Looking at a dropthrough on the cheap. Recommendations?
Looking at a dropthrough on the cheap. Recommendations?
Jet and earthwing have cheap as in $80 boards that are drop through.
I just bought this longboard
I know you're technically supposed to build your own, but I just want to ride at the moment. It was pretty cheap, and all the reviews said it was great. Good decision or bad decision on the buy?

Your gonna get what you pay for. It'll be a fun introductory deck but if you want to go fast or slide it probably will not be so great for that.

For a starter deck, it's fine. But as Takkun said, don't expect anything miraculous. It'll be a good cruiser and fun to get a feel for riding, but in the long run, you're going to want to replace parts as you see fit, or get a new deck entirely.

Yeah I'll probably replace the bearings. I already know how to ride a longboard, because I've been riding skateboards around for a while.
Also I live in Illinois. Flatground central. So I doubt I'll go fast anyway really.

Don't be so certain. With the right bearings and wheels, and a little leg strength, you can accelerate fairly nicely.
I'm considering buying one of these instead of a low cc motor bike for getting to school and back

It LOOKS awesome but I have a feeling it's not functionally workable. Seems heavy and burdensome to carry.
But still awesome.
Loaded Tan Tien, Bones Reds, Paris 180 Adam Coltons, and Sector 9 80A Race Formulas?
[sp]I'll be trying out different bushings[/sp]
Sounds like a solid build. The bearings are great, and though I've not had enough experience with Parises, I've only heard good things.
Race formula is great formula. I need to try out the blue formula they make but I'm addicted to Abec 11. Maybe when I get some serious expendable cash but in the mean time its Abec 11 over everything for me. Man predrifting my reflex bigzigs can be a bitch since they shed speed so damn fast. I gotta get more efficient at popping the slide and sucking it back in. Got my night custom being pressed as we speak :downs:

y/n? Cant find a Jet or Earthwing in stock, and this has pretty rad art.
EDIT: Actually, never mind, me and my friend decided we're going to make our own decks.

What do you guys think of this setup?
The flex of the board is rock solid, deep pockets and kicks. Freeriding, downhill, and dancing would be no problem.
I kind of just like an easy speed, sometimes going fast but never really bombing huge hills. Does that make me a weenie?

Oh gawd no. You probably like to carve.
Oh gawd no. You probably like to carve.
when I first got into longboarding I thought that carving was some special trick you really had to learn, then I learned it meant turning left and right
Anyone go to Broadway Bomb?

Considering I'm a bus ride away from it, I plan on going.

Personally not a fan of nordboards. I like longboardskater, motionboardshop, edgeboardshop, and muirskate. Good deck though.

I approve. I have smoothies in 80a and I find them choppy but than again I think one of my cores may be a little wonky since everyone else loves them. I say go for it, they're fast wheels in my opinion and I'm probably gonna throw them on my night darkshark when it gets here since I want a little more slip than my lime bigzigs.

all great choices in brands for a good price.
Any recommendations for a decent sliding/cruising deck? Needs to be available to the UK and roughly £100, i'm currently looking at the Comet Voodoo Doll or JET Vulcan.
Also does anybody know of a place to purchase caliber trucks in the UK?

Try emailing them to see if anyone else carries them. Rad choices in boards dude and excellent choice in trucks. If you can't acquire caliber try finding some gunmetal trucks, basically the same truck.

I'm really struggling to decide on a deck right now.
After a little chat with a friend I'm seriously tempted by the Madrid "The Dream". The Jet Vulcan was tempting but I hear bad things about the concave.
The Madrid board has W concave which seems like the best type, but I know little about concave, what I do know is that I dislike flat decks.

it's a different shaped skateboard, why does it have it's own name?
it's a different shaped skateboard, why does it have it's own name?
Because it's longer, uses different trucks and wheels, and is used for different purposes.

ah aight
I've never Longboarded before and barely could stand well on a skateboard, but I really like the chill, calming aspect that Longboarding seems to have, but I'm currently strapped for cash, so could any of you recommend a good cheap board?
