Will consider it.
ABEC11 isn't a rating for bearings. I was confused if you were talking about wheels or bearings in your last sentence

Are these bearings any good? They're ABEC7's.
A set of 8 for 36.00USD.
I haven't found any ABEC11's at MHS or Landyachtz.
abec 11 is a wheel company. Abec numbers really don't mean shit in downhill. Tektons are pretty cool stuff, supposedly super fast.
I'm quite sure the highest is ABEC 9s, because ABEC 11 is the name of a company and I thought it was like meant to say that they are above the best.
you are correct
He's trying to say he wants bearings with the spacers built in, like those and the Abec 11s.
I thought ABEC11 was a rating for bearings, considering the ABEC ratings.
So I should be looking for ABEC11 wheels?
I've been looking at Seismic Speed Vent wheels, 85mm, 75a
They're the wheels Mischo Erban used for his 80.83mph run.
Abec11 is a wheel company that makes a certain bearing. The abec rating (not a proper noun) is used to describe the quality tolerance of bearings, but it's really not a good way to measure how good bearings are. For example, Bones Reds, one of the most trusted bearings, isn't even measured by the abec scale, but is somewhere around abec 3 to abec 5.
Now that I have that confusion corrected, let me reread the last page.
The abec rating is actually only referring to the quality/tolerances of the ball bearings themselves.
My personal preference is for Bones Reds and Supers, simply because they're damn indestructible. I've got a friend who've been riding bones for nearly a year and they're only just on the way out.
Bearings will last however long they will depending on how you take care of them.
OHHH. Yeah don't do that, it'll be backwards and you won't be able to ride properly, CKP trucks have different geometries so this won't work at all.
[editline]23rd January 2012[/editline]
if you really want to try rkp you can probably find some cheap used on the fish.
i think i might pass, i saw some black kid put grizzly 852s on his supermodel and the shit was so high off the ground it wasn't funny.

Low is a lot of fun but top mounting stuff and RKP trucks are pretty fun. You should look to see if you can pickup a cheap set of 42 randals or 44 cals. Low baseplates will give you a bit of a lower ride, you'll just need soft as fuck bushings to mimic what you like.
Getting my Evo back from a friend tomorrow, once I see the condition of it, I'll know what to order for it.
Also found my full-face helmet today, as well as getting some new wheels and bearings from my brother-in-law.
I have now seen the difference bearing spacers make, and it was glorious.

Greatest $5-15 you can spend on a ride. Worth it more than bushings.
i've had bearing spacers from the get-go; what's the difference of not having them?
[editline]24th January 2012[/editline]
also finally learned how to speed check, now i just need to get better at it while i wait for my gloves to come.

Without the spacers, wheels don't spin nearly as smooth and create more vibrations, lowering their top speed.
also, how do people do grip tape designs? do they cut it prior to applying it on the board or do they cut it off the board?
also, how do people do grip tape designs? do they cut it prior to applying it on the board or do they cut it off the board?
I would imagine it being much easier to cut out the design before applying it.

On my deck, it was cut out.

I tried some artsy-fartsy phototaking earlier. That was the result.

It gets mega choppy when you slide because the bearings shift around. Also most people precut their grip tape if they want to do fancy shit, I'd only do it if you just cruise because cutting out some grip tape can be a bitch and if you lose that grip its a pain.
I just went to home depot and asked for stair grip tape. Got me dem strips and they are now just starting to wear.

I'm gonna redo it after i fiberglass.

Get that red and blue sand paper I see all the Cali riders with. Its suppose to be super grippy.
Anybody new to Longboarding (or looking to brush up), I highly recommend reading this. It's basically an "anatomy of the board" type of thing.
Thing is it's really hard to get grip tape from local shops. All they carry is standard for street boards which is shit.
I really don't want to spend twice as much on tape though for shipping so the stripes are my easiest option right now.

Hardware stores man. I'm talking hardware stores. I'm probably gonna pop by truvalue or lowes tomorrow after I skate to see what they have tape wise. Although my night deck already has 24 grit gator on it which is like absolute shoe killer.
Look what I found when I was lookin at picks for new board designs

I want to get one of those G|Baby boards for my nephew, he always wants to ride my Evo, but it weighs as much as he does.
Its weird, toeside checks I feel fearless in right now. Going way faster than I'm usually comfortable in when trying to tweak new slides into a science. This weather is amazing, it was like 52f in maryland today. Had some of the best slides I've had in a long time, venom tweakers leaving nice thick thane lines too.

Just got my Evo back today.
The Seismic trucks are so out of adjustment that they handle fairly shit, so I put some Bear hangers on Paris bases and now it rides smoother, quieter, and much further then ever.
One side is starting to delaminate, so I'm going to clean the rocks out of it, guerrilla glue it and clamp it together.
Going to get some blue 180mm Paris trucks, 85mm 75A Seismic Speed Vent wheels, Seismic Tekton bearings, and some Landyachtz slide gloves.

2 friends and i played a game where you pass a ball while going down hill, in light of good weather.
super fun.

Me and a friend tried that with Lacrosse sticks last year.
Lets just say I missed and lost a lot of Lacrosse balls.
