Why the fuck are we talking is spoiler the moive was spoiled on the first page
My head hurts
I loved it, but it had such overly Christian tone. I found the ending kind of, eye-brow raising-ness:" [sp] So, the Christian bible is save humanity, but the Koran and the other religion bibles won't? That was like a major Christian propaganda[/sp]
Did you see Malcolm Mcdowell's library at the end? He had all the religious books.
Whats the problem with you guys? It was good movie, it may be the best movie I've seen all year so far. Its like all you have bitch about the Christianity message in it. Hello people the movie is fictional, it never happened. The movie had a new plot idea and it was original but, for some reason you guys didn't like it. You didn't like avatar because the story was so original and we see those type of messages and story plots all the time. Some of you said that they need to stop using the same ideas over and over again. And what do you know this movie has a new and original plot but, no we have to bitch about the message in it.
Just saw it, and I really enjoyed it.
No the plot twist is... WARNING MAJOR SPOILER!!!!! [sp]After Carnegie spends all his man power and effort into getting the book from Eli, upon opening it he finds out the book is written in braille. The camera then pans to Eli's eye and we see that he is actually blind, that attributes to his acute senses and mad skills. He is also apparently the only person who is able to read braille. Carnegie who got all his men and guards killed, begins to laugh as he realizes the town that he so desperately wanted to save by using the Bible has begun to riot and torn itself apart. Eli dies while he recites every line from the Bible to an old man who is writes it down in order for it to be reprinted to the masses.[/sp]
You don't even know shit about the movie [sp] HE wasn't blind, there are several instances in the movie that show that. He was partially maybe, but not fully. [/sp]
Very good beginning, really stupid ending. Not even the Bible part, I'm fine with biblical allusion. It went down the same road that most post apocalyptic movies do. It lost its focus on the individual and went to the same old "save civilization" bullshit. Just once I want to see a movie about a group of people who just do whatever they gotta do to survive. No morals, no reservations, it's the fucking apocalypse. No more goals or destinations, an entire movie focusing on the interactions between people who are just trying to survive.
No more goals or destinations, an entire movie focusing on the interactions between people who are just trying to survive.
Mad Max series?
Mad Max series?
Mad Max fell into the same traps when Max would sacrifice his own well being for that of strangers. I would have had no problem with that if his decision to be the hero lead to his death, as it would have realistically. I'm talking completely and utterly self-centered, instinct-driven survival. Apocalyptic stories are always about people reverting to animals, so why is every single protagonist a civilized do-gooder?

The problem with a purely selfish main character is twofold: What is his/her character arc? He or she starts thinking only about survival...and the movie ends with him or her only thinking about survival- what's the point? Who do you root for, as an audience? Why would I care if this person who only thinks of himself survives or not? What's at stake? One life, so why would it be interesting to watch? On top of all that, history has proven that humans do their best, in terms of survival and everything else, when we work together in groups. A movie about a self centered person or persons is inherently about a failure then, that's not very compelling to watch.
So 1 atheist? I can pull out a lot of instances where religion has caused a lot of unfortunate events. But you only refer to 1 atheist who believes religion is a primitive unifying tool? Regardless, I wanna see this movie. haven't touched any of the spoilers yet..
There have been a lot of people who ran over other people with cars. Cars are bad. That's your logic.
