I have the 2012 supermodel with Indy 215's. it's my first board so I can't compare it to anything, but i like it better than my friend's time machine.

Its so versatile and is a great jack of all trades. I really want to try the microdrop version because I love me some microdrop but first things first, get some cindrich gen 4 precision trucks.

Supermodel is a great deck for him than once he learns more and grows into it he can make decisions like this. I've never ridden a longboard before, let alone owned one haha.[/QUOTE] Drop throughs are lower and are suppose to be stabler (This is subject to opinion because I ride top mounts fine at high speeds, its all in ankle strength and building up to those speeds) they also drift easier and are suppose to be easier to slide. I prefer top mounts for sliding simply because you gain more control plus if you get a microdrop supermodel you'll be a little lower so it'll kinda be like a drop through case and point my switchblade is like that. Fucking love that deck top mounted. Your gonna like a supermodel whether it be microdrop or regular. Its a good entry level deck that a large number of people learn all their firsts on.

Switch is all about state of mind in my opinion, whenever I learn a new switch trick I just do it regular than think about every motion and try to mimic it. That is the best way in my opinion.

Trick Tips are a good way to find out about tricks and get the general idea of how to do it, but you need to figure out for yourself how to do it. Now that that's done, I just get out of switch before I do a speed check, never really been so pressed for time to do a speed check that I couldn't get out of switch.

Going out to buy new trucks and bearings tomorrow because the ones that came with this suck.

looking up some kingpin replacements for indy 215's. decided that i'm not even going to buy shorter(and reputably worse bushings) for a short kingpin when i can get nice venoms with a half hour's work.

They allow you to run venom bushings.
