I bought 75a wheels on the longboard i ordered, what's the difference from 71a to 81-85a? is it just the wheel thickness or something?
Its the hardness (durometer) of the wheels, the thickness should be somewhere in the description. 75a is pretty soft, and unless you're really light will probably be unnecessary and a bit slow. I'm 170 and 78a-82a are what I usually opt for in cruising wheels, for sliding you may want harder wheels, but definitely ones with rounded lips.
I heard that for cruising softer wheels are better, but will it restrict me from doing other things such as carving? i'm not really into tricks.

Abec11 Flashbacks 70mm 75a apparently.
Great wheels, you're good to go.
Abec11 Flashbacks 70mm 75a apparently.
unless your area is completely flat or you're avoiding any kind of incline like the plague i'd recommend something a tad harder so you're not glued to the road. also my 2012 supermodel came in. yayyyy
Finally ordered my BC Eel, shit's gonna be dank.
This is the Eel I ordered. My original request was for all the birds to wear different hats, but they said they couldn't do something as complicated as that right now, seeing that their getting a lot of orders for Christmas right now. Still looks awesome though.
^looks like a cool deck. how many plies is it and how long is it? also longboarding at around midnight is so nice and relaxing. i can go on hills that have stop signs and not have to worry about needing to stop since cars have their lights on(hopefully).

word up sounds nice. on another note i need to fashion some sliding gloves so i can learn how to do colemans.
word up sounds nice. on another note i need to fashion some sliding gloves so i can learn how to do colemans.
What I did at first was took some batting gloves, stuck some velcro to them, and then cut out pucks from a water bottle and stuck opposite sided velcro to the pucks. Worked well, but not nearly as slidey as real slide gloves.
the graphic i am going to be getting on my BC moray: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/tPDP8.jpg[/img_thumb]
Looks good, but I'm a fan of wood, as you can see from my post above.
anybody here have a board from Kracked Skulls?
Hey just wondering what would be a good beginner board? I would enjoy one that would let me carve and cruise since it would be a way to hang out with friends but also to travel around with since my car battery died. I would be getting it for xmas so I probably wont be in person to get it so i need to find an all around average one.
A price range would be glorious.
Anybody know a site I can get the Never Summer Revolt (Including Tax + Shipping) for under 200$ shipped to Canada? (DECK ONLY) The deck's just 150$ in the U.S, but I live in Canada, and including shipping, all the deck prices seem to be over 200$ :/
What do people think of penny boards? Personally they're not really for me but I've never ridden one and I'd be curious to see how they handle around the city and such. When I'm moving around a lot and with mates it can be a pain the arse to carry the 44" I have at the moment. A mate told me I could buy one off him for $80. They might have different names in the us but this is what they look like: [editline]8th December 2011[/editline] They seem a bit kiddy though so I don't know.....

Yeah you can get them pretty cheap and even though they look weak they are very strong. As much as I like them they've sort of been adopted as 'babbys first skateboard' My dad had one of these in the 70's. [editline]8th December 2011[/editline] Yeah I think I'll pick a 34" instead 22" a bit to small for me. [editline]8th December 2011[/editline] Just finished carving the design for a 34-35 inch deck out all I need to do is smooth it out apply grip tape and screw in the trucks. Woop Woop. Post pics when its done. [editline]8th December 2011[/editline] Can anyone recommend decent trucks and wheels for a 35" board for just cruising, Not massive speed or anything but still be able to handle abuse? [editline]8th December 2011[/editline] Keep in mind though I live inner-city Melbourne which is quite tight.
When I got my 36" board cut, which is about to my waist, I though it would be perfect size, but after riding on it I sometimes wish it was a little longer. Maybe 4-5 inches more. Carrying it around was never a problem to me except when I first put some extra course griptape on it and it tore up my fingers a little. Other than that I got used to the weight.

Their unstable and slow, but pretty cool I guess. $80 is a massive rip tho. EDIT: Also, don't expect to ride it when anything is remotely close to even being damp, you'll slide right off.

It was like $25, handles like shit of course to the point of being a death trap. I routinely fell off it after getting my shoes damp in the grass. Of course, I had fun, so maybe it's worth it just for the "what the fuck is this" factor.
Going to cut my old 9two5 into a directional top mount, will post pictures soon.
Oh god... I could never do that to such an expensive board. Maybe a Krown or Stella, but not a Landy.
The best is when people snap both the drop cuts and just mount it on the ends. Its suppose to be one hell of a freeride deck.
After you mount it behind the cuts or stock? Also, where'd you go?
