Thanks for the advice! I ended up getting a sector 9 board and replacing the wheels with the Zigzags. I'm pretty happy with it so far

The skate shop I was at didn't carry Caliber trucks so I stuck with the gullwings that came with the board
Gullwings have definitely improved lately my best suggestion is to change the stock bushings in your trucks. Get some venoms up in that bitch and find a bushing setup that works for you.
Switchback is in my town. I was shocked to say the least when I was looking at longboards online and it came up.
Lucky. I wish I had a rad local shop.
ABEC 11 Flashbacks 81a. They're like $33 on longboardskater.com and a super popular wheel that has held up to the test of time. Fucking love abec 11 classic thane. Plus no other 70mm wheel can beat its price.
Thanks, about how long do they last before they aren't ride-able anymore?
I did a shuvit yesterday.
Someone driving by stopped and told me to do it again, so I did.
He was so amazed.
Thanks, about how long do they last before they aren't ride-able anymore?
Flashbacks last pretty much forever, they wear so nicely and pretty much never flatspot.
Oops, double toast.
are earthwings good? I might get a supermodel when I have some cash.
are earthwings good? I might get a supermodel when I have some cash.
I've heard good things about them. Never had any personal experience, but I can't recall ever hearing anything bad.
are earthwings good? I might get a supermodel when I have some cash.
Earthwing supermodel is a super popular board. Might I suggest getting the one with micro drops. Those drops will lock you in so nicely in slides.
I have the 2012 supermodel with Indy 215's. it's my first board so I can't compare it to anything, but i like it better than my friend's time machine.

Its pretty much the end all be all recommended board to anyone looking for a first deck. Its so versatile and is a great jack of all trades. I really want to try the microdrop version because I love me some microdrop but first things first, get some cindrich gen 4 precision trucks.

I read that as "get some children".

Alright, although the only one like that on switchbacklongboards is a top-mount (I think). Is there a major difference between drop through and top-mount? I've never ridden a longboard before, let alone owned one haha.

Top mounts are higher up from the ground and generally turn better.
Top mounts are higher up from the ground and generally turn better.
ah, ok. If they turn better then that'll probably be a good thing for me, roads here are retarded.

A better choice would be a board with a shorter wheelbase, or learning to predrift.

He doesn't need a short wheelbase just yet. Supermodel is a great deck for him than once he learns more and grows into it he can make decisions like this. Mold the skater inside. hahaha

Drop throughs are lower and are suppose to be stabler (This is subject to opinion because I ride top mounts fine at high speeds, its all in ankle strength and building up to those speeds) they also drift easier and are suppose to be easier to slide. I prefer top mounts for sliding simply because you gain more control plus if you get a microdrop supermodel you'll be a little lower so it'll kinda be like a drop through case and point my switchblade is like that. Fucking love that deck top mounted. Your gonna like a supermodel whether it be microdrop or regular. Its a good entry level deck that a large number of people learn all their firsts on.
Happy new year, guys. Let the coming year bring us some ridiculously good jams.
So, what's the deal on the Element Travel Well series?
Happy New Year Longboarders

So many other options that are just as fun and flexy. Fuck loaded, do not spend the money on that over priced carving machine.

also consider Independent 215's; the supermodel was made with those in mind.
anyone know where any trick tip videos are for switch speed checks ? i just can't get them !
anyone know where any trick tip videos are for switch speed checks ? i just can't get them !
Ehh I never liked trick tip videos. Switch is all about state of mind in my opinion, whenever I learn a new switch trick I just do it regular than think about every motion and try to mimic it. That is the best way in my opinion.
Trick Tips are a good way to find out about tricks and get the general idea of how to do it, but you need to figure out for yourself how to do it.
Now that that's done, I just get out of switch before I do a speed check, never really been so pressed for time to do a speed check that I couldn't get out of switch.
Just went out and got an Element Travel Well deck.

I have to say I like my Sector 9 Uluwatu deck a lot more. Going out to buy new trucks and bearings tomorrow because the ones that came with this suck.
looking up some kingpin replacements for indy 215's. decided that i'm not even going to buy shorter(and reputably worse bushings) for a short kingpin when i can get nice venoms with a half hour's work.

Get core baseplates from milehighskates. They allow you to run venom bushings.
