Cowboy Lou rides this bitch and its steezy. I suggest it highly.

My suggestion.
[editline]21st January 2012[/editline]
I think you'd dig this setup.
[editline]21st January 2012[/editline]
Once you get the hang of the deck and want to spruce it up, spend $20 on bushings. This of course you should wait a month or two before doing.
Is longboarding a lot different than skateboarding? I mean, I was never TOO good at skateboarding, but I was decent at shuvits and got to the point that I could ollie up curbs with about 50% success
[editline]21st January 2012[/editline]
I just like the idea of carving, being able to sustain motion without pushing seems really cool, especially if you can go really fast
[editline]21st January 2012[/editline]
also I heard somewhere that sector 9 makes bad boards
I don't know what difference it could ever make

The s9 makes bad boards is entirely on the board, but its a unanimous thing that the super shaka and mini shaka are fucking dope along with the downhill division. Sector9 race stuff is dope as shit and in terms of regular stuff the only thing I'd touch is the shaka. This deck will be difficult at first to get the hang off but if you can already shovit than this should be fairly simple. It'll be carvy if you loosen the trucks, those wheels give you a ton of options sliding wise, and the deck is dope, lemmie find a Cowboy Lou video with it.
Also the description on that site for freeriding, like that freeride board, is "for longboarding on hills while doing technical maneuvers" and there are no hills here, but I don't know
sorry for all of this bullshit I've been spewing for the past few days, I just don't want to drop 200 dollars on something that isn't as good as I can get for my money (I don't want to get the wrong board) and also thanks for all the help
[editline]21st January 2012[/editline]
also I really don't want to slide very much, sliding looks stupid to me when I see it in videos

I'm having trouble finding the video of him olling this gap with it.
It has double kicks on it. So you can freestyle it.

this is the best I can find

1:25 he ollies it over a gap. He also does some shuvits. This deck is a awesome jack of all trades. Plus the mini shaka is nice because its a bit smaller than the super shaka so you can pop it easier in my opinion plus it fixed a few things everyone complained about on the super.
[editline]21st January 2012[/editline]
Its 8 plys of maple which is good shit.
[editline]21st January 2012[/editline]
Mini is just a tuned up super. Its my best suggestion hands down.
Alright I think I'll get that one then! The stuff in the video looks pretty cool, but I don't think I'll be able to do any of it for a good long while, but it's still nice because it gives me some options. Thanks for all your help man!

No problem man. Also it just takes a lot of practice, how I learned most of the tricks I know is anytime I was bored I'd just go skate. Anytime I was just browsing forums and it was light out, I'd go skate. Just go skate as much as possible, everyday. Even better in urban areas.
Yeah I was just trying to ollie up in my attic (because its cold as fuck and dark outside, and I figured I'd disturb people less with loud sounds up there) and I can get the kick down really nicely on my board, I can kick it up really well, I just can't time the sliding of my foot at all... like when I try I only get and inch or two off the ground and I can't level out the board, it lands crooked.

I feel you. I've been doing the same thing. Practice makes perfect.
I figured since you skate you'd know what I can do to help myself ollie better
[editline]3:33[/editline]
oops, broken automerge
yeah I'm hoping I can get better at that, maybe be able to ollie before the board arrives so that I can modify it to fit the board

haha your asking the wrong person, I skate a lot but I still suck absolute balls at anything shortboard wise. When I need to get up places I early grab like its my job. Since its winter I'm going to get my ollie down since I'll need it next year at college, early grabs look gay.
[editline]21st January 2012[/editline]
I can slide 20+ft but I can't ollie 2ft.
[editline]21st January 2012[/editline]
its depressing
Yeah, I can't believe how easy it looks in video but how hard it is in real life. In video it looks like each ollie drags on for 10 seconds but in real life it's just a snap of the fingers. Maybe I'm just doing it too fast haha

To make anything look steezy, its takes a lot of practice. I'm gonna go clean my garage haha so I have a place to skate in this rainy weather.

Just a tip; for longboards, because they don't have as much pop as shortboards, doing an ollie is almost entirely about your front foot, so focus on getting that swept forward nice and fast.
on my almost impact bomb board i used to ollie a good 1 1/2 feet what's up
I can't even ollie that high on a skateboard. Man, I think the problem is that I come down too fast/don't stay in the air long enough. I think I need to bring my legs up higher.
it's all about the jump bro, practice by jumping and bring your knees to your chest
yeah you gotta suck your knees into your chest, the board will pretty much follow your feet. As far as levelling the board out, it might just be that you aren't sliding your feet far enough up the board, you wanna get your front foot pretty much on top of the front bolts and you should level out in the air.
Skating is like, 80% jumping lol. Get good at it.
[QUOTE=FPKawaii;34334078]Skating is like, 80% jumping lol. Get good at it.[/QUOTE]
white men can't jump!
But there's like, 20 black skaters so...
Yeah, I've no problem with jumping and bringing my feet to my chest, it's really the movement of my foot along the board that I've got trouble with. Just a minute ago I was practicing some more, and I felt that shit happening, because before I could never get my foot to the end of the board, but when I finally did, I felt it connect and I got a good foot off of that ollie. Which, yeah, I know isn't much, but its a big improvement
wow i forgot about my man maxxspeed, totally want a jagerbomb now

Well, I've pretty much got ollieing down, but the only problem is that I'm only getting about 1 foot of air because I'm not bringing my knees to my chest. Whenever I try to do so, the whole ollie fucks up and it just doesn't work, so I still have to get that down
Better than I can ollie :v:

That doesn't sound that bad, I can't even pop the board off the ground.
But then again, it's not easy to do with a Landyachtz Evo.

Yeah, I'm not even using a longboard, I'm using a skateboard. My longboard is coming in 3 days
[editline]23rd January 2012[/editline]
Technically 3.5 since they don't ship on weekends
ok about to order my board finally, even though I wont be able to ride it for a while.
if I get the supermodel should I get indy 215s or calibers?

straight away beast right here. I always wanted to try one of these for a straight we have in SoMD. I heard the chinook is like ungodly for downhill with tech and straights, a more versatile evo.
