
The villain really isn't important. The relationship however is and very much present.
Personally I was thinking it was a branch-off point. Remember Doomsday when the Doctor said every decision creates a parallel world? Maybe this is one of them; a sort of "side-story" universe where the Miracle happened. Although there's always the chance that the Torchwood universe itself is a side-story most of the time (except for those instances where it is shown in the main show), with most of the events of Torchwood rarely affecting the main Doctorverse, or simply the events of the Torchwood serials being overlooked by the main Who writers. Also, here's an interesting theory; unrelated to Who but related to the whole side-story concept. It pertains to the "floating timeline" of the Simpsons franchise. Since the show started in '89, the characters have never aged, but the world seems to have changed to fit the modern age present at the time. Personally my view of this is that different episodes of the Simpsons take place in a myriad of different "Elseworlds", where the world is a bit different yet still the same. Some of the main differences would be that the characters are the same age in that time period as they were during a different period in a different elseworld, as well as Springfield being situated in a different part of America depending on the episode, or the elseworld. It's kinda weird, but I don't think Matt Groening would ever think of the floating timeline as a myraid of Elseworlds. After all, it's a damn weird concept. Simpsons Elseworlds aside, tonight's episode of Torchwood was an interesting look back at Jack in the 20's. Bit too much man-love, but we can expect that from Mr Davies. After finding out about Angelo, my guess is that he's lived a long time and he's now old and decrepit, using some of Jack's blood, taken by the fearful Italian-American-Catholic people back in the 20s, as a sort of "reagent" that would later fuel the Miracle. Said blood was likely kept on ice until those [sp]Illuminati[/sp] guys (is pretty apparent, what with the triangle symbolism everywhere) acquired the morphic field tech to replicate the fixed-point energy (like zero-point energy only related to time) that was present in Jack's body. However, even after all those years on ice the energy signature was likely decayed and skewed, resulting in the quasi-life of the Miracle, so now Angelo and the other guys behind the Miracle are gonna try to get a fresh reading of "FPE" off of Jack, so they can transmit the full power FPE signal through the morphic field to give everyone the true "immortality". I guess they probably didn't hear about Jack's apparent mortality, though, but I still think Jack's FPE signature was simply downgraded to quasi-mortal like everyone else, since he's technically human even if he was born on the Boe-shane Peninsula, and he's just over-reacting about it. How he's going to get back his full-power FPE signal is uncertain, but it might have something to do with Bad Wolf should She rear Her blonde head again (the She and Her are reference to Bad Wolf's "god-like power"), or maybe Jack becomes mortal once the Miracle switches off, only to discover something that refines his FPE signature to the quality it was after his first resurrection. That's my two cents on the matter anyway, but I doubt that's really the case, unless RTD's writing is really that predictable. To sum it up, fixed-point energy is the "ground-state" of temporal mechanics, just as zero-point energy is the "ground-state" of quantum mechanics, and the less of it a lifeform has the less prone it is to change. After synthesizing an imperfect FPE signature, the guys behind the Miracle transmitted the signature through the morphic field of the human race, rendering everyone quasi-mortal by altering their own FPE signatures, including Jack's despite his signature being as close to the temporal ground-state as possible. Even if the transmitter is turned off, all humans would still have a quasi-mortal FPE sig, so Torchwood will need to generate an FPE signature similar to that of mankind before the Miracle, which shouldn't be hard since only humans were affected. So basically they'd need to analyse the FPE signature of a chimpanzee and transmit THAT through the morphic field, restoring humanity to mortality and allowing death to continue once more. Hopefully transmitting a chimp's signature through the morphic field of mankind won't make them a bit more like chimps, even though I dunno how that would be possible.
I wouldn't be surprised if RTD kills off Jack so Moffat can't use him in DW.
I would. Why does everybody thing RTD is some bitter flamboyantly gay man who can't write?
Well, I guess he isn't THAT bad, but he's still not as good as Moffat. Though comparing the Moff's writings to those of Russel would kinda be like comparing Deus Ex to Family Guy; the latter might not be as high-quality as the former, but they're different styles as well.
I would. Why does everybody thing RTD is some bitter flamboyantly gay man who can't write?
After the amazingly gay Torchwood episode I kind of dislike him. I don't mind the gay stuff but this was a little over the top.
I wouldn't be surprised if RTD kills off Jack so Moffat can't use him in DW.
I don't think Steven really cares. And I'm pretty sure Steven has talked with RTD about the whole Miracle Day story.

One bad episode imposed on him by bad budget and forced relations with Blue Peter. He still brought back the whole fucking series. Was the only one who thought Chris or David could do the role. And wrote some stella episodes. Turn left, Midnight, Utopia, and his finales were brilliant. Then he made two highly successful spin offs. The mans talent is fine.

Who wants to play on the swings when they've already been to Disneyland? The reason some people don't like him anymore was because of the Specials. Seriously, if he had to do one, two or three more series after that with similar quality, the show may have been cancelled. He jumped the shark at that point!
I would. Why does everybody thing RTD is some bitter flamboyantly gay man who can't write?
Unneeded gay characters, terrible deus ex (:c) machina outcomes, obligatory gay sex scenes (the latest Torchwood is goldmine for this). I have an analogy for Torchwood: Series 1 & 2 are the stroking, Children of Earth is the orgasm, Miracle Day is the dirty feeling afterwards.
i love this so much, it sums up doctor who perfectly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLXOO9PnnMQ&list=FLKAhDNH7kUDPXJJheubRJtQ&index=10&feature=plpp
In other, non-time challenged news, I have 2,500 posts. Woo.
I just watched the latest torchwood with my mum, it felt so awkward during the gay scenes
