Thinking of getting the Sector 9 Bamboo J-Bay for my first board. I weigh like 52 kg (i'm still gonna grow though I realise i'm really light for a 15 year old dude) so i'm probably gonna need new bushings or whatever those things were called. Opinions? [editline]18th August 2011[/editline] J Bay graphic is pretty sweet for me considering i'm South African :v:

Pretty big :v: I don't see myself bombing big hills though, more just tame-ish ones. Looking to cruise around, probably carve a bit.
This looks like fun Altho I'll wait 3-4 months before buying a longboard it would be a waste of money if I'd never ride it
My other wheels, orangatang durians 75mm 83a, I found out not too many people think they are that good after I bought them but now that I've finally learned how to tune my board to perfection they ride so nice. Will be getting slides in no time! I advise anyone who doesn't have bearing spacers (those metal things that go INSIDE the wheel between the two bearings and whoever doesn't know what they are to learn about them) to get them because they make a huge difference.
Bearing spacers = Buttery slides all day. I was thinking about buying precision bearing spacers since they are only like $5 more than the khiro ones. I figure it may be worth it in the long run.
My Santa Cruz Pintail is getting fucking pounded more and more everyday. But nonetheless, the greatest longboard I've ever ridden
This looks awesome. I think after getting the hang of snowboarding some more I'll try this out. Or maybe in the rest of the off season while the slopes are closed I could try this out. The carving is really similar to what snowboarders do. It could help my snowboarding skills.

Longboarding is kickass! Here's a couple pictures of my boards. The one on the right is my first board. It's a Bareback, a good starter board. The other one is a custom built board my cousin and I made. I even made the graphic for the bottom. Every obnoxious dick at my university has a longboard and uses it to get everywhere around campus. I've seen three different people get hit by cars (one of those people I've seen get hit twice) because they use the bike lane but they're on a board with wheels and no brakes, so they feel like they don't need to slow down for stop signs. If you ride one of these, please don't be one of those people.

They don't know how to shutdown slide/footbreak and end up getting hurt. Kooks man, ruining the scene for the rest of us.
I suggest you guys do a lot of research before you buy a longboard. There are so many different variations, I already found the one I want and hopefully getting soon
I'm willing to sell my Gravity cigar shaped longboard for a few $ to someone if they arn't sure about buying a full blown board to try it out, it's a great starter board, only minor cosmetic scratches.

Love it. Great board. Sooo easy to slide this thing when its in a drop through. Make sure you have bearing spacers and speed rings.
Nothing against longboarders, but whenever I see somebody riding around on one, I verbally wish for them to trip and fall.
Nothing against longboarders, but whenever I see somebody riding around on one, I verbally wish for them to trip and fall.
You probably only see broboarders. [editline]22nd August 2011[/editline] and hipster faggots [editline]22nd August 2011[/editline] Still thinking about learning to slide? yeah its that fun [editline]22nd August 2011[/editline] the funny part about the video is the slides are not even that impressive. its just he editing and music that really makes it amazing.
I just bought a LongBoard on Craigslist. Rayne Vendetta Deck Purple Stimulus Wheels Reds Bearings JimZ Bushings Total: 175$ Is that good?
I just bought a LongBoard on Craigslist. Rayne Vendetta Deck Purple Stimulus Wheels Reds Bearings JimZ Bushings Total: 175$ Is that good?
Rayne makes quality stuff. I've heard ok stuff about Potangs so I think you'll be fine with those. Red bearings are very reputable. JimZ is the man. Know what trucks they are? If you didn't get trucks might I suggest some caliber trucks.
I am thinking of getting a longboard, however I don't have the best roads around here, a bit bumpy but not out of control or anything, is it still okay? [editline]22nd August 2011[/editline] And no hills around here either.

Perhaps you'd like to learn dancing on it because it caters more towards flat land.

Would that be okay?
Well I saw a post a while back about some mini cruiser for $60 and the reviews say it's great. Would that be okay?
Post the cruiser please? Sounds like it may be extremely cheap and flimsy but it could also be the deal of the century.

I'm not sure really what parts you can swap in and out on it but if you get it and tell me what the size of the wheels and trucks are, I can tell you some decent replacement stuff to make it a little more streamline.
Tore up my leg only a few meters outside my house. Went out for a sesh and the goddamn landscapers were mowing my building's lawn and a branch bounced out and landed in front of my trucks...my knee is basically incapable of supporting my weight, for the time being... Which is hyper depressing because I was just about to go buy a Bustin Robot and give my friend my Heist :(.
Flat land cruising is sort of boring. I drive out to the little hills for fun. You can't really stop though, if you jump up, you trip because of speed different and if you put foot down you faceplant.
I haven't fallen hard in 3 years since I learned how to do this. You should also practice bailing, as in stepping off your board and stopping or running alongside it on both sides and all speeds. After mastering that, the only way you'll go down is by complete surprise. Adio is a really good durable brand that won't wear out. I've probably slid my shoe 3 miles foot braking and it is only now wearing out. I've stopped from 35 mph in 50 feet. It is frightening as hell, but fun. I've gotten experienced enough where I can use foot braking for speed management while carving and bombing hills, allowing me to drop speed when I need to but go completely straight up until that point [rather than carving the entire way to maintain a safe speed].
