I can't pull off a Coleman Slide at all. It's depressing.
Good video but Original is way too overrated imo.
My board, but differing colour of wheels and graphic. I needed something smaller for cruising in a busy-ish city, and I plan on using it for the commute to school. Buses are annoying.
Man, I'd like to but where I live is completely flat.
Clearly not a sport made for the Dutch :v:

i personally don't do the riding but i help with photography sometimes, its a couple of my friends that always around around town longboarding but heres some of there stuff custom board that he did
Outstanding feel that might be...
I have this pre built Element skateboard, I can ride easily but going downhill like that, it is just too hard to keep control of board. Am I bad skater or is it actually much easier with longboard?
Ok, I think I'll buy a cheap board and try this out to see if I actually like it, then later on if I do I'll get a much more expensive one. It sucks that none of my friends have one I could borrow.
does anyone know any bearings that are good for cruising long distance on a flat road? my bearings suck and there are no hills near me.
I would buy some Bones Super Reds Bearings from http://www.daddiesboardshop.com/. I've been riding on them for months without having to relube them yet. You could also get ceramic ones as well if you want really nice bearings.
Clearly not a sport made for the Dutch :v:
Only thing that isn't flat here is Dykes, but they just have a sort of ramp up and then they're flat, more to the south and a bit more to the east it's more hilly though.

As long as other skaters who ride skateboards don't hassle me about not doing tricks on my longboard, then i'm totally okay with you.
As long as other skaters who ride skateboards don't hassle me about not doing tricks on my longboard, then i'm totally okay with you.
You should try some tricks for fun though :). sliding is a blast. especially good way to end a bombing run on a big hill.
As long as other skaters who ride skateboards don't hassle me about not doing tricks on my longboard, then i'm totally okay with you.
Indeed. It's fucking annoying when people bring up a skateboarding v longboarding argument. They're for completely different purposes that can occasionally overlap.
Can't decide on what to get for a first board. Here's a list of what I'll be selling to get some cash for the longboard.
Games: Xbox 360 Elite Fable 3 Limited Edition, almost brand new Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2 DVD's: MADE A Sense Of Freedom Donnie Darko Panic Room Harry Potter and The Chamber Of Secrets Hungry Hearts Shaolin Soccer World Trade Center The Metro Chase The Poseidon Adventure Stargate The DVD collection containing The Enemy Within, Emancipation and The Broca Divide. Lord of War (None of there are mine, also they're really old as you can tell.)
How much do you think I'd get out of all of this? If you make up an estimate, could you also suggest a decent beginners board that'll be used mainly for cruising and perhaps sliding for the same price or less? Cheers.
You should try some tricks for fun though :). sliding is a blast. especially good way to end a bombing run on a big hill.
I would but I haven't tried sliding yet mainly because I don't have the gloves or a helmet. v:v:v
I want a long board so bad.. Is there a place where i can get one for cheep?
I would but I haven't tried sliding yet mainly because I don't have the gloves or a helmet. v:v:v
You can make gloves for like 15 bucks. home depo yard gloves. Industrial velcro. Cutting Board. boom. saved 50 bucks. Thats what I did, works great. To above poster. Its worth it to wait til you have about 150-200 bucks. You want a board to last really long get an Original or a Loaded board. I have a Tan Tien Loaded http://www.loadedboards.com/boards/tanTien.html Original is a bit cheaper and still pretty decent. http://www.originalskateboards.com/longboards They use a lot of spring loaded trucks so the boards turn like mofo's. Awesome carving boards, not really great for sliding or downhill bombing. still a fun ride. cheaper still, gravity is pretty decent. more generic boards. http://www.gravityboard.com/pages/gstore/boards/boards.html
I'm willing to sell you mine for 100-125, it's a pretty good condition board, only minor cosmetic scratches from use. Depending on what kind of shipping you want I might be nice and cover the costs. It cost me 300$ but I'm no longer using it so why keep it.
here in phoenix only people that have long boards are hipster and preppy dumb asses, while most of the boarders are usually skate boarders
I longboarded to keep my snowboarding skills a little closer to home when there's no snow, but it's different enough that I was able to enjoying learning about longboarding.
The skater fashion is cool, getting hurt skating isn't. Longboarders don't get hurt as mush so guess what LOOPHOLE FOR HIPSTERS yaaay.

I ride a Landyachtz Evo with Siesmic trucks. I get a lot of people driving in the opposite direction trying to figure out what the hell I'm on. This thing is amazing for carving hills and getting good speed on small hills, but carrying this behemoth up hills is no bueno.
my entire school is doing this and it's fucking annoying
I've only seen like 3 people in the parking lot on longboards? I'm going to have to bring mine to school this year because of my reduced schedule.
I haven't seen a single person Longboarding over here, just average skateboarders hanging out in huge gangs at a skate park, not letting any children in on scooters and rollerblades, ect. Luckily there are some skaters that aren't complete douches though, which is pretty chill. I went on a skateboard borrowed from a friend today, managed to keep my balance half the time, but speed wobbles are so fucking scary. My friend actually lost balance and scraped the left side of his jaw against the pavement and then later on he attempted to go down a really steep hill and hit a sharp turn, needless to say he ate dirt. Good times.

And how everyone claims to longboard when I know for a fact they bought one and just rode it to the beach a couple times. Does not make you a longboarder. I always see your ass longboarding though txt me we're boutta throw down some hammers on edgewood hill text me i got a new phone and lostttttt my fuckin numbers FAKE MERGE EDIT oh god i remember that board is heavy as FUCK
I have a couple of Longboards, one's a Sector 9 the other is a Vault. My Vault came with bad bearings, I complained, got a fresh pair of very good bearings a couple weeks later. So I'm pretty happy with the Vault for that. My Sector 9 is a 50" Pintail (actually can't remember the exact size, I think it's that) so I ride it down mega steep hills, I go crazy fast and the adrenaline rush is awesome. I don't use them to do tricks or any of that jazz, not really into them. [editline]31st July 2011[/editline] These days I'm seeing a lot of hipsters longboarding actually, and there are guys down the street from my house who I think recently got one, I see them trying to do tricks on them, I just whoosh past on my board. They can't go down the hills I go down on my board or else they'll fall.
