So what would be some average brands I can look out for in-store? And the price? Might get one before Christmas
Typically I try to avoid skate/surf shops and zumiez. They all carry arbor, sector9, santa cruz stuff thats up marked and not exactly the best bang for your buck. Look around online at places like longboardskater.com, milehighskates.com, muirskate.com, daddiesboardshop.com, motionboardshop.com. Typically $160-200 is all your going to end up spending, maybe a little over $200. Checkout earthwing and jet for some sick decks at a great price. What type of riding do you plan on getting into? Mainly cruising? Would you see yourself wanting to learn slides in the future and breaking 30mph?

My setup is now a Sector 9 Carbon decay 37' concave/convex, Paris silver trucks, abec 11 75mm bigzigs, divine bushings, bones reds bearings, speed spacers, drop through risers. Smooth ride.

I just want something that goes faster than walking and can be carried, cheapest possible
That's that kind of thing that's cool and awesome until I try it :saddowns:
How easy is it to get started? I tried skating when I was young and absolutely sucked, and I live in a town with no downhill things or such, nothing exciting, is it still worth it?
How easy is it to get started? I fucking love longboarding.
I need halp, I'm looking for a setup thats under $250; I want a board that has good control on downhills, but is also easy to push and cruise for very long distances on flat land.

Earthwing makes dope stuff. Don't expect to be going to fast on it, its a cruiser that is light and easily carried. Drop deck? Drop through? Look around on longboardskater.com at brands such as jati, earthwing, landyachtz, jet, madrid, rayne, dregs, and comet. With $250 you can easily get a sweet setup. Look at the landyachtz wolfshark, I really want to get one of those for downhill. [editline]15th August 2011[/editline]
How easy is it to get started? Its not hard at all to get into because of the many disciplines that you can do. [editline]15th August 2011[/editline]
Hell yes
You riding reflex or classic?

Broke 50mph clocked today. I knew I had broke 50 before but today I had a chaser car to get a rough estimate of my speed. It was like nothing I've ever felt. [editline]15th August 2011[/editline]
reflex, what're you getting? They ride niceeee
Reflex man! I can't wait for them to come. I broke 50 on my nersh smoothies that are pretty worn down so I can't imagine what kind of speeds I'll be able to hit with these things. The roll speed, the fresh bearings. The possibilities!

i longboard because it's cheaper than a cab they are ideal for urban transportation, as long as you can evade the police

I've ridden one, didn't care for it. Spend around $160-70 for a nice cruising board that will last forever. You won't regret the smooth roll speed and comfy ride. That mini will probably not be as smooth. Although what you are doing is illegal and I think you ran a red light, still fucking crazy. Props man, I'd never wanna ride through all those cars.

Preferably a fixed gear.
what board is that
kracked skulls scimitar. great first deck, i highly recommend it since its really a great deal at around $160. How does she ride? Also you should get some new bushings for your trucks if you wanna make the board a more lively. http://motionboardshop.com/bushinghelp You can never have enough bushings
can any one look on this page and recommend a good setup for long distance cruising? [editline]17th August 2011[/editline] hello?
My buddy has the exact same one, that thing is expert on sliding.
Well that's half the reason I bought it. I was just skating around my street today and noticed that it's so much more reactive than my 46". Nice tight turning circle and, although I haven't slid yet, I think I kinda understand the technique behind it all.
